More Than Enough

It seems to me that the parable of the loaves

and the fishes always coincides with vacation.

This particular Gospel passage I always associate

with being young and at the shore and itching to

have Mass finished so I can get back to

“vacationing”. However, these days when I allow

myself to slow down and read the Gospel and

reflect on the words, I always learn something

new. When reading today’s Gospel of the loaves

and the fishes, I heard a line that had previously

escaped me, “the Twelve approached him and

said, “Dismiss the crowd so that they can go to

the surrounding villages and farms and find

lodging and provisions; for we are in a deserted

place here.” Here they are, the Apostles,

knowing Jesus, knowing all that He is capable of

having seen the miracles with their own eyes,

telling Jesus what to do. They know, with

confidence that Jesus in God and the Lord their

Savior, yet they still think they know more than

Him and what is the best course of action for the

crowds. The Twelve think they know the answer.

Jesus responds and tells them, “Give them food

yourselves.” We all know the rest of the story.

There is not only enough to feed everyone, but

there are left overs!

How often do we try to tell God what to do?

All too often, I find myself thinking I know what

the outcome should be and that my plan of

action is the best solution and then offering

those suggestions to God in prayer. Today, we

are reminded, again, that if we allow Him, Jesus

will not only provide for us, He will provide us

with so much more than we could have ever

imagined.

“GO TITANS!”

Annual Mission Co-op Appeal

Through the weekend of July 13 and 14, Fr. Eugene

Karunaharan from the diocese of Kumbakonam, India will

be with us at all our Masses. Fr.

Eugene will be speaking about his

home diocese and how we can

partner with them in the work of the

Gospel.

Your generosity towards this special

collection on August 13-14 to

support the growth of God’s

Kingdom in India will be greatly

appreciated!

School Supplies

St. Patrick’s Parish in Norristown, our sister parish, and

St. Agnes Day Center are in need of school supplies for

their students. This represents almost 1.000 children in

grades K -8. These students are at an economic

disadvantage and are very much in need of basic school

supplies. We plan to deliver the supplies in early August

for those that return to school in mid-August.

The collection will end on the weekend of July 27-28th.

Please place your contribution (new only, please) in the

box near the door of the Church or offer a monetary

donation in the collection basket marked School Supply

Outreach. If you have any questions, please call:

Paula at 610-827-7472, Joanne at 610-574-0198,

or Tricia at 610-647-2348.

The complete list of needed supplies can be accessed at:

http://bit.ly/sisterpar1sh.

(Note that the “I” in parish is the number 1.)

The Missionary Sisters of Charity are looking for your help

with their Youth Summer Camp. You can support their

outreach by either donating boxes of Capri Sun juice boxes

in the back of Church or placing an envelope in the

collection basket labeled “Sisters of Charity Summer

Camp”. These funds will be used to buy fresh, healthy

snacks for 75 campers attending the month long camp.

Building and Appeal Update

Family of Faith Appeal:

We are excited to share that

construction of the school

the lookout for progress as you drive to Church each

week. In the upcoming months, you will be receiving

more updates on the status of the 3rd Phase of the

Appeal, as well as invitations on how to be more

involved. We remain hopeful that construction of the

Early Education Center will begin in the 2nd half of

2020.

(PREP) REGISTRATION 2019-20

PREP families are reminded to please return your re-

registration forms to be assured of a spot in the upcoming

school year. New families can access registration

information at http://bit.ly/Par3nts.

In his recently published

apostolic exhortation,

Christus Vivit, Pope Francis

directs our attention to the

youth of our Catholic Church

and gives us HOPE for the

future. But who will offer this

hope and lead our youth to

Christ and His truth and love?

Could Our Lord be asking YOU to be the one?

Do you have a generous heart? Do you love God and His

Church? Would you consider sharing your love of God

with our next generation of Catholics? Our Parish

Religious Education program (PREP) is in need of

volunteer catechists and catechist aides to teach the faith

to our young parishioners in grades 1 to 6. We also can use

help in non-classroom areas. Materials, preparation,

guidance and support are offered. PREP meets weekly

from early September to early May.

Catechists and aides are needed at the following sessions

in various grades:

Sunday Morning 9:15 to 10:20

Monday afternoon 4:45 to 6:00

Monday evening 6:30 to 7:45

We also welcome teen/high schoolers to volunteer as

aides and helpers.

Thank you for considering this rewarding ministry. Our

Lord will not be outdone in generosity, and you will be

blessed for your gift to Him! Please contact Sr. Eileen at

610-296-8899 or [email protected].
