How Will Our Parish Benefit? As part of the total $350 million goal, To Teach Who Christ Is will raise a minimum of $150 million to support local needs in every parish across Chicago. When we meet our goal here at St. Jude the Apostle, we will receive $415,000 to carry out these important projects: Replacement of the Boiler System: $190,000 In line with the work which has been completed, the boiler system for the church needed replace-ment. The entire system was updated and will provide a new level of warmth to the church during the winters ahead. This capital cost was spent with the foresight of the To Teach Who Christ Is campaign funding the project. Downpayment on Overhaul of Parking Lots: $175,000 The heavily used parking lots need a planned overhaul, in stages, to completely replace the bro-ken and pot-holed asphalt in all areas of the parish campus. The entire project will include strip-ping the property of deteriorated asphalt to the gravel base, then repaving and striping the whole facility. Establishing Youth Ministry Programs: $50,000 St. Jude the Apostle Parish has been blessed with wonderful and vibrant children. We have an op-portunity and responsibility to build programs that will develop and strengthen their growing faith. Establishing a youth ministry will provide resources for programs, retreats and staff.
Campaign Update
We have raised more than $460,305 thanks to the early commitments from 73 families! Thank you for your enthusiasm, generosity, and prayers! Our To Teach Who Christ Is Team
continues to invite more and more families to participate each week. Please accept their invitation and prayerfully consider how you might help. Your gift will ensure a vibrant future for our parish,
and Catholic education across Chicago.

RED RIBBON & BULLY PREVENTION WEEK
During the week of Monday, November 2 through Thurs-day, November 5 our students recognized Anti-Bullying and Drug Prevention Week with theme filled days. Mon-day’s featured message was “Walk Away From Drugs/Walk Away From Bullying Others.” Students placed Red Ribbons on classroom doors and pledged to be drug free by writing drug prevention/anti-bullying messages with sidewalk chalk around the sidewalks of our building. Tuesday was “Be Smart…..Be Yourself Nerd Day.” Stu-dents were to dress like a “nerd.” Wednesday’s theme “Sock It To Drugs & Bullying” allowed the students to wear crazy socks with school uniforms. On Thursday “Watch Out For Drugs” the students wore a watch with their school uniforms. These simple catch phrases were a clever way to drive home the importance of being drug free and to understand that bullying will not be tolerated.

Mass of Remembrance 2015 This weekend we celebrate the Mass of Remembrance. We remember all our brothers and sis-ters who died this past year. Our first reading for the Feast of All Souls is from The Book of Wisdom 3:1-9. It begins by saying, “The souls of the just are in the hand of God,…” First, we notice that the reading is in the present tense. Anyone who is just and righteous, having a good
relationship with God, trusting in God and acting according to God’s will, is in the hand of God. In this sense, the unrighteous, the wicked and sinners are not in the hand of God. “The souls of the just are in the hand of God,..” God holds, caresses, and carries the just through life. “…and no torment shall touch them.” Thus, they are at peace.
Peace here does not mean the absence of trials and tribulations. It does not mean the just one will not encounter regular life challenges. He/she will. In fact the just one will even have enemies along the way. For the wicked says “Let us beset the just one, because he is obnoxious to us; he sets himself against our do-ing, reproaches us for transgressions of the law and charges us with violations of our training” (Wis. 2: 12). The wicked will even think the death of the just one is utter destruction. “They seemed, in the view of the foolish, to be dead; and their passing away was thought an affliction and their going forth from us, utter de-struction. But they are at peace.”
They are at peace in this world. They are at peace in the midst of trials and tribulations. They are at peace through the gates of death. They are at peace in heaven with God because they continue to be in the hand of God.
The challenge for each of us, then, as we make our way through life is to be just: have a good rela-tionship with God, trust God, and act according to the will of God. When we do this, we shall be in the hand of God, and no torment shall touch us. We may be chastised a little, yet we shall be greatly blessed. For our hope will be full of immortality.
May the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.
Blessings, Fr. Ignatius
