Thank you from the Vestry “I am St. Philip’s”
On Easter Sunday, March 27th, the Vestry handed out travel tumblers with “I am St. Philip’s” printed on the side. Jamie Wince, Senior Warden, explained during the announcement time that the idea of the gift was formed after she had seen a saying on Facebook- “God is not calling us to GO to church, He is calling us to BE his church,
The Hope of the world.” The tumblers were given to you by the Vestry in appreciation. We are thankful to have each of you “BE” St. Philip’s.
“May the God of peace, who brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of
the eternal covenant, make you complete in everything good so that you may do his will, working among us that which is
pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory for ever and ever."
Hebrews 13.20 - 21

17 Ways to Focus on Grace and Gratitude from May, 2015
“Presbyterian Today”
The front page in the Vestry notebook which was distributed at the retreat is “17 Ways to focus on grace and gratitude.” This is the focus of the 2016 vestry. The following are from the list:
• Express your gratitude for God’s creation by tending the earth in envi-ronmentally responsible ways. If you have a yard, plan how to strengthen its sustainability. Or consider what you might plant in pots. Or investigate public gardens where you might grow food in one of the plots.
• Identify people in congregation or community who need a break– for example, a single mother whose job and childcare responsibilities give her little free time, or someone whose days consist of caring for a par-ent who needs household help. Offer to babysit the children or spent time with the parent, to free up the caregiver.
• Lead your congregation in creating a journal of grace. Invite members to submit personal stories of how they’ve experienced and responded to God’s grace in their lives. Have a designated person compile the stories, and make the collection available to the congregation.
• As a congregation family, explore the theme of grace and gratitude with the children.

Dear St. Philips Family, One of the wonderful things about this parish is our care for one another. Please help us continue and deepen this by letting the church office know when you are ill or hospitalized. We especially want to serve you during these times. With Joy, Fr. Peter
