It is with heartfelt gratitude that I say Thank You for all the love and support you gave me at the passing of my lovely wife Vickie. She was a wonderful lady who always believed the St Jerome family was made up of some of the finest of God’s creations. I believe that too! You are Awesome people. I especially want to thank the Men’s Club for being honorary pallbearers and for set-ting up the hall and serving the outstanding bereavement meal prepared by Ronnie Kiolbassa. Also, I express my sincere grati-tude to Cathy Schick of the Altar Society for obtaining all the delicious desserts. And lastly, I want to thank Fr Kris for coming to our home and praying over Vickie just hours before her death. It meant a lot to me. Vickie may be gone, but I intend to continue my devotion and support to my second home at St Jerome. Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that you help us put an end to this terrible Covid epidemic so that we may gather once again as a family and celebrate the grace you have bestowed upon us. Amen. May God Bless You All, Your Little Baptist Buddy, R D

St. Jerome Catholic Church San Antonio, Texas
The one symbol most often identified with Jesus and his Church is the cross.
The Exaltation of the Holy Cross is celebrated on September 14th. This feast dates back to Jerusalem and the dedication of the church built on the site of
Mount Calvary in 335.
We must never forget that the cross is a sign of suffering—a sign of human cruelty at its worst. A cruelty that never seems to cease. But by Christ’s love shown in the Paschal Mystery, it has become the sign of triumph and victory, the sign of God, who is love itself. So when we look at the cross, we remember the suffering of those around us and around the world. The cross does not explain pain and misery. It does not give us any easy answers, but it does help us to see our lives united with Christ’s.
We often make the Sign of the Cross over ourselves. because it helps to focus and fix our minds and hearts on God. We make it after prayer, so that we can also remember to stay close to God. The cross is a sign of strength and protection especially in time of trial and temptation. It is the sign of the fullness of life that is the precious gift God has granted to us.
When we were baptized, the Sign of the Cross is used. The priest, parents, and godparents make the sign on the forehead of the child. A sign made on the forehead is a sign of belonging. By the Sign of the Cross in Baptism, Jesus takes us as his own in a unique way.
Let us look to the cross often and remember that when we make the Sign of the Cross, we are bringing our whole selves to God—our minds, souls, bodies, wills, thoughts, hearts—everything we are and will become.
"We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee, because by Thy Holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world." (St. Francis of Assisi)
Exaltation of the Holy Cross Welcome Back!
