DID YOU KNOW? August is National Make a WillMonth! Have you been put off creating or updating your will? Is life too busy and this important planning tool keeps getting put on the back-burner? Now is the time to make sure that your final wishes are followed after you leave this earthly life. A will is a legal document which captures what you want to happen to your assets when you die. Having a will in place prevents the state from determining for you how and to whom your assets are distributed. A will can be simple and may not require a lot of time or money to establish. The Catholic Foundation’s Professional Advisors Group has many attorneys from across the Diocese of Columbus who can serve as a great resource for determining what you need to create a will. The Catholic Foundation also has tools available to help you get started with creating your will and forming your estate plans. Stop procrastinating and use this month as an opportunity to start your will or review an existing version if it’s more than 5 years old. Your family and loved ones will thank you for taking the guess work out of how you would like your financial matters handled. QUESTIONS? We can help! Contact a member of our development team today for more information, 614-443-8893 or visit www.catholic-foundation.org.
SUBSCRIBE TO CATHOLIC TIMES ECONNECT: The Catholic Times, the Diocese of Columbus’ newspaper, is introducing eConnect, a new email news service. EConnect will be emailed to subscribers bi-weekly on Wednesdays with current news and with any breaking news to keep you up-to-date about events and activities throughout our Diocese. To sign up for your free subscription to eConnect, visit columbuscatholic.org/econnect.
TWENTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME AUGUST 16, 2020
THE ROLE OF PARISH PRAYER PARTNERS: While “prayer partner” is not found in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults as a particular ministry, it is an additional way for the parish community to be engaged in the RCIA and support our catechumens preparing for Baptism and our baptized candidates seeking full Communion with the Catholic Church. Prayer partners are asked to accompany an individual catechumen or candidate on his/her faith journey through prayer. Prayer partners will also be encouraged to send their assigned catechumen or candidate an occasional note of support. They will also be invited to the liturgical rites that will be celebrated with their catechumen or candidate as part of the process of initiation into the Catholic Church. Please contact Deb Milstead at 740-248-7610, if you are interested in serving as a prayer partner.
JOIN THE JOURNEY: Please consider walking alongside our RCIA candidates and catechumens as they journey into the Church! The RCIA team is seeking parishioners who are willing to serve as sponsors to those who will begin preparing this fall to be received into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil, 2021. Sponsorship involves attending RCIA sessions at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evenings, supporting and encouraging candidates and catechumens by your presence on this sometimes difficult journey, and, above all, praying for them as they grow in their knowledge of the Faith. If you are interested in the possibility of being an RCIA sponsor, please contact Michelle Estel at 740-474-4006.
