  • “For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also

overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.” 2 Cor. 9:12 School has been underway for a few weeks now, and we are thankful to have a building full once again of students and teachers learning and growing together, especially in their faith and love for Jesus! We opened our school doors with 134 students enrolled in grades Pre-K to 5th Grade. Through our reopening plan, we hope to limit the spread of Covid-19 and with God’s help, to keep our building open throughout the school year. Chapel is held each Wednesday, beginning at 8:20 a.m. We are currently having chapel outside on the basketball court each week, weather permitting. The first chapel each month is set aside to celebrate the baptism birthdays of our students and staff who were baptized in that calendar month. Baptismal Remembrance Chapel for September will be held on September 2nd. Currently, Pastor Stuckwisch and Pastor Koterba from Wymore lead one chapel each month, but we are looking forward to Pastor Bahn joining us at chapel soon! Our first-class chapel will be held on September 30th and will be led by the 2nd graders. These special class chapels give our students a chance to lead us in worship and share their faith with their families. Our character education program is continuing this year, with a focus on a chosen character word and Bible verse each month. This month, our word is Service, and the Bible verse is 2 Cor. 9:12. Throughout the month, the staff look for students exhibiting that character trait, and at the first chapel of the next month, 3 students are awarded as the Character Student of the Month. Look for the large blue St. Paul’s Yard signs, which families place in the yard to celebrate their students being the Character Student of the Month! On September 23rd, we are looking forward to our All-School Field trip to Arbor Day Farm in Nebraska City. Our trip will include a nature hike, a creek wading tour, picnic lunches, and fun exploring the tree-top village adventure area at the farm. Please pray for a great weather day for us. This outdoor, socially distanced activity will be a special school community day for everyone! We appreciate all of your prayers and support as this unprecedented new school year has begun. We move forward in Faith, knowing that God will be guiding us through these difficult circumstances! In Christ, Mrs. Duever Principal ******************************************************************************

CALLING OUR NEXT PASTOR: At the Special Voters’ Meeting on July 5th, St. Paul’s extended a call to Rev. Daryn Bahn of Christ Lutheran Church, Marshfield, WI. We received word on Thursday, August 13th that Pastor Bahn has accepted the call to be our pastor. Watch the announcements for more details on his arrival and installation as they become available.

CONGREGATIONAL LIFE: As a congregation we are gradually returning to life as normal, even as we continue with our mitigation efforts (including social distancing). We will have Sunday services in the sanctuary at 10:30am in conjunction with the Parking Lot Service. On Monday’s we will have Monday Night Divine Service in the sanctuary only at 7pm. We ask that those who attend do their best to maintain physical distance between yourself and other church members not in your household. We ask that you stay home if you are feeling at all under the weather, even with just a cold. Those who are in the high-risk categories and/or have been staying at home are asked to use their best judgement. Please visit with pastor if you have questions about returning to the Divine Service.

Our St. Paul’s students will be singing in church on the following Sundays:

At this time due to COVID-19 the students at St. Paul’s Lutheran School are not scheduled to sing in church.

When you come to service…. Hand sanitizer is available in the narthex. Upon entering church, please wait to be seated by an Elder or Usher. Our pastors are 100% available to you. They have been called to care for you regardless of the circumstances. You are not bothering them by requesting pastoral care. Just like any other time, they will be cautious based on their understanding of health risks and such, but prayer, the Sacrament, Confession & Absolution, and so on are all still available to you with the gathered saints and individually.

SCHOOL PRAYER FAMILIES: The staff of our St. Paul’s Lutheran School will continue their Prayer Family ministry this year. Each week at faculty devotions and at Chapel they will be praying for some of the school families. As Christian mentors, we want to model for our students the importance of lifting up community members in prayer. Those families will also be included in the weekly prayers each Sunday.

RESERVATIONS AT THE SCHOOL AND CHURCH: Due to the pandemic, all reservations at the school are cancelled until further notice. If you have any questions, contact Ron Fehn chairman of the Trustees. Reservations at the church will be considered on a case by case basis, between the church office and the trustees.

SUGGESTIONS, ANYONE: The Nominating Committee would like your help by offering suggestions of people (including yourself!) you think may be interested in filling open board positions for 2021. It will be an exciting year to serve as we begin congregational life with Pastor Bahn! If you have someone in mind who you think may be willing to serve as Congregational Vice Chair, an Elder, on the Board of Christian Education, Stewardship Board, or Evangelism Board, call me or put their name in my mailbox at church and we will contact them to let them know they were suggested (anonymously if you’d like!). They will have the option to say yes or no, but you will have input as to who is asked to serve the church next year. Please prayerfully consider your suggestions. Thank you. Nominating Committee Chair, Bob Frerking (402-239-5313).

ST. PAUL’S YOUTH GROUP: Junior and Senior High Youth Members: We will be meeting on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month, beginning in September. On Sunday, September 13th, we will meet in the back of the school from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Supper will be provided. Come in clothes that can get wet, as we plan to play water balloon baseball! Mrs. Gellermann-Long and Mrs. Duever will be working with the youth. Please call either of them if you have questions! Mrs. Long (425) 591-5318, Mrs. Duever (785) 614-3393.

SUMMER SERMON SERIES WAS: “Not Consecrated Stewards” but rather “Consecrated Living” - Consecrated Living is a ministry of growth and commitment in which the people of God celebrate His gifts and grow in the joy of giving and serving. We learned that stewardship is more than just money, but rather using all the gifts that God has given to each of us. On Sunday, August 23rd we celebrated Consecration Sunday. This was a day we consecrate ourselves and all that we have to the Lord, by completing our commitment cards. Last day to turn in commitment cards is Sunday, September 13th. Cards may be placed in the wooden box in the narthex or turned into the church office.

WORSHIP SERVICES: As we continue to gather together for Sunday mornings in the sanctuary and parking lot, we continue to have the opportunity to worship with others virtually. Our Sunday morning worship service continues to be aired at 8am on KWBE 1450am and on our YouTube channel. Tune into our YouTube channel. Sunday services on YouTube will be the 10:30am Sanctuary and Parking Lot Service. Click on the Watch Live tab on our website (www.stpaulbeatrice.org) or click on the link below. http://stpaulbeatrice.org/live/ .

CONFIRMATION INSTRUCTION TIME BEGINS: The young people of our congregation in the Sixth through Eighth grades are involved every year in a process to get a deeper and more mature understanding of the Christian faith into which they were baptized. At the end of the three-year process, customarily they confirm the faith the Lord already put them into by his promises. For those in 7th & 8th grade, that process will begin again on Monday, September 14 from 6:00-7:00pm in the church basement. For those in 6th grade, that process will begin again on Wednesday, September 16 from 2:45pm-3:45pm in the church basement. If you are in sixth through eighth grade, please plan now to attend. Emails have been sent to all 6th -8th graders. If you did not receive an email and have a child in 6th-8th grade this year, please contact the church office.

IT'S BBQ TIME! Get your tickets today for the St. Paul's Drive Thru -Vans BBQ Event, Sunday, September 27th! The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) is the official women’s auxiliary of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. Since 1942, the LWML has affirmed each woman’s identity as a child of God and her relationship with Jesus Christ. Lutheran Women in Mission are women of faith, empowered for active service in Jesus’ name and bold support of missions through Mite Box offerings. As Christians, our faith propels us all into God’s mission and gives us confidence that God’s amazing grace will supply our needs and move His mission forward. Mite Calendars for October are located on the table in the narthex.

The first Sunday in October is traditionally set aside for the observation of LWML Sunday, but it may be celebrated at any time. Come celebrate here at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on

    Sunday, October 4th.

The theme for LWML Sunday 2020 is based on Jesus’ words to the chief priests and Pharisees found in Matthew 21:43 that … The kingdom of God will be … given to a people producing its fruits. As people of the kingdom of God, God graciously nurtures us and

generously gives us everything we need to produce fruit for the kingdom during the fruit-bearing season of our lives. In response to God’s grace and empowered by the Holy Spirit

through Word and Sacrament, Kingdom People (in the LWML) Produce Kingdom Fruit for the season of our whole life on this earth.

“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might” (Eccl 9:10).

God bids us to be faithful in the tasks He calls us to do. He calls us to be members of a family (husbands and

wives; fathers and mothers; sons and daughters). He calls us to be members of society (those who govern and

those who are governed). And He calls us to be members of His family, the Church (those who preach and teach

and those who hear and learn). Each of these callings from God places a duty on us.

As members of a family, husbands are given the duty to die for their wives as Christ gave His life for His bride,

the Church; while wives are given the duty to respect their husbands and submit themselves to them as the

Church does to Christ. Fathers and mothers are to raise their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord,

teaching them the Ten Commandments, the Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, and the Scriptures concerning Baptism,

Confession, the Office of the Keys, and the Lord’s Supper. Children are to honor their parents throughout their

lives, and even when their parents are no longer alive, serving and obeying them, loving and cherishing them,

    and speaking well of them.

As members of society, God calls those who govern to bear the sword, that is, to punish those who do evil

(those who live contrary to God’s will) and to reward those who do good (those whose lives are lived in

conformity with God’s will). Those who are governed are to obey their leaders as to the Lord Himself, for their

leaders bear the sword of God’s temporal justice for a purpose.

As members of God’s own family, the Church, He calls those who preach and teach to do so in faithfulness to

His holy Word. To preach and teach the Law of God to convict the hearts of hearers of their sin and to

encourage, admonish, and exhort them to do good works in accordance with God’s will. They are to preach and

teach the Gospel, the full forgiveness of their sins accomplished by Christ and received through faith, not by

works. They are to administer the means of grace in accordance with the Gospel and the Word of God. They do

all this for the young and old alike, for those who are near and far off. Those who hear and learn are to submit

themselves to their preachers and teachers. They are support them by their prayers and their gifts.

Each of these callings from God place a duty on us. They make a claim on our presence; on our prayers; and our

time, talents, and treasures. So, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might” (Eccl 9:10). Pray for

your family, your government, and your church. Give of yourself by means of your time, your talents, and your

treasures to your family, your government, and your Church. That is what it means to be faithful in the tasks

that God has given us. That is what it means to do it with all your might.

St. Paul’s Scramble – Thank You

The St. Paul’s Board of Education would like to extend their thanks to all of the sponsors and golfers that

supported our school’s scholarship golf tournament. We had 12 teams golfing on a beautiful August day! The winners of the 1st flight were: Marissa Sandman, Kyle

Murray, Aaron Hart, and Tyler Wagner. The 2nd flight was won by: Cliff Kumm, Rowein Kumm, Ty Vanschoiack, and

Tadd Vanschoiack. Thanks to all of our generous donations, we were able to raise $6,605 for our school’s scholarship fund! These funds are greatly appreciated by our families who wish to provide Christian Education for

their children but are unable to afford it without assistance.

Volunteers are such an important part of St. Paul’s! It is time to start thinking about being on the ballot for 2021. Board of Christian Education

The St. Paul’s Board of Christian Education consists of 6

members, who oversee the total program of children’s

ministry for our congregation. This includes our Christian

elementary school, our childcare center, Sunday School,

and our youth group. They work closely with the

Principal and the Child Care Center director to ensure that

our daily programs continue to share the love of Jesus

each day! Annual projects include working with the

budget, editing and updating handbooks, and writing

policy. They also sponsor the St. Paul’s Scramble golf

fundraiser, an annual tournament to raise money for our

school’s scholarship fund. At the church, they find

volunteer Sunday School teachers, and assist with the

purchasing of materials for Sunday lessons. They work to

find sponsors for youth group and assist them with any

questions or concerns they have. St. Paul’s Board of

Christian Education is a big job, but the members are

blessed to use their time and talents to help the church

“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is

old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

chapel services and classroom activities. The pavilion's use will not be limited to the students and faculty of St. Paul's Lutheran School, it will serve as a venue for outdoor weddings, family gatherings, and church functions. We appreciate your

support of our school, and we look forward to serving the community with our new outdoor pavilion.
