Pope Francis: Our witness opens

the way for others. Our prayer opens the door to the Father's heart. Let us ask the Lord that we might live our work with witness and prayer, so that the Father might draw peo-ple to Jesus.

A message from Miss Dewhurst: Today is the day as a country we celebrate Victory in Europe Day: 8th May,

1945 being the day people agreed to stop fighting and war came to an end. It probably holds even more of a poign-

ant message to us all as the world continues to fight its own battle against this terrible pandemic. As George VI, the

King of England and our current Queen’s father, said: “Let us remember those who will not come back, their con-

stancy and courage in battle, their sacrifice and endurance in the face of a merciless enemy.” We ourselves, sadly

may know people or families who are affected by this awful virus and I know how grateful we all are to all the Key

Workers all over the country. We continue to pray and hope that our families and friends stay safe. I would person-

ally like to say a big thank you to all our children. Our own little heroes. Their whole lives have been turned upside

down and they are currently living in a world that is worlds apart from what they have known. We could all learn

from their resilience and strength and they continue to amaze me every day!

Consent Form: We have changed our school con-

sent form. This has now been sent electronically to you as a Parentmail form. Many thanks to those of you who have already com-pleted it. If you haven’t already re-sponded, we would be grateful if you would fill it in by 10am on Monday (May 11th).

Class R/1:

In English Yr R have been completing activities linked to the topic “Big Bad Bug” and Yr 1 “The Highway Rat”. In RE we have been thinking about “Holy days and Holi-days” and seeing how many the children could think of and how we celebrate them. In art they produced beau-tiful pictures of where they would like to be in the world. They also completed a music activity based on “Peter & the Wolf” by Prokofiev. Mrs Park & Mrs Knott

Class 2/3

This week in Yr 2 the children have followed an English unit on “Recipes” which included making a very yummy tortilla pizza and writing their own recipes. In Yr 3 the children have been reading “Flat Stanley”.' In Maths Yr 2 have been recapping the properties of 2 and 2-D shapes and Yr 3 have been adding and subtracting mon-ey. Mrs Wilson

Class 4/

Where should I start? What a huge victory we had over Class 6 in our TTRockstars tournament! We more than doubled their total! And despite this massive win, we still found time to do daily maths lessons, focusing on multiplication and division, and daily English lessons, focusing on punctuation. I am really proud of the quali-ty and quantity of work everyone is doing! Mr Astle

Class 6:

This week the children have been set a range of different activities - English work linked to robots and calculating scale factors in maths. My class must be working so hard that they forgot to share what they have done!! In the TTRockstars competition with Cl 4/5, what can I say, we were completely and utterly beaten! Well done Cl 4/5 you deserved your win, but I would like to say “thank you” to those children from my class who did take part. Mrs Rob-erts

Collective worship: It has been lovely to see

some of you using the prayer cards that Mrs Park

talked about in last week’s newsletter in your own

collective worship at home. If you would like to use

the prayer cards they are available by visiting

http://www.liverpoolcatholic.org.uk/ and clicking

on “Prayer and Other Resources”.

Class videos: Check out the Home Learning pages on our school website for two amazing video mon-

tages. Yr 1 surprised staff by posting their own video message on SeeSaw and Class 4/5 have also com-piled their own “toilet roll challenge”. Mrs Knott, Mrs Park and Mr Astle have now uploaded the videos to their Home Learning areas of the school website so why not have a look? We are sure you will enjoy them too!

Pictures of Pets @ Home: We have had some fantastic photographs sent in of you at home with your pets,

some of our staff have joined in too. Here is a selection of the pictures you have uploaded to Seesaw. Some of you shared some lovely memories of your pets and others have told us how you help look after other people’s animals.

This week’s message from St Joseph’s Children’s Liturgy team

Hello again everyone. It is the Bank Holiday today – we hope you have all got your bunting up? This week is 5th Sunday of Easter.

Have you ever set out on a journey to visit somewhere you have never been without any maps or instructions? If

you have you would have probably got lost. Today Jesus tells his disciples that they already know the way to the

place he is going even though they have never been there before. We see how confused they are but Jesus explains

all they need to know.

Gospel: John 14: 1-6

Where did Jesus tell his disciples he was going? How do you think this news made them feel? How would you feel if

someone you loved very much told you that they would soon be leaving you? How do we know the way to the king-

dom of heaven?

Cut out the puzzle and mix the pieces up

then see if you can put them back together

again.

Find ways this week to show all the ways

you need to be to get to Heaven

Bye for now – will be in contact again next

week.

Take care

St Joseph’s Children’s Liturgy
