I come that they may have life, and have it abundantly" (Jn. 10:1-7,10). A little boy went off to summer camp for the first time. His mother very carefully packed his bag containing a two-week supply of clothing and other necessaries. When he came home from camp, he was wearing three blue ribbons he had earned. His mother asked him about the ribbons and he told her that one was for "showing the most improvement in swimming." The second was for "showing excellence in handicrafts." "What about the third ribbon?" the mother asked. He said, "Oh, that's for having the neatest packed bag when we were ready to leave to come home." Knowing her little boy, the mother was astonished. She said, "Billy, I'm so proud of you!" he said, "It was easy, mum. I never unpacked it." The mother had gone to all that trouble packing the bag and the boy goes around for two weeks wearing the same grubby clothes, never unpacking the bag at all. God has packed the bag for us. He has provided for all our needs. He has provided abundant life for us. It's all there, but we never unpack the bag and we go around for weeks and months and years, some of us, in the same grubby clothes. The bag is packed. God wants you to have wholeness of life, fullness of life, abundant life. This is Gospel! John is telling us today that Christ is the Door into this abundant life with God. First Reading: Peter knows that Jesus has the power to heal us. What thanks can I give to Jesus for my healing (whether spiritual, physical or emotional)? Second Reading: John recognises that we are all God’s children. How might this awareness change the way I deal with a difficult person at home or at work or at school this week? Gospel: Jesus knows our uniqueness just like a shepherd knows his sheep. How does it change me to know that Jesus loves me the way I am, and that he can help me be the person God wants me to be? 24 HOUR

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION Friday 4 May to Saturday 5 May

Starting at 9:10am with Mass on Friday, our Lord will be exposed

for 24 hours and concluding with Mass at 9am on Saturday

Come ... spend some time with Him

"Truly, Truly, I am the Door of the Sheep ... the thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I

come that they may have life, and have it abundantly" (Jn. 10:1-7,10).

A little boy went off to summer camp for the first time. His mother very carefully packed his

bag containing a two-week supply of clothing and other necessaries. When he came home from

camp, he was wearing three blue ribbons he had earned. His mother asked him about the

ribbons and he told her that one was for "showing the most improvement in swimming." The

second was for "showing excellence in handicrafts." "What about the third ribbon?" the mother

asked. He said, "Oh, that's for having the neatest packed bag when we were ready to leave to

come home." Knowing her little boy, the mother was astonished. She said, "Billy, I'm so proud

of you!" he said, "It was easy, mum. I never unpacked it."

The mother had gone to all that trouble packing the bag and the boy goes around for two weeks

wearing the same grubby clothes, never unpacking the bag at all. God has packed the bag for

us. He has provided for all our needs. He has provided abundant life for us. It's all there, but we

never unpack the bag and we go around for weeks and months and years, some of us, in the

same grubby clothes.

The bag is packed. God wants you to have wholeness of life, fullness of life, abundant life.

This is Gospel! John is telling us today that Christ is the Door into this abundant life with God.

First Reading: Peter knows that Jesus has the power to heal us.

What thanks can I give to Jesus for my healing (whether spiritual, physical

or emotional)?

Second Reading: John recognises that we are all God’s children. How might this awareness change the way I deal with a difficult person at

home or at work or at school this week?

Gospel: Jesus knows our uniqueness just like a shepherd knows his sheep.

How does it change me to know that Jesus loves me the way I am, and that

he can help me be the person God wants me to be?
