My Brother Knights: Brothers, recently I submitted the report to apply for our Star Council award. There are three parts to this award. The programs we have com-pleted for the year. Insurance applications and new members. We have three new members to apply for insurance, and four new members that completed their first degree in our Council. Not only have we achieved this, I believe we have enough new members for a Double Star Award. We have less than two months left to recruit more members which possi-bly we could reach the level of Triple Star. I have to give credit and thank our membership committee team for the time they put in to recruit new Knights. One of the Membership Committee member is C.J. Kliebert. His recent ideas along with his desire to discuss and share with others about the Knights has been his success to attract new members. C.J. is also in line to receive the Knights in Shining Armor Award and will complete the re-quirements in July. He has attended many of our functions including tak-ing new members to their 1st Degree. Congratulation C.J. you are the Knight of the Month.
This past month Richard Adriano and I attended St. Michaels Veterans Center’s fried chicken contest. Our Council donated a thirty dollar 1st place prize gift certificate to the winner. At the fried chicken dinner the staff announced St Michaels Vet Center will start planning for the 2nd phase of building another complex next to the existing building this month. Our Council is raffling off a used mini-bike in like new condition, donat-ed by one of our members, James Dunkin. We are selling one dollar chances or six chances for five dollars. The drawing will be at Fr. John’s Pig Roast on May 16. You do not have to be present but the mini-bike must be picked up by an adult. May 16 will be a busy day. Our Council is one of the sponsors of Knights of Columbus, Knights on Bikes Dice Run. This event will start at 8:30 am. This will be a 100 mile run starting at Blue Spring Harley Davidson and end at St. Margaret’s Parish in Lee’s Summit. Proceeds will go to the Special Olympics of Missouri. We also will be setting up, cooking, serv-ing and clean-up for Fr. John’s Pig Roast. If you want to help please email me.
News flash
Welcome to our newest member Troy Hocker. He completed his first degree on April 14, 2015. Welcome Troy!
The Grand Knight’s Corner continued
On May 23rd our Council will be serving food at the American Inn to the less fortunate. These Families do not have a home. We are working with the Peace and Justice Committee to find a family who would like to get out of the motel and into a place of their own.
Peace be with you and thanks be to God, Tommy
Knights of Columbus Council Officers for next year
My Brother Knights: At our May 13th, General Business Meeting, we will elect our Council Officers for the next fraternal year. As part of our assigned duties, the Trustees of our Council put forth the following list of candidates for your considera-tion. While we have confidence in each of these men, this is in no way to discourage a member from nominating himself or a Brother Knight as an alternative. Nominations will be encouraged and accepted from the floor. A Council thrives through strong and active leadership! Fraternally yours, Ron Rey, 3 Yr. Trustee Ken Yunker, 2 Yr. COUNCIL EVENTS
Brother Knight Paul Gros and helpers was one of the several volunteers who helped pass out carnations for Mother’s Day. Our
council collected $336.72. Thanks to everyone who volunteered.
My Brother Knights: Thanks to Wendell Vice, we now have found a local company, R&R Buttons, that will provide our KofC “dress shirts”. While the prices are only a couple of $s less per shirt, we can get all sizes, many more color selections, we do not have to pay any shipping charges, and we keep our money in the community. These polo shirts are a 35/65% blend of cotton and polyester. They come with our embroidered KofC emblem, Council Name, number and your first name. Wendell is wearing Royal Blue. While there are many colors to choose from, the larger sizes (above XL are the ones with 4 dots). To date we have members with, White, Royal Blue, Navy Blue, and Kelly Green. The cost is $27 for S, M, L, and XL. Us “portly” guys have to pay a little more- ($29=2XL, $30=3XL, $31-4XL & $32-5XL). Since these will be customized with your name, we will need your money upfront. If you are interested, please let Wendell know the following information if you wish to place an order: Your full Name: _____________________________ (Ken Yunker) Name you want embroidered on the shirt _____________ (Ken, Kenny, nick-name?) Shirt size: ____________ (S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL) Cost: ___________ ( $27= S,M,L,XL, $29=2XL, $30=3XL, $31-4XL & $32-5XL). Would you rather have long sleeves? Add $6.00 to the cost.
Long Sleeve: Yes (Please circle if you want Long Sleeve)
The following information and check can be given or mailed to Wendell Vice.
Wendell’s home address is: Wendell Vice
