through school. After university he

became an Industrial Recruiter and then

the Manager of the Industrial Division. In

2004 Trevor became Chief Executive

Officer. As CEO, he ensures outstanding

service is provided by Diversified Staffing

Services and PEO Canada Ltd.

Andrew Ward – Vice-

President

Andrew’s first job

was in the

Industrial Division

as a temp for

DSS. Andrew then

became a touring golf pro in Canada and

the USA playing mini-tours and

tournaments. After competitive golf

Andrew returned to Calgary to work for

DSS. Today, Andrew oversees all

operating and service procedures,

including hiring, training, sales, and

marketing throughout DSS.

DIVERSIFIED STAFFING SERVICES PROFILE Diversified Staffing Services (DSS) is an Alberta owned and operated

company. Founded in Calgary by Randy and Marilyn Ward in 1978 with a

staff of 5 people, DSS has grown into the largest independent Staffing

Agency in Alberta. Currently, DSS has over 160 internal employees

strategically located across offices in Calgary, Edmonton, and Red Deer.

In the previous 3 years, DSS has employed over 20,000 people. Whether

it is temporary general labour, seasonal workers or full-time permanent

SCOPE OF SERVICES

Diversified Staffing Services operates with two recruitment divisions;

Office and Industrial. All of our clients’ recruitment services will be

coordinated through the division managers in their respective centers.

Each division is augmented by the Executive/Permanent Placements

Recruitment Specialists. Our clients’ Account Consultant will ensure

defined points of contact and offer customizable services comprised of:

TEMPORARY PLACEMENT Program built to support the rapidly scalable and timely placement of

skilled and qualified employees, ideal for short-term or long-term projects.

TEMPORARY TO PERMANENT Industry leading program to move employees from temporary DSS

employees to permanent employees, with no buyout fees once a term of

480 continuous hours is completed.

TEMPORARY TO BUDGET Long term cost savings program; once the selected employee has

completed a 480 hours continuous assignment, the fees will reduce to

include only the employee burdens and a small administration fee.

NON-CORE AND CONTRACTOR PAYROLL Diversified Staffing Services can provide contract payroll and non-core

payroll services for our clients’ employees; ideal when hiring summer

students, contract workers or trial-period workers. Extensive knowledge of

the employment legislation allows DSS to mitigate risk for clients,

candidates and payroll-employees.

INDUSTRIAL CANDIDATES

General Labour

DSS maintains a large and qualified candidate pool

and can provide the right people for the right amount

of time. All candidates are taken through an in-depth

in-person interview and orientation process to identify

and index their skill set. DSS will ensure that all

candidates arrive on site with full PPE and, when

necessary, WHMIS certification.

Warehouse

DSS understands that our client may not always have

the time to source qualified candidates for sudden or

temporary assignments. Upon request, DSS can

supply certified Forklift Operators, Shipper-Receivers

and General Labourers for clean-ups or inventory

counts.

Swamping

DSS understands that our client deals with multiple

appointments and fluctuations in shipment sizes and

staffing levels. We have designed our internal

systems to locate and dispatch the most qualified and

best suited candidates to our clients for planned or

last-minute assignments.

CONSTRUCTION CANDIDATES

Traffic Control

Diversified Staffing Services is proud to have in-house staff

that can train and certify candidates in flagging. In peak

flagging season DSS holds weekly flagging orientations to

ensure that the certified personnel arriving on-site are

knowledgeable and will work in accordance to the Alberta

Construction Safety Association (ACSA) regulations. During

all flagging orientations, DSS will also certify candidates in

WHMIS and all personnel will arrive with full PPE and

necessary traffic signage. Additionally, if radios are needed,

they will be provided.

Construction Labour

With a large and qualified candidate pool and a convenient 4

hour minimum, when unforeseen circumstances arise or an

extra hand is needed, Diversified Staffing Services can

provide the right people for the right amount of time. DSS is

Every candidate that comes to Diversified Staffing Services has a one-on-

speed, and general typing capabilities. DSS will also conduct further testing
