October 14d,2010Hon. Elizabeth S. Crowley64-77 Dry Harbor Rd.Middle Village, NY I 1379Dear Council Member Crowley:

Since 1947, Maspeth Federal Savings has alwaysbeen a dedicated, caring bank that is comrnitted to thewell-being of our communiry. We thereforewrite to you today in support of a park at the former site of St.Saviour's Church, located at 58& Street and 57& Road in wesrern Masoerh.Commerce and industry in the area are most certainly positive things from our perspective, but weunderstand that they sometimeshaveunintended effects on the quality-of-life of neighboring residents, whoare our customers. Heavy truck trafffc causes environmental hazards. Creating more green space inMaspeth is therefore something that we believe will benefft the community as a whole. It will improve thewell-being of workers and residents, is likely to aftract new customers and enterprises and revitalizeMaspeth's residential and businesssectorsby increasing property values. While an active church, this site served the business community for almost 160 years. The congreganonsthat worshipped here welcomed area workers to use the grounds for relaxation during their breala. Thischariable spirit has always been qpical of Maspeth but unfortunately is somerhing that the current ownersof the property have not expressed. The best chance o open this land back up to the community would beby creating a public park on the premises.'We are in firll support of this project and encourage you and Maspe*r's other elected representatives oallocate additional funding toward making it happen.Yours truly,
