BOARD OF APPRENTICE TRAINING:Started 5 decades ago by Ministry of Education & Government of India.The scheme is named as Practical Training Stipendiary SchemeObjectives of BOAT: Providing Practical Training to the fresh Engineering Graduates and Diploma Holders in Engineering.Objectives of Apprenticeship Act 1961:(i)To regulate the program of training of apprentices in industries so as to conform tothe syllabi, period of training etc. prescribed by the Central Apprenticeship Council and(ii)To utilize fully the facilities available in industries for imparting practical training with a view to meet the requirements of skilled workers in the country.

IMPORTANCE OF APPRENTICESHIP SCHEME & APPRENTICE :Apprenticeshipis a system oftraininga new generation of practitioners of atradeorprofessionwith on-the-job training and often some accompanying study (classroom work and reading). Apprenticeship also enables practitioners to gain alicenseto practice in aregulated profession.Apprenticesorprotgsbuild theircareersfrom apprenticeships. Most of their training is done while working for an employer who helps the apprentices learn their trade or profession, in exchange for their continued labor for an agreed period after they have achieved measurable competencies

Objective:Stabilizing the Administration of Apprenticeship scheme atWuerth Elektronik India Pvt Ltd.Deliverables:Sourcing & Hiring of Apprentices trainees as per the eligibility criteria prescribed by the Board of Apprenticeship training.Registration of the Apprentice Trainees as per the guidelines.Periodical assessment of Apprentice Trainees and filing of form No. APP 6 Quarterly assessment formTraining completion reportsSubmission of stipend of claims.Termination of contract if any.Apply for certificate of proficiency.

Define:The project was carried out understand the Gamut of operations involved in the Apprentice Training which is imparted to engineers & diploma holders in mechanical & E&C stream.Through this study some of the Gaps were observed, we identified them & provided suitable solutions so that the practical requirements of the evolving industry can be met.

Even though the Industry pre-requisite is of the diploma candidates, it is always been observed that, the engineering candidates precedes the diploma candidates

Why Diploma Candidates dont opt for the Apprenticeship Scheme:Diploma candidates due to the lateral entry in engineering courses, they do not opt for apprenticeship scheme. Due to this situation in the market, even the approved number cannot be taken for the training.Lack of awareness on the apprenticeship scheme at the college level leads to the candidates opting for salary based jobs rather than getting trained for a stipend.

Assessment:(Very hectic Task)Quarterly Assessments of apprentice trainees along with their respective mentors, team leaders, training head and HR will be conducted.Feedback on the apprentice trainees performance during the quarter is shared and clear expectation for the upcoming quarters is discussed. Present APP-6: The names of the apprentices together in each quarter and the details could be filled up and sent to BOAT for the quarterly up dation. The change brought in saved a lot of time because the work was completed in just a matter of 2 days. So you can see that with the new change in the app 6 form ,it led to a minimizing time which the employee could use to do some other productive work rather than spending here the whole time and refrain from piling up the other work.

Present Claim Form:

Single sheet of Claim form for whole Quarter is done.Separate column named Signature of Trainee is introduced in the Claim sheet. Under this column:1.The Apprentice trainee who are present in that quarter are asked to sign for having received the stipend2.Incase if the Apprentice trainee is left in one of the months in that quarter, his bank statement is attached instead of his signature.Lot of Time is also reduced.
