Reconciliation by appointment during the pandemic
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Today we celebrate the feast day of the most Holy Trinity, God is one yet three a Trinity of a pure love. It is a celebration of God self-revelation to us through the mystery of the incarna-tion. The Father is God, the Son is God and the Holy Spirit is God; three distinctly but different persons, yet only One true God.
Can three really equal ONE? How can we possibly solve this confounding equation? Frequently we attempt to solve this mystery in mathematical terms; in reality algebra does not have a for-mula with which to resort to for a solution. It may appear to be a play on words, yet it is a dog-matic tenant of the Faith. Is it merely a puzzle by which to question our comfortable assump-tions?
Jesus teaches that his mission is grounded in the total love of the father for all creation. We need to remember these teachings of Christians and share them with one another. Time flies and we are now in ordinary time. So much has happened and we still need to do more to re-store love and peace in our hearts, families, community and our country. We can only thrive when we pray for peace and justice. These are the very words that Christ taught to his disci-ples.
It has been so great seeing people coming back to our church. It is going to take a while before things settle and everyone gets comfortable in return. I felt like a Shephard without his sheep in one fold. My joy and excitement is increasing day by day as I see people taking precaution and helping ensure our liturgies go smoothly. I do look forward to every Sunday with the joy that the number is increasing.
May God bless each and every one of you, stay safe and healthy.
I remain your brother in Christ! Fr. Crispine Adongo

SAINT BERNADETTE SOUBIROUS (1844-1879) April 16 With Immaculate Mary’s “Ave Maria” for its re-frain, Andy Williams’ “Village of Saint Bernadette” peaked at #7 on Billboard’s Top 40 at Christmas 1959, airing on radio stations all over America. Imagine! April 16 marks the feast of Bernardette Soubirous, the teenager who, combing a refuse heap for firewood, saw a “beautiful lady” who identified herself in words Bernadette faithfully reported to the bishop, though she did not under-stand their meaning: “I am the Immaculate Con-ception.” Relentlessly interrogated, she never wa-vered in her story or sweetness. Chronically ill all her life and dead at thirty-five, Bernadette left behind the shrine at Lourdes where healing wa-ters still flow from the spring that her “beautiful lady” pointed out to her. —Peter Scagnelli, Copyright © J. 5/22/2020 Saint Francis of Assisi Parish Statement Addressing COVID 19 Safety Procedures Saint Francis of Assisi Parish will be welcoming her parishioners back for weekend mass celebrations beginning Saturday,May 23, 2020. The Parish COVID 19 Reopening Team has been working very hard to put a plan in place that will provide as much protection as possible to everyone. Creating a plan for large numbers of people at three locations is not an easy task, and there are many challenges. Saint Francis of Assisi understands that the safety procedures necessary to reopen our churches may cause some people to feel their ability to worship as they see fit is compromised. We are absolutely not trying to control any aspect of your relationship with God. Saint Francis of Assisi is trying to put a plan in place to accommodate everyone. We are asking all pa-rishioners to please wear a mask. Especially inside the church, and in the presence of Father Crispine. We must face the reality. If Father Crispine becomes ill or worse, Saint Francis of Assisi will struggle to reopen the churches to celebrate Mass. Due to the lack of young priests, we do not have options avail-able for a backup priest. Most retired priests are over 65, and will not be celebrating public Mass. We are asking anyone that does not want to wear a mask, to please join us for mass in the lower level of Saint Nicholas or the parish centers at Mary Help of Christians and Saint Joseph. We realize this is not the same experience as celebrating Mass in the church, but we are trying to provide as much protec-tion as possible to everyone. If you feel it is necessary to be in the church, we will seat you in the back to reduce possible exposure to and by your fellow parishioners. If you will not be wearing a mask, we ask that you please bring your own hand sanitizer to use prior to receiving Communion in order to allow the Eucharistic Ministers to feel comfortable. The process of entering and being seated in the churches has been modified to allow social distancing. Parishioners are asked to social distance either outside the church doors, or in waiting areas. Ushers will be on hand to provide masks if needed, hand sanitizer, and escort you to your seats. Please expect the church to look different, as we have taped off areas to make social distancing easier. Once the church is full under social distancing guidelines, parishioners will be invited to join us in the lower level of Saint Nick and the parish centers at Mary Help of Christians and Saint Joseph. We are inviting pa-rishioners who do not want to wear a mask to join us in these areas for Mass. For people who choose to wear a mask, it will be a personal decision whether to attend Mass in these locations. Please be as understanding as possible as we navigate through reopening the churches. There is no perfect plan, and we are learning as we go. It is wonderful that we are moving forward with public Mass celebrations. Please pray that we will all exercise patience and kindness as we move forward, and that we will soon be able to worship together. Saint Francis would like to thank all the Ushers who are step-ping up on short notice. They will have a huge job working with these new procedures, especially the first weekend. We will most likely have some confusion and frustrations. But, we have wonderful people at Saint Francis of Assisi, and we will make it through. Thank you also to the volunteers that are part of the teams preparing and disinfecting the churches and other meeting locations after every Mass. This is a huge task, and your willingness to give of yourself is greatly appreciated. As we continue with the reopening process, we will need many volunteers to help usher and disinfect. If you are interested, please either call the office or let one of the ushers know at Mass you are willing to help. The current situation is one we never would have expected. By implementing these procedures, we will be able to come together and receive the Body of Christ. If we are kind to one another as Jesus taught us to be, we will be stronger as a Parish on the other side of this pandemic. If you have questions or concerns, please call the office. You will be directed to someone who can help provide an answer. God Bless! The Parish COVID 19 Reopening Team
