Staff members receiving tenure were: Joseph O’Neill, Melissa Nuwer, Sean Johnson, Danielle DiMora, Jennifer Renzi, Laura Robinson, Tessa Nicholson, and Adam Hawley. Staff Honored for Tenure, Service and Perfect Attendance

The North Rose-Wolcott Central School District recognized staff members for tenure, service, and perfect attendance at the annual opening day assembly. Staff members receiving tenure were: Joseph O’Neill, Melissa Nuwer, Sean Johnson, Danielle DiMora, Jennifer Renzi, Laura Robinson, Tessa Nicholson, and Adam Hawley. NRW High School teacher Jennifer Judge receives Outstanding Advisor Award

NRW varsity volleyball players hold up the sportsmanship banner the district received over the summer.

Athletics Department Recognized for SportsmanshipOver the summer, the North Rose-Wolcott Athletics Department was

recognized at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Annual Professional Development Workshop.

The district received honors for having zero disqualifications among coaches and students during the 2018-2019 school year. NRW Athletic Director Robyn Roberts-Grant was on hand at the workshop to accept a complimentary “Be Loud, Be Proud, Be Positive” Section V Sportsmanship Banner and a 2018-2019 decal to post on the banner. The banner will eventually be on display in the high school gymnasium.

“The banner is an amazing accomplishment for our district and we hope to continue to build on this in the future,” Roberts-Grant said.

Kellie Marciano has been appointed to Director of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services. She previously served as the Assistant Principal at North Rose-Wolcott Elementary for two years.Marciano attended SUNY Fredonia and received a degree in childhood education and students with disabilities in 2008. She went on to teach special education at Holley Central School District from 2008-2017. While teaching, she earned a master’s degree in literacy from Roberts Wesleyan University.Last year, Marciano earned a second master’s degree in education leadership from Western Governors University. She also completed an internship with the principal of the Elementary School, and another with the Director of Special Education.Marciano noted that she is excited for her new role in the district.

Christie Graves was recently named as the new Assistant Principal at North Rose-Wolcott Elementary. Previously, she was a teacher and instructional coach at Williamson Elementary School for 15 years.Graves attended SUNY Geneseo, where she majored in Elementary and Special Education with a minor in Psychology. She then went on to study Literacy Education at Nazareth College for her Master’s and completed her Educational Administration Degree at SUNY Brockport.“I look forward to working with Mrs. Pietricola, as well as the rest of our building faculty and staff, to continue to provide students with a positive and enriching school experience building a solid foundation for future years of education. NRWE is a special and unique community of which I am proud to be a part of,” Graves said.Graves currently resides in Williamson with her husband, three daughters, and two dogs.

North Rose-Wolcott High School business teacher Jennifer Judge was recently selected for the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Outstanding Advisor Award in honor of her contribution to the advancement of business education through FBLA. The award was given by the Business Teachers Association of New York State (BTANYS) as a result of Judge’s hard work as the FBLA Advisor for NRW.“I am sure Jennifer brings the same enthusiasm to the workplace and is a strong, contributing member,” said Sheila McIntyre, BTANYS Awards Chairperson.Judge is grateful for the award and hopes it is the start of another successful year for the NRW FBLA.“I have been involved in the FBLA since I was in high school,” said Judge. “I put a lot of time and effort into it, and I’m very honored and humbled to receive this award.”

High School’s “Back to School Bash” Attracts Large Crowd

Face-painting was a popular station at the “Back to School Bash.”

North Rose-Wolcott High School’s parking lot was packed for its first-ever “Back to School Bash” on Wednesday, August 28 as families and staff members gathered to celebrate the start of the school year.The event was planned by NRW High School staff members, who organized and supervised a free dinner, outdoor games, and other activities like face-painting. NRW High School Principal Brian Read credited teachers Amy Wiktorowicz and Nick Wojieck for the great idea. “I want to give a special thanks to Amy Wiktorowicz and Nick Wojieck for having the vision for this event,” said Read. “Without a doubt, this has been the most successful opening the high school has had since I’ve been here. It was the perfect way to start the year, and I can’t wait for what’s to come.”

Megan Paliotti, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and School Improvement, echoed Read’s sentiments.“Thank you to everyone who helped out with this event,” Paliotti said. “It was a huge turnout, and there was a true sense of community there.”During the “Back to School Bash,” the high school also hosted seventh grade orientation, freshman orientation, and an athletic informational meeting. Students and parents had the opportunity to meet staff members and ask questions.Students and staff alike noted that they were looking forward to the start of the school year.

Dear North Rose-Wolcott School Community,

This past Wednesday, I had the opportunity to present to the Board of Education the superintendent search process.

As you may be aware, at the July 2019 Board meeting, the Board of Education approved the appointment of Stephan J. Vigliotti as Deputy Superintendent effective January 1, 2020.

The Board of Education and I will work together to appoint an interim superintendent for the district, as I conduct the search for a new superintendent.

As the superintendent search consultant, I will guide the Board of Education, with your input, through the process to select the next North Rose-Wolcott Superintendent.

The anticipated search timeline is as follows:

• October - feedback and information gathering from all stakeholder groups

• November - position posted and advertised• December and January- application period• February/March - interview process• April - Board of Education appoints new superintendent• July 1, 2020 - anticipated start date

Through the search process, both the North Rose-Wolcott Board of Education and I are committed to involve all district stakeholders for their feedback. In the upcoming weeks, you will receive information on how you can share your input through multiple avenues including on-line surveys and/or focus groups prior to the Board posting for the position.

Superintendent Search Information Students Show Off Work at Elementary, Middle School Open HousesNorth Rose-Wolcott Elementary and Middle School students got a chance to show off their work at two Open Houses in September. Open House for Grades 3 through 6 was held on September 11, and Open House for UP-K through Grade 2 was held on September 12. Both events were held at NRWE.

Students showed their family members their classrooms and any projects they were working on in the very early weeks of the new school year. Teachers were able to get to know their students’ families better as they answered questions from guests.

NRWE Principal Melissa Pietricola and Middle School Principal Mark Mathews spoke to attendees as they walked through the building. Students and their families also got to know new NRWE Assistant Principal Christie Graves.

The book fair was also held during the first Open House. The hallway was crowded with students who were eager to buy and read new books.

Open House for Grades 8 through 12 will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9 at the high school.
