Soup to Serve - Now Meeting each Friday until Easter We have started making soup every Friday for the Homeless in Berkeley. J.C. Orton, from Catholic Worker, distributes hot soup, cornbread and cookies to the homeless on Friday nights. We need help. We need volunteers to make the cornbread, we have the mix, you just add water and bake. You can pick up the mix at the office and drop the cornbread by the kitchen on Friday morning. A big thank you
to Yvonne Columbo who made the cornbread for years and has retired from this ministry. Also, homemade cookies are such a nice gift. If you’d like to bake cookies , let me know and you can drop them by the kitchen Friday morning or the office Thursday afternoon. Or, you can just come by on a Friday morning to help and see the ministry.
If you can make cornbread or cookies, please call, text or email Valerie Robertson,
E-mail Scam Please be aware of an ongoing phishing scam that involves emails purportedly from Father Paul. Father does not have a gmail.com account and would never ask you to email him so that he could ask you for a favor. It appears that the sender is phishing for valid email addresses and if you
respond, the sender will follow up with a request for some sort of monetary assistance. In at least one instance, a request was made for gift cards. It’s truly unfortunate that cyber criminals will attempt to exploit the generous nature of our community. There are common sense ways to avoid being scammed. If an e-mail contains an unusual request, contact the company (in this case, Father Paul or the parish office) directly. Do not use any phone number provided in the e-mail or click on any links in the email. In many, but not all cases, grammatical errors are present. For more information on phishing scams and email security, you can google (or search for) “Recognizing Phishing Emails.” The FBI website address to file an online Internet crime complaint is https://www.ic3.gov.
We’ve amassed quite a pile of lost items including coats, scarves, books and glasses.
Please check the table in the Larch St. Vestibule on your way out of Mass during the
weekends of January 12th & 19th. All unclaimed items will be donated thereafter.
Thank you.
