3 years old Giong, still could not speak, did not smile…

One day, Giong heard the king’s messenger outside the house

Giong asked the messenger to provide three things for him :An armor, helmet, iron horse

Giong ate very much every day and grew big and strong

Giong worn the armor and the helmet, took the iron whip and jumped on the iron horse’s
back and set off to fight the invaders

Brandishing his whip, Giong rode into the crowd of solders

His whip broke, but he then tone out a branch of bamboo and kept on
striking the enemy solders

The battle ended, Giong stood on the top of Soc Son Mountain

He looked at his native land for the last time, then rode up to the heaven. Afterwards, the king built a temple for
the hero of Vietnam.

Still now, on 7th January in Soc Son, Hanoi, The St Giong festival is held every year to commemorate the spilt and power of the
Vietnamese people and Giong’s victory over the invaders
