Twenty-Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time

As the economy fluctuate, preoccupation with money remains constant. The most difficult circumstances breed shrewd speculators who know how to play the market. They place their capital astutely and realize a good return. We often admire such people. They know how to take care of themselves. They proceed with cleverness and intelligence. They “succeed” in life. The manager in today’s gospel, accused of dissipating his master’s goods, rewrites all of the accounts. Jesus admires not his lack of scruples but his ingenuity. Before he is fired, he takes advantage of the short time left to him to make friends. They will remember him when he is put out the door. What an oppor-tunist has done in the affairs of this world, we must also do in the conquest of the kingdom of God. Jesus show us a sound investment. He de-scribes Christian cleverness in the domain of seductive wealth. Its formidable powers of attraction may draw us into offering it a wor-ship which ought to be given only to God. We must restore money to its role as a means and not an end. We are only stewards of our mas-ter’s property. We can hold no exclusive title to what belongs to all his people. We must use it in service of his kingdom.

TODAY: Institute for Public Life

“Building Long-Term Power” This afternoon, Sunday, Sept. 22, from 3 to 5 p.m., at St. Therese Catholic Church, 300 Mil-dred NW (at 4th St.), Albuquerque Interfaith will kick off a NEW Institute for Public Life series on "Building Long-Term Power," to strengthen the organization by returning to the fundamentals of organizing. The series of five workshops this fall will begin today with “Organizing 101,” looking at broad-based relational/institutional organizing, so that the myriad of folks that have been recruited to the immigration/behavioral health/public educa-tion work can learn about how AI approaches building long-term power. [NOTE: This will take the place of the AI Accountability Session with city council/school board candidates originally scheduled for today.]

favors Thou hast showered upon the soul of Thy servant Théresé of the Child Jesus, during the 24 years she spent here on earth, and in consideration of the merits of this, Thy most beloved saint, I beseech Thee to grant me this favor, if it is in accordance with Thy most Holy Will and is not an obstacle to my salvation. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at our

Glorious Shrine of the Little Flower

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place on a regular basis at Saint Therese. Every Thursday Evening in the Church. First Friday of the Month from Friday Evening thought the early morning hours of Saturday culminating in the 8 am Satur-day Morning Mass. Adoration of the Blessed Sac-rament also takes place once a month on Saturday Evening in the context of the Noche de Alabanza in the Parish Hall’s Gymnasium. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament also every Friday from 9 am thru 12 Noon in the comfortable and cozy sur-roundings of the Rectory. On a dark and cold win-ter day, the fireplace of the Rectory Living room is on with a cozy fire in the lovely ambience of the beautiful rooms. The reason for Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on Friday in the Rectory rather than the Shrine building is for safety. Can you imagine a deprived and possibly depraved man once sat behind an elderly woman praying in a nearly empty Immaculate Conception Church, Downtown. Kneeling right behind her he whis-pered to her: “Lady if you give me your money, I won’t hurt you!” Isn’t that true story quite chill-ing? Such depravity! So this is the reason on Fri-day we don’t leave the Church open for Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. For folks’ safety have the Exposition in the safe, comfortable and cozy living room of the Rectory.
