Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Today we celebrate the Baptism of the Lord which is also the end of the Christmas Season. Jesus took upon himself our human nature at Christmas in order to represent us and to act on our behalf before the heavenly Father. For this reason, He underwent baptism by water in order to sanctify the water making it a sign of purification of sin and restoration of new life in God. However, Jesus’ “real baptism” was not the baptism by water but the baptism by his own blood on the cross. At our Lord’s Baptism, God the Father revealed himself through his voice and testified that Jesus is his beloved Son who came to please Him by redeeming humanity from eternal damnation and restoring man back to the holiness which was lost through original sin: “You are my beloved Son, with you I am well pleased” (Luke 3: 22). To-day we are also reminded of our own baptism, a divine gift freely given to us by God’s infinite mercy. At bap-tism, there are a couple of things that happen: sanctification and transformation. Through baptism, one re-ceives the sanctifying grace which “wipes away” original sin, in the meantime, the likeness or holiness of God in one’s soul is also restored. As baptized people, we are chosen to know God and to love God in a very per-sonal way. It is truly a divine gift freely given to us which enables us to be intimately united with God through our prayers and worship. Unfortunately, there are some that take this precious gift for granted by turning away from God or not worshiping Him regularly. It is a blessing to know God in this life, a privilege to be baptized. It is always good to have God on the side whether in good times or in bad, in sickness or in health. Indeed, it is a necessity, a need to have God in our life especially in this finite and unpredictable world. Remember, there will be days in our lives when no human beings are able to help us to change, to heal, or to make the im-possible possible except the divine power of God alone. Fr. Joe Pham.

In an effort to improve our worship and ministries, we are conducting a brief survey to get your input on what we could do better or differently at the parish. Please help us understand how we can better serve you, your family and our neighbors.
The survey can be accessed on the parish website at www.TheInfantJesusParish.org
We realize that the needs and concerns of the faithful may be different for each age group so we encourage each member of your family to fill in a separate
survey. Paper copies of the survey are available at the rectory.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to all of our parishioners for your generous participation and contribu-tion to our Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets and Christmas gifts for our less fortunate neighbors. Due to your kindness we were able to feed 150 families for both Thanksgiving and Christmas and provide gifts for more than 250 children! Thank you for your donations of food, gifts, your time and especially your prayers. We could not have been successful without
you. Together we provide for the "least of our brothers" as asked of us by Jesus. On behalf of the St. Vincent DePaul Society we wish all of you a safe, happy, healthy and blessed New Year!!
On the weekend of January 18th & 19th we are collecting new men's socks for the home-less. As you can imagine socks become easily soiled and wet when worn continually through the winter months. A clean, dry, warm pair of socks mean the world to someone that has little or no access to clean, dry clothes. White or black socks are preferred but any new socks will do. Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.
As always we are trying to keep our pantry stocked. Food donations are welcome throughout the year as we have an average of 12 to 15 families a week visiting our pantry and asking for assistance. We can always use cereal, oatmeal, pancake mix & syrup, pasta & sauce, peanut butter & jelly, boxed mac & cheese, granola or breakfast bars, canned tuna, chicken or spam, veggies & fruit, etc. All food donations can be left in the bins in the back of the church.
