“Spatial Temporal (ST) Math® is the leader in visual math instruction and represents the highest quality and most effective blended learning math solution in K-12 learning. The ST Math software games use interactive, graphically-rich animations that represent mathematical concepts to improve conceptual understanding and problem solving skills.” (http://www.mindresearch.org/programs/)

Signing into ST Math requires students to memorize a13 picture password. Each time a picture is placed into the sequence, new pictures are given….Yes, they can do it!

The object of every game in ST Math is to get JiJifrom one side of the screen to the other side.

In this example, JiJi startedwith 6 blue blocks. When JiJi makes it across the screen, there can only be 4 blue blocks.Along the way JiJi will lose3 blocks, then 1 block. Students will have to determine how many pink blocks to add or subtract for JiJi to be successful.

Usage Highlights

Highly Engaging – Students request to use the program during theregular school day. No requests for “free time”.

Multiple grade levels allow teachers to setup successful entry points to learning for every student.

Progress monitoring helps in identifying strengths and weaknesses.

Students using ST Math at home opens up opportunities for parentsto connect to their child’s learning.

Students helping students - across grade levels & learners

Moving forward…

Meriden Public Schools

Use current year student data to place students appropriately at their level next year at the onset of the school year.

Bridge the blended learning experience of ST Math and the classroomwith the CC Content Standards and Standards of Mathematical Practice: Perseverance, Precision, Modeling, and Tools

Reward benchmarks at different levelsfor primary and intermediate grades.
