MID-LENT CHECK-IN God says to Moses, “This is what you shall tell the Israelites: I AM sent me to you . . . The Lord, the God of your [ancestors], the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob” (Exodus 3:14, 15). As Jesus would later say, God is not a God of the dead, but of the living, and so we believe that the dead will one day rise. At this midpoint of Lent, we pause to consider how our repentance is leading us to the Resurrection, to our reunion with the great “I AM.” Part of our repentance involves working to secure justice for all and helping our neighbor to live in God’s ways. We encourage each other and nurture each other, like the compassionate garden-er of today’s Gospel, who tells the owner of the or-chard that he will nurture the tree, fertilize it, and perhaps it will bear fruit.

UNPLANNED

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Friday, April 5, the First Friday of the month, from 9am to 10pm. Mass is celebrated at 12pm. Please come and join us for Adoration on this First Fri-day. We need people to sign up for a Holy Hour during the 13 hours. The sign-up sheet is on the parish bulletin board in the church hall. Please consider signing up for an hour to ensure we have every hour covered, and hopefully by more than just one person per hour.

BLESSED SACRAMENT ADORATION

Lately, I have noticed that some individuals when they come to receive communion are coming up and are not saying “Amen” or not showing the reverence to the Eucharist. Each person has the choice to receive the consecrated host either on the hand or on the tongue. Our response as we are receiving the consecrated host or precious blood is “Amen,” which is another way of saying I believe. We are to approach the Eucharist with reverence, not with our hands in our pockets or laughing and talking with others. Please be mindful of the reverence of the Holy Eucharist when we come up to receive communion and while we are inside the church. I have noticed lately many people chewing gum during Mass. Please discard your gum in the proper trash containers as you enter the church. May God continue to bless all of you

If you took a baby bottle from the Alpha Preg-nancy Clinic table after Mass several weeks ago and have not yet returned it, Alpha needs those bottles back now. Please bring the baby bottles back and place them in the box in the hall. Alpha appreciates all donations. Thank you.

RETURN BABY BOTTLES FOR ALPHA

During Lent we will be selling paschal candles for home after mass outside the church. We have several options of size and design. The Paschal Candle will be blessed on the Easter Vigil Mass on April 20th. The funds from the sales will be to support our parish of St. Thomas Aqui-nas. Thanks for your support. The light of

the candle, symbol of Christ who illuminates the world with the brightness of his divinity, evi-denced by his Resurrection. The candle is used at home in moments of prayer, in moments of spiritual tribulation, when you pray the rosary, in times of hardship or for a sick person. These are some examples of the use of the candle.

THE TABLE All of you may be aware that our parish St. Thomas Aquinas is responsible for preparing food for the those in need. Meals are prepared at the Presbyterian Church every third Thursday of each month. Frank Mourad has been heading the cooking and baking for St. Thomas Aquinas for many years and we are thankful for his ser-vice. He is ready to hand over this mission to someone else. We are looking for someone who can share their talent and time for the less fortu-nate. Anyone interested please talk to Frank Mourad or call the parish office.

Durante la Cuaresma estaremos vendiendo cirios después de misa afuera del templo. Tenemos varias opciones de tamaño y dise-ño. El cirio pascual será bendecido el Sába-do de Gloria en la misa de vigilia el 20 de abril. Los fondos recaudados eran para la Parroquia de Santo Tomas de Aquino. Gra-cias por tu apoyo. de Cristo que ilumina al mundo con el brillo de su divinidad, evidenciada con su Resurrección. El cirio se utiliza en casa en momentos de ora-ción, en momentos de tribulación espiritual, cuando rezas el rosario, en momentos de alguna desgracia o por algún enfermo. Estos son algu-nos ejemplos para elevar tus plegarias a Dios.

En la Iglesia de Santo Tomás tene-mos la Adoración del Santísimo Sacramento el viernes 5 de abril y el primer viernes de cada mes, de 9am a 10pm. El Santísimo Sacra-mento estará expuesto en la custo-dia en el altar para Adoración y oración hasta las 10pm y la misa se celebrará a las 12pm en Ingles. Por

favor venga y acompáñenos para la Adoración en este primer viernes. Invitamos que personas se registren para una Hora Santa. La hoja de ins-cripción está en el tablero de anuncios en el sa-lón de la iglesia. Considere inscribirse durante una hora para asegurarse de que tengamos por lo menos un adorador por hora, y si es posible más de una persona por hora.

Últimamente, he notado que algunas personas cuando vienen a recibir la comunión están llegando y no dicen "Amén" o no muestran la reverencia a la Eucaristía. Cada persona tiene la opción de recibir la hostia consagrada, ya sea en la mano o en la lengua. Nuestra respuesta cuando recibimos la hostia consagrada o la sangre preciosa es "Amén", que es otra forma de decir lo que creo. Debemos acercar-nos a la Eucaristía con reverencia, no con las manos en los bolsillos o riendo y hablando con otros. Por favor, tenga en cuenta la reverencia de la Sagrada Eucaristía cuando venimos a recibir la comu-nión y mientras estamos dentro de la iglesia. Últimamente he notado que muchas personas mastican chicle durante la misa. Por favor, deseche su chicle en los contenedores de basura apropiados al en-trar a la iglesia. Que Dios continúe bendiciéndolos a todos.

PELÍCULA “UNPLANNED” El 29 de marzo se estrena la película pro vida titulada Unplanned. Basada de la vida real de la exdirectora de Planned Parenthood, Abby John-son, quien tubo una conversión poderosa y aho-ra es una activista provida. La película estrena el fin de semana de 29 al 31 de marzo en el cine de Napa. Apoyemos esta película inspiradora.

Se les pide a todos los que estén enfermos, en silla de ruedas, o que no puedan caminar fácil-mente y quieran recibir la comunión en la Misa, favor de sentarse en las primeras bancas de la iglesia y darnos a saber, antes de la misa, que les gustaría recibir la comunión para estar seguros de que vayan a recibir la comunión.
