Shout-Outs! I want to take this opportunity to recognize many people for their time, efforts, and dedication; especial- ly, with all the recent back-to-back STA events. Starting with Mrs. T, Mrs. Kelley, and Mrs. Stevens for sharing their love of music with our STA parish school community; the spring concert was an evening of joy and admiration. Tuesday, May 16th was a celebration to support the Brewers baseball season with a tailgate luncheon organized by student council, Mrs. Ewald, Mrs. Samson, and our grill masters Mr. Morrical and Mr. Moriva. Thank you for the oppor- tunity to enjoy an all school fellowship event along with a variety of games to play. In the spirit of team- work, I want to recognize our 2016/2017 STA com- mittees: school committee, finance, athletic associa- tion, endowment, and home & school. Each group of volunteers are essential to fulfilling the mission of our parish school. There are openings in many of the committees for the 2017/2018 school year; however, the greatest need is our home & school executive board. They work so tirelessly to bridge communica- tion of school events with families and parishioners. Thank you President Amber Aussem, Vice-president Laura Kester, Treasurer Ann Lininger, and Secretary Jenn Miller for your efforts this past year. Team- work is like an engine, where every single part is im- portant and cannot function without the others. Shout-Outs!

I want to take this opportunity to recognize many

people for their time, efforts, and dedication; especial-

ly, with all the recent back-to-back STA events.

Starting with Mrs. T, Mrs. Kelley, and Mrs. Stevens

for sharing their love of music with our STA parish

school community; the spring concert was an evening

of joy and admiration. Tuesday, May 16th was a

celebration to support the Brewers baseball season

with a tailgate luncheon organized by student council,

Mrs. Ewald, Mrs. Samson, and our grill masters Mr.

Morrical and Mr. Moriva. Thank you for the oppor-

tunity to enjoy an all school fellowship event along

with a variety of games to play. In the spirit of team-

work, I want to recognize our 2016/2017 STA com-

mittees: school committee, finance, athletic associa-

tion, endowment, and home & school. Each group of

volunteers are essential to fulfilling the mission of our

parish school. There are openings in many of the

committees for the 2017/2018 school year; however,

the greatest need is our home & school executive

board. They work so tirelessly to bridge communica-

tion of school events with families and parishioners.

Thank you President Amber Aussem, Vice-president

Laura Kester, Treasurer Ann Lininger, and Secretary

Jenn Miller for your efforts this past year. Team-

work is like an engine, where every single part is im-

Making the Grade

Well Done, STA!

Just a reminder...please pick up medications kept in the school office before the end of the school year (cough drops, Tylenol, etc.) We will be disposing of all medications left after June

1st. Thank you.

With the school year coming to an end, please check

the Lost and Found box in the school hall for any

missing items, as anything not claimed will be donat-

ed after June 1st. Thank you.

The Athletic Association is still in need of a volleyball

coordinator for the 2017-18 school year. Duties include

reporting home game scores and attending initial meet-

ing on 5/31/17. ************************************************************

We had a great trip to the Zoo on Monday, May 15 - we were blessed with beautiful weather and lots of parent chaperones to share the day with us. We loved our class on African Safari animals and learned about the tallest, heaviest, fastest, and slowest animals of the savannah! We are also happy to be able to participate fully in the mass now that we have 2 Sun-days and one school mass under our belts! God Bless all of the St. Thomas First Communicants!

5th Graders have been analyzing our country's national anthem in social studies. They have learned who wrote it (Francis Scott Key) and why he wrote it (after the War of 1812). "The Star Spangled Banner" lyrics weren't officially our national anthem until 1931 when Presi-dent Herbert Hoover signed the act into Law. As a culminating project, students will be writing a poem that represents the sights and sounds here at St. Thomas.

With the year wind-ing down, the sixth graders are wrap-ping up their unit on the Ancient In-cas. They are put-ting together every-thing they know in order to set up their own Inca market-place. The students are working togeth-er to create a store-front and shop fea-turing a product or service important to the Incas. We will set up our village to share with the school on Monday!

Mrs. Samson’s Lunch Line As the end of the school year quickly approaches, STA Hot Lunch is reminding families to log on to e-funds and check student bal-ances. Please note that any negative balance must be paid in full prior to the last day of school, or by May 24th for 8th grade fami-lies. Report cards will be held pending payment. In addition, families with a balance of $5.00 or more, may request a refund on or before June 1, 2017. Balances not refunded will be applied toward the next school year. If you have any questions regarding your account, please feel free to contact Mrs. Samson at [email protected]. ****************************************************

The STA Staff would like to thank Home and

School and all the volunteers for EVERY-

THING you did during Staff Appreciation

Week. All the time and volunteering put into

the luncheons, snack and breakfast bars, re-

cess and lunchroom duties, sidewalk mes-

sages and overall planning was amazing and

appreciated! You know how to make the staff

feel special. THANK YOU!

Have you been noticing little to no Labels for Education appearing on your favorite foods? The Labels for Education program, sponsored by the Campbell’s Soup Compa-ny is in its final stages and will soon be dis-continued. With this in mind, please send any labels you have been collecting to ei-ther the school OR deposit in box in The Gathering Space at church.

We are asking for all to be turned in ASAP, with final deadline of the end of May so we can process the remaining and pick our fi-nal prize for the school.

Thank You for your continued support.

All STA Readers:

This is the last week to collect page totals...we are currently at 246,268. That means only 3732 more pages need to be read. (There will be an all school read on Wednesday, May 24th at 7:30am to help reach this goal.) You’ve done great so far and with everyone participating, this is very obtainable . LET’S GO STA, WE CAN DO THIS!!!
