“I tell you, Peter, before the cock crows this day, you will deny three times that you know me.”

    — Luke 22:34

How many times have you heard someone make a disparaging comment about Jesus or our Catholic

faith? How did you react? Do you remain quiet not to cause a disturbance? Or, do you remain quiet because you believe people will think negatively

about you? Pray for the courage to speak up and enter into a respectful dialogue when the opportunity

    arises.

  • Are you homebound, but would like to receive the Holy Eucharist? Our parishes have several parishioners that have been commissioned and trained to bring Communion to parishioners who are unable to attend Mass, but wish to receive the Holy Eucharist. The homebound ministry is not only for the elderly. Parishioners may receive communion at home during a short-term recovery (such as from surgery, during radiation/chemotherapy, after childbirth, etc.) or on a long-term basis. Extraordinary Ministers typically visit once a week. Please con-tact Brady Williams, Sr. (979) 793-4477 if you are interested in receiving Communion in your home.

    Homebound Ministry

Just as we are one in the body of Christ, we must remember that we are one with other parishes in our archdiocese. Once a year, each of us is asked to

make a commitment to support the work of our programs and ministries that provide services that no one parish could provide on its own. Please experience the joy of giving and join us as we work to continue God’s work of spirituality, formation and education by contributing to the Diocesan Services Fund. Help us attain our goals. Our parish goals are: St. Michael’s Parish Goal is: $39,000.00

and Sts. Cyril & Methodi-us’ Parish Goal is: $9,200.00. With every parish family’s full participation, we will surely exceed this amount, advancing the work of the Church in our community. To give online, please visit

www.archgh.org/dsf. For those of you who have already responded with a gift, please accept our sincere gratitude.

April 21st Bulletin—Submitted for print on Thurs., Apr. 11th

NO FLOWERS IN CHURCH DURING LENT The flower charts for St. Michael’s & Sts. Cyril &

Methodius are located in the Parish Offices, if you would like to place flowers at either church anytime

other than Lent, please call either Parish Office.

Easter Candy Needed Sts. Cyril & Methodius will have an Easter Egg Hunt after the 8:30 a.m. Mass on Easter Sunday for ages 1 thru 6th grade. We ask that all parents of those children participating bring at least 1 dozen candy filled plastic eggs (please tape the eggs shut) to add to the hunt. Also, if you can donate candy filled Easter Eggs or money to purchase candy, please bring it by the Parish Office or give them to Linda Pavlicek. We thank you for your support of this annual event.

VBS is totally free and is geared for children 3 years old to 6th grade. It is a fun five day program where children will become excited about God and his love! This epic African adventure engages the whole herd. Kids explore God’s goodness and celebrate a ferocious faith that powers them through this wild life. Each day at ROAR VBS, kids travel through faith-building rotations that reinforce relevant Bible Points and immerse kids in new adventures. A special collection will be taken up on the weekend of May 4th & 5th to help defray the costs of this new program. (Program costs will run around $2,500.00.) Envelopes can be found in your box or packets for April 28th, but we will be taking the collection the following week. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. This is an awesome program and the children really enjoy VBS!

Registration forms are in the back of the church. For more information or to volunteer, please contact Jennifer Carlisle at 979 793-4477.

    Encounter Our Neighbors

We encounter Jesus this week in Jerusalem, a community he knew well. We prayerfully enter our own communities too, encountering those who are hungry and thirsty, and those who need

our help. How does our Lenten journey motivate us to serve those we meet in our daily lives? Visit crsricebowl.org for more. “Rice Bowls” are available in church to use.

Easter Lilies Available For St. Michael’s parishioners, if you would like to make a donation for Easter Lilies ($10 each) or a donation to the Needville Food Bank (perhaps in memory or honor of a loved one) envelopes are available in your March/April Envelope Packets. For Sts. Cyril & Methodius parishioners, envelope are availa-ble in your Offering Envelope Box. Make sure to write your intention somewhere on the envelope. The deadline for donating is Wednesday, April 17th.

    LOST

On Confirmation Sunday (March 31st) a bracelet was left on the Sacristy window sill at St. Michael’s. The bracelet was seen there but by Wednesday it had disappeared. If you have seen this bracelet or know of it’s whereabouts,

please contact the Parish Office 979-793-4477.

Can you believe it has been 6 months since the bazaar, which means it is only 6 months to the 2019 Bazaar? The date is September 15th. Mark it on your calendar. Last year we had a very successful bazaar because of all of the hard work and donations from the members of our parish. We thank you again. The first thing we must do is get the raffle prizes and print the raffle tickets. If you wish to donate a raffle prize, please see Patsy Pekar, or Richard or Charlotte Mills. I would like to sug-gest that after the $1000 first prize, we have the next prizes $500 or less (for tax reasons). We also need people to donate toward the printing of the tickets and advertising. Speaking of advertising, we need a person to be in charge. It involves put-ting the info about the bazaar in newspapers and on radio and just getting the word out. We will have a bazaar meeting in May. Last year we painted the pavilion, had someone pressure wash the area, cleaned out the storage areas, had a concrete area put in for the band, and bought new tables to replace the old heavy wood ones. This year I don’t think we will have to do as much or have as many expenses. If you have any ideas or concerns, please talk to Rich or Charlotte Mills, Bazaar Chairmen. Cellphone #’s are: Rich 337-249-9692, Charlotte 910-797-6956.
