My dear friends,

I am happy to share with you the next step our Communications Com-mittee has taken in sharing important information about the faith and all the exciting things occurring within the Church, and our parish. In addition, I would also like to take this opportunity to remind you of some other forms of communication we have developed for the parish.

As you can see, we have given the parish bulletin a bit of a face lift and added a 'splash of color.' In addition, in the next few weeks you will see inside of the bulletin going through some changes in its formatting. I hope this will encourage all of our parishioners to continue reading this most valuable piece of communication. And, for your convenience, the bulletin is also available via our parish website.

Our Communications Committee has been quite busy. In addition to the recent changes in the bulletin, they have also been working on THE ROCK, our parish 'blog.' To put it as simply as possible – a blog is a type of website that is usually arranged in chronological order from the most recent ‘post’ (or entry) at the top of the main page to the older entries towards the bottom. For our purposes, I would simply call it an 'online newsletter' which contains arti-cles and information about the Church, our faith, our parish and its parishion-ers.

All of these forms of communication are meant to help us get informa-tion out to you as quick and easy as possible. As we continue, there will obvi-ously be a few bumps in the road, so I would ask that you be patient. If there is anything that interests you and may be help-ful, please do not hesitate to send me a short email:

God Bless,

Fr. Jason

Marriage Tip What does it mean to love our children? Of course it includes spending time listening to, looking after, feeding, washing, helping with homework, and correcting. BUT, spend more time looking for the good than reminding of the bad. This goes for spouses too. Visit: www.foryourmarriage.org YEAR OF FAITH SMALL FAITH SHARING GROUPS – Throughout the parish, we will be forming small faith sharing groups that will meet for four weeks beginning Nov. 26. Groups will meet in neighborhood homes to have conversations about Catholic beliefs and using worksheets that will be provided. The Advent series will be on the topic of “How God Speaks to Us”. In-pew registrations begin next weekend at all the Masses. This is a great way to begin Advent by deepening your understanding of the Catholic faith and praying with other members of the parish while in the comfort of your homes. Baptism Prep Classes - meets on Tuesday, October 16th, from 7 – 9 pm in the Birch Library. You need only one godparent and this person must be Catholic; to have celebrated Confirmation; is at least 16 years of age, and is practicing the faith (attending mass each week and celebrating the sacraments.)

Good dental care controls plaque, prevents cavities, gum disease, & tooth loss so seniors should continue their once/twice a year dental visits. Monitor chipped teeth or old fillings where bacteria can enter and cause cavities. Dentists can also treat the dry mouth that aging & certain medications can cause. Without saliva, the body loses another line of defense against bacteria. If the person already has dentures, the dentist can check for ill-fitting teeth and screen for oral cancer. The University of Maryland Dental School has an excellent clinic if you cannot afford dental care.( 410-706-7101) ST JOHN REGIONAL CATHOLIC SCHOOL : Walk-in Wednesdays!
