    PoliciesPrint Artwork Submission

    All art must be sent via email to [email protected]. The Daily can acceptPDF and TIFF files.

    PDF files must be high-resolution, press-ready files with the following specs:

    Acrobat 4.0 compatibilityAll fonts embeddedAll colors converted to CMYK.CMYK or Grayscale image resolution set to300ppi @ 100%Bitmap images image resolution set to600ppi @ 100%

    TIFF or EPS TIFF files must meet the follow-ing requirements:

    CMYK or Grayscale image resolution set to300ppi @ 100%

    Bitmap images image resolution set to600ppi @ 100%Extra channels beyond CMYK must be

    deletedTIFF files should be saved with LZW com-pression turned on

    Illustrator, InDesign, Canvas, or Corel filesmust be exported as TIFF files and shouldmeet all of the image and resolution stan-dards mentioned above. The Stanford Dailydoes not accept PDFs with RGB or Indexedcolor images, page layout files, JPEG, PNG,or GIF files for submission.

    The Fine Print

    (1) Advertising PlacementThe Stanford Daily Publishing Corporation(The Daily) will guarantee placement of ad-vertising for advertisements placed on page 2,page 3, and the back page of the StanfordDaily provided that placement will be guaran-teed to Advertiser on a first come first servebasis only on these pages for a surchargeequal to 15% of the total cost of the advertise-

    ment placed. The Daily will honor all otherpage/section requests to the extent possible ona first come first serve basis. The Daily will notguarantee placement for advertisements ex-cept as stated above and/or under the discre-tion of the Advertising Manager.

    (2) DeadlinesThe deadline to reserve advertising space, in-cluding artwork submission, is 5:00 pm on thethird business day prior to the date of publica-tion. Special issues may be subject to earlierdeadlines. The Daily may, in its sole discretion

    and subject to space availability, accept lateadvertisements each of which will be subject toan overtime charge equal to $25. If Advertiserssubmitted artwork does not meet The Dailysagreed-upon specifications. The Daily will con-tact Advertiser to resubmit the artwork. If no re-

    sponse or new artwork from the Advertiser isreceived prior to deadline, the regular design feeof $50 per ad will be automatically incurred byAdvertiser.

    (3) Cancellation of AdvertisementCancellation of advertising after the spacereservation deadlines, as defined in paragraph(2) above, will result in a charge equal to thecost of the cancelled advertisement.

    (4) Limitation of LiabilityThe Daily shall not be liable to Advertiser for anyerror except to the extent that the error (a) ma-terially interferes with the purpose of Advertiserin placing the advertisement, and (b) is broughtto the attention of the account executive withinfive (5) business days of the advertisementspublication. A recurring error shall not be re-garded as material where Advertiser fails to ob-ject following the first instance of the error. TheDailys liability, if any, is limited to the purchaseprice of the first incorrect advertisement only.The Daily is not responsible for incorrect copysubmitted by Advertiser.

    (5) ContentThe Daily will not publish any advertisementwhose contents may tend to incite violence,may be obscene or libelous, or may cast as-persions on individuals or groups on the basis

    of race, sex, sexual preference, national origin,age, physical disability, or other invidiousgrounds. The Daily reserves the right to rejectany advertisement at its sole discretion for anyreason or no reason. Any advertisement hav-ing the appearance of editorial material maybe identified as Paid Advertising at TheDailys sole discretion.

    (6) Defense and IndemnificationThe tender of advertising shall constitute anundertaking by Advertiser to defend and in-demnify The Daily and its officers, directors,agents, and employees against any and all lia-bility, loss or expense, including attorneys fees

    and court costs, arising from any and allclaims for libel, copyright infringement, or anyother claim resulting from publication of Ad-vertisers advertisement for The Daily.

    (7) Credit AccountsAdvertisers may establish a credit account withThe Daily by submitting a credit application.Credit is granted at the sole discretion of TheDaily. Advertisers may also be required to pre-pay for three advertisements prior to the estab-lishment of credit. One tear sheet will beprovided as proof of publication with the in-

    (8) New AdvertisersPrior to the approval of a credit applicatiofrom an Advertiser, advance payment is required for all advertising purchases. The accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Exprand checks as forms of advance paymentAdvertisers will be charged a $20.00 fee feach and every check returned for insufficfunds. In the event that an error or omissoccurs as outlined in Limitation of Liabilidiscounts and adjustments to bills will bebased on the percentage the error detractfrom the effectiveness of the total advertismessage, as determined by the AdvertisinManager.

    (9) Non-Compliance EnforcementIf Advertiser places fewer than the minimuamount of advertisements and/or column-inches contracted by June 30th of the indicated year, Advertiser will be notified and for the remaining ads at the full contract rReasonable attorneys fees and court cost

    shall be awarded to the prevailing party inlegal dispute arising out of or relating to thterms and conditions of this contract. Anylegal dispute shall be brought only in the Srior Court for the county of Santa Clara, Cfornia. This contract is governed by Califolaw (other than its choice of law principles

    (10) Severability; No WaiverIf any provision of this contract is held invaor unenforceable, such holding shall not athe remainder of this contract. The failureither party to enforce at any time any prosion or term of this contract, or in any righrespect thereof, shall not be a waiver of su

    provision, term or right or in any way affecvalidity of this contract.

    (11) Sole and Exclusive ContractThis is the sole and exclusive contract betwAdvertiser and The Daily establishing bulkvertising rates and terms for bulk advertisithe Stanford Daily and/or Stanford Weeklynewspapers during the term of the contracThis contract cannot be modified except bwritten and endorsed amendment theretoParagraphs 3, 5,7,8,9, and 10 shall survivtermination or cancellation of this contrac
