From our family to your family...Dear Friends,

Stadheim Jewelers is excited to invite you to our 60th Anniversary Celebration! Time has flown by since Arnold Stadheim started Stadheim Jewelers in the lobby of the Freeborn National Bank in downtown Albert Lea. It was 1953. Arnie, as he is known by most, had just one employee at that time. In 1969, Stadheim Jewelers moved just two doors away and opened what is our current Albert Lea store. Since that time, due to the support of our customers and their families, we have been able to expand Stadheim Jewelers to locations in Austin and Mason City as well.

As big box stores and huge corporations swallow up family businesses like ours on a daily basis, we feel extremely blessed to be celebrating our 60th year in business. From the day Arnie opened the door for business, Stadheim Jewelers has focused on quality products, fair prices and above all else, unsurpassed customer service. We have said this before, but as long as our family name is above the door, we will continue to treat every customer as family too! Thank you very much for the support you have provided the Stadheim family since 1953.

This 60th Anniversary magazine represents many of the quality companies we are able to represent. Many have been with us for decades. Inside the back cover please see our 60th Anniversary calendar of events. We have several of our best companies joining us between now and Christmas. Our 60th Anniversary Celebration will feature an incredible selection of beautiful jewelry treasures at special anniversary savings.

We look forward to seeing you during the holidays! Again, thank you for making our 60th Anniversary a special time for the entire Stadheim Jewelers family and our entire employee group.

Sincerely,

P.S. Please plan to attend our 60th Anniversary Open House on Thursday, November 21, from 4pm to 7pm at Prairie Wind Coffee right next to our downtown Albert Lea store. Arnie will be present and looks forward to seeing everyone!

One of a KindCustom Designed Jewelry

B efore anyone considers investing in a custom designed jewelry piece, they need to be certain the jeweler has the credentials, training, experience and equipment to perform the task. Stadheim Jewelers has it all!

Tim Fuller of Stadheim Jewelers is one of a very select group of people in America to earn the distinction of a JA Certified Master Bench Jeweler. This is the highest degree a bench jeweler can achieve, and is awarded by Jewelers of America, Inc, the National Trade Association for retail jewelers.

In partnership with Tim’s experience and knowledge, Stadheim Jewelers has invested in computer aided design (CAD) and laser technology, which allow them to design one-of-a-kind jewelry treasures, unique to your wishes.

CAD saves time and allows for perfect measurements and placement. A laser requires very little heat, so an excellent weld can be accomplished without risk to rare, sensitive and expensive settings and stones. The laser weld is also much stronger than old-fashioned solder, and will fuse with any metal.

Tim Fuller says it best, “Our CAD designing, combined with laser technology, allows us to create unique and beautiful jewelry that others cannot even attempt.” If a one of a kind jewelry design is something you treasure, our Certified Master Bench Jeweler, Tim Fuller, can do it.

fter completing high school in Albert Lea, serving two years in the US Navy, graduating from watchmaking school in kansas, and attending the Minnesota School of Business, Arnold Stadheim returned home to Freeborn County in 1951 and went to work as a watchmaker and jeweler for Fred M. Goers. Mr. Goers had Fred’s Diamond Shop, located in the lobby of the Medical Arts Building in downtown Albert Lea. The entire store measured just 8’ x 20’ - with a storage room that was only 4 square feet.

In 1953, Arnold purchased the business from Mr. Goers and continued to operate in the same location for 15 years, until 1968, with just one employee, Gordon kanne. In 1969, with the business growing, Arnold purchased the Corrigan Ben Franklin store at 215 South Broadway in Albert Lea. After a complete remodeling, Stadheims moved into this new and larger location, which is still the location of the Albert Lea store today.

The larger store allowed for a much greater selection, and through the support of the community and surrounding area, the store and the Stadheim family continued to grow. As family members became involved in the jewelry business, Stadheims took the giant step to add additional locations in nearby communities. The Austin store opened in 1983 at the Oak Park Mall, but has since moved to its own location on 18th Avenue. The original Mason City store opened in the Southbridge Mall in 1986, moved to its 4th Street location by the Medical Arts building, then eventually moved to its current location further west on 4th Street by the Mason City Chamber of Commerce building.

Three children are now involved in the business: Mark Stadheim (President), Jeff Stadheim (Vice President) and Beth Ordalen (Certified Gemologist Appraiser). Arnold, officially retired, but still stops by the Albert Lea store often.

“Since the beginning, we have always specialized in diamonds,” according to Arnold Stadheim. “Over the years we have always purchased our diamonds and precious gems direct from the cutters to provide our customers with the

best possible quality and selection, as well as the best possible price. Trips to the major gem markets of New York, Antwerp, Bangkok, Switzerland, Hong kong and Germany have allowed us to eliminate the middlemen, passing the savings on to the customers we serve.”

Mark Stadheim adds, “We are now one of a select few family owned jewelers in the US who have a site agreement with a South African diamond mine and travel to South Africa annually to hand select all of our diamonds and precious gems. This allows us to unconditionally guarantee that quality for quality, our prices on diamonds and precious gems cannot be matched.”

Arnold Stadheim has a simple philosophy for the beloved business he started, “We simply have always tried to treat each customer as a friend, and offer that friend the best value. That’s what has taken us the first 50 years and hopefully will take us another 50 years.”

In 1965, Stadheim Jewelers became members of the American Gem Society, a professional society for jewelry stores who display the highest level of knowledge, ethics and integrity with their customers. They have also maintained membership and leadership roles in state and national organizations. Arnold served as president of the Minnesota Retail Jewelers in 1980, and was a member of the board of directors of the Retail Jewelers of America and American Gem Society from 1985 to 1988. An AGS (American Gem Society) title is one of the most prestigious representations of educational accomplishments in the jewelry industry.

Arnold became a member in 1967, receiving his Registered Jeweler title. Beth became a member in 1974 with the RJ (Registered Jeweler) title, continuing her education to become a Certified Gemologist Appraiser in 1988. All of the Stadheims have also taken Diamond Grading and Evaluation classes from the Gemological Institute of America. In addition, Arnold, Mark, Jeff and Beth have all had involvement in many local organizations in the communities that Stadheim Jewelers serve.
