Regardless of whether one has been a good steward of gifts in the past,
it is never too late to begin sharing with a generous heart. Decide how
you will use your blessings of time, talent , and treasure in service to
God, the source of all blessings. Begin small if necessary, but begin!
The First Sunday of Lent
Gn 9:8-15; Ps 25:4-5, 6-7, 8-9; 1 Pt 3:18-22; Mk 1:12-15
[Jesus] was among wild beasts, and the angels ministered to
Him. Mark 1:13
Anywhere our faith in God is challenged will be like a desert. On
the one hand, “wild beasts” may threaten our physical safety. On
the other hand, “angels” minister to us. I ask myself: Am I more
afraid of the wild beasts or appreciative of the presence of angels?
Lent is an annual opportunity to renew our trust in God’s
presence, despite the threats of earthly forces.
Jesus faced challenges head on, not just in the desert, but
throughout His whole life and ministry, all the way to the cross.
Sometimes He had to hide from the crowds when some wanted to
stone Him or others wanted to crown Him king for all the wrong
reasons. Even when He was rejected as a foolish failure, He relied
on the love of His Father.
Almighty God, may our Lenten observance strengthen our faith in
Your loving presence amid the challenges of our lives.

Steven Adams, organist for St. Joseph Church, will be giving an organ concert at
St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral on Feb. 25th at 3pm.
He will be joined by fellow artists and will include a variety of music from traditional organ
works to hymn arrangements.
This concert is free to the public.
Louis Ballard, a member of the Parish Council, invites you to remain after Mass for a few minutes to share his experience of visiting Haiti this year.
As the Haitian’s say, “What the eyes cannot see, the heart cannot understand.”
Please come see Louis Ballard's presentation after each Mass on March 3rd & 4th.
Don’t miss this unique window into what Haiti is really like — and the impact our “twinning” has had on both parishes!

Marriage Moment
Ways to Turn Your Spouse Off #10– Let your body language show disdain or contempt. Rolling your eyes, a scowl, ignoring a request
by walking away can speak louder than a yell. Check out any belittling mannerisms you may have that hurts your spouse.
Parenting Pointer
February is Black History month but sensitivity to people of a race different from your own is bigger than just one color. Enrich your
child’s life by mixing with people of different races. If your children are old enough try this erasing racism activity. (http://susanvogt.net/
