We extend a sincere WELCOME BACK to all of our returning friends and add a special WELCOME to all of the new members of our St. Gregory the Great Academy community. The Back to School Night schedule is as follows. Each session is 15 minutes and allows your child’s teachers an opportunity to present an overview of the subject curriculum and expectations. Parents, please be aware you will have one session free during the course of the night. We ask that during this time, you please wait quietly in the hall until the next session starts. The teachers look forward to meeting you and starting off the year on a positive note. Thank you.

ROOM PARENTS NEEDED
SCHOOL YEAR 2019-2020 Dear Parents:
Hello and welcome back to school! If you are interested in becoming a Room Parent this school year,
there will be an informational meeting to review the “Room Parent Responsibilities” on Wednesday,
September 11,2019 at 6:00 pm in the Library.
Some Room Parent responsibilities include: assisting in holiday party planning, chaperoning field trips,
helping the PTA at various times during the year, and participating at the School Picnic and Field Day.
Throughout the year there will be lots of interaction with the children and the teachers.
All selected Room Parents will need to have a working e-mail address for the 2019-2020 school year and
the ability to access it regularly. Communication via e-mail to and between Room Parents is most
efficient.
One of the requirements of being a Room Parent is you must complete a Virtus Training Session.
If you have not received this training, you will not be given consideration until this session is completed
under the guidelines set forth from Bishop David O’Connell. If you have any questions regarding the
Virtus Training, you can contact the Rectory at 587-1131 ext. 270.
If you would like to be a Room Parent, please fill out the bottom portion and return to me,
Susan Marrone c/o Ellie Grade 7 by Friday, September 6, 2019. In addition to sending the bottom
portion, please also notify me via e-mail to confirm that your request has been sent.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at [email protected]. Thank you!

Dear Parents:
Thank you to the parents who have offered to be a piece of the puzzle in the
library that will help our students to fit themselves with a good book. We are
working on a schedule and I will contact you next week concerning your time
frame. Our volunteers will begin the week of September 23. The next two weeks I
will be reviewing library rules, manners, library skills and places in the library of
importance.
Students are allowed to take out one book each week. They make their own
choice of what book they may want. Sometimes students select books that they
cannot read. They are either attracted to the cover or someone else has the same
book. We try to discourage them, but in some cases they just want that book. I
want you to know we do encourage the students to areas of the library where
they will find a book suited for them. If a child cannot read the selected book, try
to interpret the illustrations, words may come later.
Our time frame is usually 35-40 mimnuter.During that time I teach some library
skill, students select books to take out and if time I read a story. It is my hope that
the students’ library time will be pleasant, safe, peaceful, relaxing and enjoyable.
We are lucky to have such a library.
We still need help. If you can, please contact Mrs. Adams. I hope you and your
child have a pleasant school year. Know you are in our prayers.
Blessings, Sister Barbara Furst Library Teacher
Dear Friends and Families,
Our school collects Box Tops! We would love your support in collecting them too. Box Tops are located on many items. All you have to do is cut them out and send them to school with your child.
Box Tops help our school by raising money! Every Box Top you send to school is worth 10 cents. This might not sound like much, but they add up quickly. These funds help our school with new resources! In turn, it’s helping your child grow in his or her educational experience.
Our school also gives rewards to studentsand classrooms tomake Box Top collecting afriendly competition.
Thank you for your valued support!

BINGO WORKERS NEEDED!
Help is needed – please consider joining a Bingo Team!
Bingo is held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in the
St. Gregory the Great Parish Center
All proceeds from the Tuesday and Thursday Bingo go directly to the Academy. It is important that we have plenty of workers to help us staff this fund raiser.
We are in desperate need of Bingo Workers who can commit to working every month or every other month.
Interested in helping?? There are THREE ways to join:
Option 1 - A monthly commitment on either Tuesday or Thursday Evening - you would
be assigned a team, etc 1st Tuesday – 2nd Tuesday etc. same for Thursday. (4 points per night) - Bingo hours are 5:30 pm until 10:15 pm
Option 2 - A Bingo Buddy - You would only be required to work every other month.
You would share the yearly responsibility with your Bingo Buddy. You still receive 4 points per night,
but, it is a 6 month not a 12 month commitment, but is a yearlong commitment.
Option 3 – Single Bingo Buddy – You would be required to work every other month. You would commit to either working every even month of the year or every odd month
of the year. You would not be able to switch. You still receive 4 points per night,
but, it is a 6 month not a 12 month commitment, but is a yearlong commitment.
Please keep in mind, Bingo is a 12 month commitment (either by yourself or with your buddy) – if you miss 3 or more Bingos in a year, you will no longer be considered a bingo worker. Working Bingo is NOT a “drop-in” volunteer service – no one is
allowed to show up at any Bingo because they need a few extra points – you must be assigned to a team.
If you cannot work your scheduled Bingo night, it is important that you contact your MIC to let him/her know why you cannot attend.
Please contact Mrs. Patty Pierson to sign up to work Bingo at
