westudyenglishlanguage.blogspot.com.es

ST. PATRICKS DAY IS CELEBRATED IN IRELAND, WHICH IS DIVIDED INTO TWO COUNTRIES :Nothern Ireland (it belongs to United Kingdom)The Republic of Ireland.

St. Patrick was born in Wales, as a child he was kidnapped and taken to Ireland by pirates, he was a slave there for 6 years.

He became a bishop and returned to Ireland to convert Irish people to Christianity, he used a SHAMROCK as a symbol to explain the concept of trinity

Patrick died on the 17 th March, and this day the whole world commemorates his life with different parades, the most important ones in:Dublin ( Republic of Ireland)New York (USA)Chicago (USA) they turn the river green!!!

In Ireland it rains from 150 to 225 days a year, so everything is green, this is why Ireland is called the EMERALD ISLE, just have a look on Google MAPS

As it rains a lot believe it or not there are more sheep than humans in the island!!!

The HARP is a typical Irish instrument as well as an Irish Symbol

Fun fact: The Irish government had to turn it over (to the left side) so as not to use the Guinness symbol which looks right

Irish Dance is known around the world

GAELIC is a very ancient celtic language spoken in Ireland, it is used as a second language in Ireland.

'I live in Ireland'="T m i mo chna i nirinn"

A leprechaun is a type of fairy in Irish folklore that usually takes the form of an old man.

Irish tradition says that if you catch a leprechaun he will grant you three wishes for releasing him. The legend also says that you can find his pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. Its there where he has hidden it
