Together Encounter Together

Christ (TEC) Retreat

A TEC retreat is scheduled for February 16-18 at

St. Theodore’s Church in Albert Lea. Retreat attendees must be 16 years of age or older. You can sign up by contacting Monica Anderson at [email protected] or 507-363-1809.

Pathways TEC is a Diocese of Winona-Rochester supported event which is a three-day retreat weekend based on the Paschal Mystery: the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Pathways TEC allows teens and adults, during the weekend to be participants in encountering Christ as the family of God. A TEC weekend works to build spiritual growth through participation in group activities. Although some time is given for individual prayer and reflection, the emphasis throughout the weekend is on group participation through music, discussions, talks, prayer, Scripture, Mass and celebration.

Thank you to everyone who supported our Taco Night! Every little bit helps us continue to get closer to our goal!

We have no Sunday Faith Formation on January 20th.

Our annual Souper Bowl of Caring will be held at each Mass the weekend of February 2nd & 3rd.

• St. Theodore Faith Formation •

From the Desk of Father Kurt “They have no wine!”

These are the only recorded words of Mary to her son Jesus, and although they are only a few, they speak volumes. These words reveal a familiarity and intimacy between Jesus and his Mother that we don’t see with Jesus’s other relationships. It is a beautiful look at how the divinity of Jesus is expressed through his humanity. Jesus answers His mother as many of us would answer our own mothers, when we feel they might be overstepping boundaries. He asks her how her concern is his concern, but then responds to her request with promptness and diligence. He reforms his first miracle and sets the stage for his next three years of ministry.

As Jesus transformed that water into wine, Jesus is desirous to

change our humanity into His divinity. When one enters into a

relationship with Christ that is authentic, transformation is inevitable.

Through the humanity of Christ Jesus we will be caught up into His

divinity. Like Mary, who believed her son was her savior and God, we

too must come to realize and bow down to the one who extends his

hand to us in human friendship, only to take us up into the mystery of

God.
