STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT “Therefore, stay awake! For you do not know
on which day your Lord will come."
(Matthew 24:42)
People who have had health issues or near-death experiences gen-
erally have a greater appreciation for each day being a gift from
God. The rest of us usually take for granted that we will be
around tomorrow. But when you start to look at each day as a
gift, you realize all the little miracles that happen daily and grow
in gratitude for all that we have been given. You begin to see
God’s active presence in your life.

ber 5th, will be held in the Church. It is held Thursday before the

completely – with unconditional love.
-If you have been hurt by the Church, we are truly sorry.
-If you are angry, Jesus offers you peace.
-If life has become burdensome, we are here to support you.
-We are happy you are here and want you to stay.
-We would like to share our lives with you.
-Come join us each week so we can worship together.
Our Faith: Happy New Year ! For
our Church it is! The First Sunday of
Advent is the beginning of our Liturgi-
cal Year. We mark these weeks with
our Advent Candle scene, which, as
you know from last year this wreath
was once lit by Sgt. Sean Gannon back
when he was my altar server at St.
Francis Xavier in Acushnet. It has “come home” to us and we are
honored to have this wonderful decoration for the Season.
The First Two weeks of Advent we reflect on the coming of
Christ at the end of time and what that means for us. Then in the
next Two weeks we ponder the meaning of His coming in history
with salvation for us!
Don’t Forget! Brunch with Santa this Sunday Morning. Our
School is again sponsoring the best breakfast in town after all
morning Masses this weekend! Come and join us and see Santa
as well!
Marian Medal: Just a reminder : Rebecca Galler izzo will be
receiving her Marian Medal Award from Bishop daCunha this
Sunday December 1 at the Cathedral in Fall River. If you have
not yet congratulated her, please feel free. Thanks again for your
service to our parish!
Vocations: “They shall beat their swords into plowshares and
their spears into pruning hooks….” If you think that God is call-
ing you to serve the Lord of the harvest as a priest, deacon, sister
or brother, Contact the Vocation Office at fallrivervocations.org
Our Vocations Prayer Group will meets each Thursday from
5:30-6:30PM. Sacrament of Reconciliation is available
Questions of the Week! Adults: Following the example of Jesus, what is the best way
to exercise your authority over others?
Children: What qualities would a good leader have? Which
of these are you trying to develop?
A Smile from the Mooney Archives: At a par ty of profession-
als, a doctor was having difficulty socializing. Everyone wanted
to describe their symptoms and get an opinion about diagnosis.
The doctor turned to a lawyer acquaintance and asked, "How do
you handle people who want advice outside of the office?"
"Simple," answered the lawyer, "I send them a bill. That stops
it."
The next day, the doctor, still feeling a bit reserved about what he
had just finished doing, opened his mailbox to send out the bills.
Much to his surprise, there sat a bill from the lawyer.
CHRISTMAS GIVING PROGRAM We are working with the Yarmouth Food Pantry
again this year to provide Christmas gifts for chil-
dren of families in need. This weekend is the last
opportunity to select a gift tag to purchase a gift for this pro-
gram. Please see our volunteers in the Narthex after all Masses if
you would like to take part. The gifts must be returned un-
wrapped, in a gift bag, by December 9th.
HELP WITH CHRISTMAS GIVING If you would like to
help organize the gifts on December 11th at 10AM, please call/
email the Religious Education office.

FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT
THE JESSE TREE The Jesse Tree represents the Old Testament
people who waited for the first coming of Christ.
Each week we recall key people from the Old
Testament who helped God’s people prepare for
Christ. by placing symbols on a tree that repre-
sents them. We also give the scripture references
for better understanding. Refer: Luke 3:23-27.
ADAM AND EVE: The fir st man and woman according to
the story were made good but they disobeyed God and began sin
in the world. Their sin began humanity’s waiting for the Messi-
ah. Refer: Genesis, Chapter 3. Symbol: Apples
NOAH: God wanted to save the wor ld from sin. He did this
through the flood waters. The flood destroyed all the evil in the
world, except Noah, his family and all the animals on the Ark.
At the end of the flood, Noah set free the doves. They returned
with olive branches, Noah then knew the flood was over and they
were saved. Refer: Genesis, 6-9. Symbols: Doves and Birds.
ABRAHAM AND ISAAC: Abraham was the fir st person
God called to faith and He made him the father of believers. God
tested his faith asking him to sacrifice his only son, Isaac. Abra-
ham was obedient but an angel stopped him. God was happy
with Abraham and promised his descendants would be as numer-
ous as the stars, Angels and sand. Genesis, 15:1-6 & 22:1-19
Symbols: stars, angels, sand
JACOB: J acob was Isaac’s son. He had a dream with angels
climbing up and down a ladder uniting earth to heaven. In the
dream God promised land to the chosen people. Refer: Genesis,
28:10-22. Symbol: Ladder
YOUTH MINISTRY UPDATE The St. Pius X Youth Group assisted the Yar-
mouth Food Pantry with the YPD Stuff-A-
Cruiser Event. The day was spent unloading
and sorting the many donations that came in
throughout the day. It was a great experience
for all those who were there to help! We look forward to helping
at the Pantry again in the near future! Great job Youth Ministry!
