PARISH DATABASE Please Update Our Parish Database We are continually updating our parish database. If you recently moved, changed your phone number or email address, please contact Laura at the front office at 770-382-4549 or [email protected]. DID YOU KNOW… The importance of using your envelopes to tithe? If you are asked to be a Godparent, a Sponsor for Baptism or Confirmation, one of the requirements is to obtain a letter from your parish that states you are in good standing and attend Mass regularly. The best way to do this is by using your contribution envelope. Each family has a family number, which is the number that is used to identify each family, and is printed on the outside of your envelopes. If you use regular envelopes, please legibly write your family number on the outside of the envelope. ONGOING BIBLE STUDY Here is a new way of doing things ! Bible study is now available throughout the year in my home. Father Juan Anzora has given his permission for this to take place and he has left the choices of study up to you - the parishioners. The sessions are in English only. The main starting point will be focused on "How to Read the Bible" as it is presented in our Catholic Catechism and in the Bible's introductory section, but you will choose whether you want the Old Testament or the New Testament for continuing study for as long as you wish. I will set up the times to suit your availability and convenience. You can come in the mornings from 10:00am until noon, or from 1:00pm until 3:00pm, or in the early evenings from 6:30pm until 8:30pm. You can choose either Monday, Thursday, or on Sunday only in the evenings. There is no cost to you and the only requirement is that you bring your own copy of a good Catholic Bible - like the New American Bible. I will welcome more than one person at a time if families wish to come together (my home can accommodate up to six people - just let me know ahead of time). I do prefer that no children under the age of fourteen be included as anyone younger gets bored easily and can disrupt the sessions. Also, the words used can be difficult for young children. My home is so very close to the church at #13 Attaway Drive - near the Ingles grocery store. Full directions will be forthcoming to anyone who wishes to participate. I look forward to your positive response by email but must insist that you not use the telephone as I am hard of hearing. Oh yes, and there is a cat who comes in and out of the house just in case you are allergic. Thank you for your attention and do remember that I am praying for all of you and ask you to pray for me as well. -Martha Wilbert [email protected]

Outreach Ministry Ubicaritas est vera, est vera: Deus ibi est, Deus ibi est. Translation: Where there is true charity, God is present. Do you remember participating in the Latin Mass? Do you miss it sometimes? For some reason, this hymn came to me this week. This was one of my favorite hymns. If Dian played it, I wager most of us would sing along without having forgotten any of the words. The first two verses were originally a hymn written for Holy Thursday and the music was written by Bob Herd, a well known liturgical musician. He also added verses three and four sometime in the 1950s. This hymn speaks so eloquently of our communal love for Christ. When we gather together to celebrate the Eucharist, we are one voice speaking of our love of Christ and we renew our vow to love and care for all of humankind. This hymn also reminds us of our promise to "Let all divisions cease." We are urged to do this by sharing the bread of life and welcoming Christ into our lives. We promise also to guard the oppressed and fight for justice for all that need us. Our Outreach volunteers have been taking food and personal necessities to those of our neighbors who live out of doors. They have also visited the women's shelter and the children's shelter. Then they stopped by the children's lunch program and left food and other necessities. Every month, one of our volunteers makes the trip to Hickory Log in Rydal. This is a group home for developmentally delayed men. (They love every kind of cereal.) We have some families that still need help with the purchase of school supplies. The Lackeys, one of our parish families, donated enough squash and zucchini to fill a pickup truck on two separate occasions. It was the best gift our recipients could possibly hope to receive. Please God, bless that family in great abundance. Every person who received these vegetables wanted to give our truck drivers another recipe. Fresh fruits and vegetables are rare treats for our needy families. Just keeping up with the absolute essentials is difficult. The Kenyan community has a Mass once a month on Sunday afternoons. They routinely fill our van with more groceries than we can handle. Our parish is exceptional in generosity and kindness. If you wish to help with this program, here are some suggestions: Please arrange to contribute to the Outreach fund. You can stop by your bank or do it on your computer. It takes very little time to arrange and it makes a huge difference in the lives of our brothers and sisters. Make your pledge every week or every month. Make it five dollars or fifty dollars. We are frugal shoppers and we pray daily for our parishioners who support those in need. We need diapers, all sizes. Instant coffee toothbrushes Toothpaste deodorant men's socks women's socks hand warmers Tide Pods Cereal soap shampoo canned pasta sauce any size or type of pasta peanut butter any crackers cookies any packaged snacks Anything you see on sale that is edible or useful. This is "sharing the bread of life" at it's finest. You are wonderful!
