Stainless Steel Enclosures
SX Range – Stainless Steel
Enclosures made as standard from 2mm thick with 3mm thick gland plates
SX Enclosure
• 316L Stainless Steel (EN1.4404) body, cover and gland plates
• IP66/67 & Type 4X, DTS-01 deluge tested
• Gland plates can be fitted to any or all four sides
• Captive 316 stainless steel cover screws
• Hazardous Area versions suitable for -50°C to +175°C
Lift off Cover• Heavy duty solid block
hinges allow easy removal of the door with only minimal opening required before removal– less than 10°
• Secured by captive stainless steel screws– Maintain the correct

Component Mounting PlatesEarth Bar & Clamps
Surface Finishes
• Standard finish is Orbital or Shot Blast
• Options include:– Electro polished– Epoxy powder coated to
any RAL colour
Gland Selection• Select an gland with the
appropriate Ex coding and material to match the enclosure type
– Ex e enclosure requires gland with Ex e coding
– Avoid dissimilar metals• Is a sealing washer required?
– Recommended for Ex e & Ex de equipment
• Are entries threaded or clearance holes?
• Is a locknut, serrated washer or earth tag required?
Gland Clearances• When planning the number
of entries per side, the following clearances are recommended between entries:– M16 = 32mm– M20 = 39mm– M25 = 46mm– M32 = 58mm– M40 = 68mm
• Avoid possible locations of earth studs or breather drains

Enclosure Population
• Further details of typical terminal populations, drilling envelope dimensions and gland entry options can be found on each size enclosure datasheet.
• Complex configurations can also be created using the Abtech Enclosure Calculator:
– Completed AEC files can be emailed to speed up quotation process
• Always check the enclosure can accommodate the cable bending radius
