Writing
Have you ever been in a forest like Little Red Riding Hood?
Can you describe the forest in the story?
Which words would you use:
Green, leafy, dark…?
Maybe you could draw, paint or collage a forest and write some words and sentences to describe it? What other books have a forest in them? You could have a look at pictures of forests in books or on a phone or computer.
Maths
Investigate solid/3-d shapes:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPZegz690Mg
Can you find things that are the same shapes as those in the song?
Measure – What is the heaviest thing you can pick up in your house? What about the lightest? Can you order three objects by their weight? Are big things always heavier? Do you know how to find out how much things weigh?
Number – Halves
Watch this Numbeblocks episode:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZnNfVZda6Y
Learn these sentences:
“One half of 2 is 1”
“One half of 4 is 2”
Can you show this with some objects?
Can you find any other halves?
Phonics

St. Oswald's CE Primary SchoolLearning for all, caring for each other, preparing for the future.
Understanding the World
Go on a technology hunt around the house - what needs plugging in or has batteries? What do you use it for?
Expressive Art and Design
Investigate the colour red - what red things can you find? Could you find red things to make a collage with? Maybe a picture of Red Riding Hood?
Could you use different materials to make red paint? Tomato ketchup? What happens if you add different colours to red paint?Red and blue? Red and yellow? Red and black?
Make a model out of junk! Make a model of something that interests you - maybe famous person that inspires you, or your favourite wild animal?
Fun things to do:
Make and write a card for a friend or member of your family - Think about who you want to make a card for and design the card around what they like! Think about what you want to write inside - maybe you could tell them about what you’ve been getting up to at home!
Make a natural bracelet - use masking tape or similar around your wrist (inside out) and when out on a walk attach pretty leaves, flowers and other natural objects you find.
Physical Development
Please practise your curly caterpillar letters this week. There will be videos on the blog to help you.
Can you practise these letters in 3 different ways. Maybe using chalk, in the air, using paint, or in the mud!
