This publication is produced by Community Newspaper Support Ltd, a not-for-profit company which already has two extremely popular and successful newspapers, The Town Crier in Shildon and The Ferryhill & Chilton Chapter, both of which have been running for over ten years. Each paper is unique to each town, providing relevent local news, events, and information to residents. The paper will be delivered fortnightly to every home in the town. A spokesperson for the Bishop Press said, "We are very excited about venturing into Bishop Auckland and hope that residents of the town will benefit from this publication as much as those in the neighbouring towns benefit from theirs. "We are aiming for this paper to become a unique part of Bishop Auckland's culture, raising community spirit and an awareness of the achievements and events that are constantly taking place in the town. "The ethos of the Community Newspaper Series is to get the public as involved as possible, whether by simply informing us of an event or having a go at writing an article themselves, and we hope people will take advantage of our publication, keeping the town informed about what is going on around them." So if you have an event coming up, from a fundraising night to a Golden Wedding, contact the Bishop Press team on 01388 775896 or email [email protected]. You can also leave correspondence in Woodhouse Close Library or the Town Hall Library in an envelope addressed to us. DELIVERERS NEEDED Contact The Bishop Press on 01388 775896 Bishop Auckland Under 9's Rugby Team took part in a festival at Durham City recently, and were drawn against Darlington Mowden Park for their first game. The team knew this would be a challenge as they had been up against Darlington in the past and had not been too successful. With the full complement of 14 players who were all up for the challenge, the team went into the game with a positive attitude, and, after some excellent tackling and good supportive play, the game ended 15 points each. The next team to play was Percy Park. The Bishop side UNDER 9'S PERFORM WELL IN DURHAM CITY RUGBY FESTIVAL showed the same determination and commitment. After the final whistle the score was 5 points each. After the completion of the pool, when all the other teams completed their games, the team was approached by the organisers of the festival and asked to flip a coin as they were joint top with Darlington. They were then drawn against Morpeth in the quarter finals and played the game with commitment and team work. The final result was 15 – 0 in favour of Morpeth.
