Prayer for Vocations

God our Father, we thank you for calling men and women to serve in your Son’s Kingdom as priests, deacons, religious, and consecrated persons. Send your Holy Spirit to help us respond generously and courageously to your call. May our community of faith support vocations of sacrificial love in our youth. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

THE CHRISTIAN SERVICE CENTER

It’s time to bid farewell to our Fir st Grader s and Miss Frucci who have brought over the food donations from church each week. They’ve had a good chance to build up their arm muscles this year and we thank them for making the trips over to CSC. They certainly bring joy and enthusiasm along with the groceries and we will miss their smiling faces. Thank you and Happy Sum-mer to our future second graders! So next, we need a volunteer to br ing the grocer ies each week from church to the CSC. If you might be able to help with this on Monday mornings during the summer, please call us and we will make arrangements.

Pantry Picks: The Center is requesting cans of green beans and corn, cans of soup, especially tomato, and cans of tomatoes and fruit. Thank you for your care of others.

MARRIAGE MOMENTS by Susan Vogt,

www.SusanVogt.net Married couples don’t often think of being widowed but no one lives forever. Lest this thought seem too morose, remember that one day one of you will be alone to help you appreciate your be-loved today. Honor or pray for a widow(er) you know today.

PARENTING POINTERS by Susan Vogt, www.SusanVogt.net

How many shoes does your child have? How many do you? How many can you wear at one time? The first week in June is Nation-al Barefoot Week. Have fun going barefoot for a day or an hour this week, but remember that some kids don’t have any shoes. Check out Soles4Souls to see how you can help. http://barefootweek.com/.

St. Vincent DePaul St. Vincent DePaul is looking for crafters to donate craft items for

the Christmas Bazaar’s St. Vincent DePaul booth.

PRAYER LINE If anyone would like to join our Prayer Chain, please

contact Jamie Peterson at [email protected]

CATHOLIC CHARITIES At Catholic Charities Diocese of Kalamazoo we are grateful to serve over 8,350 of your friends and neighbors in the nine county Dio-cese of Kalamazoo each year. We provide help

for today, create hope for tomorrow, and cultivate caring commu-nities that endure. Would you like to learn more about how we accomplish this—and how you might get involved? Please join us for a one-hour Mission Possible Tour. Visit www.ccdok.org or call 269-381-9800 .

A Family Perspective by Bud Ozar

The widow in today’s gospel was in deep trouble. Her husband and her only son were dead. In that male-dominated society wom-en owned nothing and were totally dependent on men for their livelihood. She would be reduced to begging. Restoring her son to life, Jesus also restored the woman to life.

Knitters and Crocheters Thank you to everyone who donated winter hats

and mittens during the month of May for the Giving

Tree. Now it is June and this month we will make

for children (age 4-12) mittens, or gloves for older

children. Patterns are available in the black filing box in the

religious goods room or Google free knitting/crochet patterns

from the internet. The collection box will be put out the first

weekend of May. Let’s keep our yarns unwinding!

The Kalamazoo Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (KDCCW)
