ST JOSEPH'S INSTITUTION JUNIOR A Lasallian School of Brothers Ref: SJIJ/2017 /10/471 28 September 2017 Dear Parents I Guardians, Integration of Technology in Teaching and learning in P4 from 2018 As a part of our effort to improve the learning experience for our boys, we will be introducing a Bring-Your-Own-Device approach from 2018 tom! our Primary 4 classes. The improvement effort in the teaching and learning process began 3 years ago with the introduction of the E3 (Engage, Empower, Enable) programme where our teachers built up the resources and experience to deliver lessons in a more engaging manner with technology. The review of the learning outcomes of the graduating students of the first batch of E3 students gives us the confidence that putting technology in the hands of the learners does engender better learning behaviours. Boys were observed to be more interested and independent in their learning, and they were asking higher order questions which led to better learning outcomes. Having personal devices will also greatly support our effort to capitalize on the benefits of the Student Learning Space developed by MOE. We also believe that introducing technology in a structured environment to our boys at this formative age is critical in shaping productive habits with regards to how they regulate their use technology. Over the 3 years, our teachers have also developed management strategies to help boys regulate their technology use. These habits would be critical to them when they enter the world of work which would require them to have the tools for 2Pt Century skills such as critical thinking, communication and collaboration. Encouraged by the transformation observed in our E3 students, all Primary 4 students in 2018 will be part of the E3 learning experience - using technology as an integral part of their daily school learning. From 2018, all Primary 4 students will need to have an iOS 1 based device for daily school lessons, and we would like to invite you to attend a briefing session to find out more about how technology is used in learning. The details of the briefing session are: Date: 13 Oct 2017, Friday, Time: 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm Venue: School Hall The school will also be assisting parents by opening invitations to vendors to provide the best package possible, and parents who would like to purchase a device through the school, are requested to indicate through the attached form as well. As parents, we understand that you may have concerns about how to monitor your child's technology use. To support you throughout this journey, we have also scheduled Parent-support workshops to address your different concerns, and we look forward to sharing more with you on 13 Oct 2017. Dear Parents I Guardians,

Integration of Technology in Teaching and learning in P4 from 2018

As a part of our effort to improve the learning experience for our boys, we will be introducing a Bring-Your-Own-Device approach from 2018 tom! our Primary 4 classes.

From 2018, all Primary 4 students will need to have an iOS1 based device for daily school lessons, and we would like to invite you to attend a briefing session to find out more about how technology is used in learning. The details of the briefing session are:

Date: 13 Oct 2017, Friday, Time: 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm Venue: School Hall

The school will also be assisting parents by opening invitations to vendors to provide the best package possible, and parents who would like to purchase a device through the school, are requested to indicate through the attached form as well. As parents, we understand that you may have concerns about how to monitor your child's technology use.
