Most Holy Trinity May 27th, 2018
From the Desk of Father David
Dear Friends in Christ,
As we read in Genesis chapter 1 verse 27,
“God created man in His image; in the Divine image
He created him; male and female He created them.”
Have you ever pondered what it means to be created
in the image of God? It has so many meanings. To
be in the image of God reminds us that we are called
to create, to love, heal, be reconcilers, and the list
goes on. This Sunday as we focus on the Holy
Trinity, we recall that God is a community, three
persons but one God. Their bond is pure love. In
the Scriptures we see them all working together to
bring about our salvation. Since we are in the image
of God, today we recognize our need for community
that loves and accepts us. We do so many things
because we want to belong. I hope that when you
come to Church you realize that you belong here. It
is not like all the other places you go. Church is
your home. The place where your Father invites
you to the greatest meal, the Eucharist. You will be
nourished by Jesus’ word, body and blood which is
made possible by the Holy Spirit. I pray that you
realize you are a vital member of God’s family.
May we recognize the great gift of belonging and
help those we meet to recognize the family they are
looking for is here at Fourteen Holy Helpers. Not
perfect, but loving and welcoming.
Holy Trinity help us to reflect Your image
into the world by accepting Divine love and sharing
it with all those we meet. May those who feel they
don’t belong in this world, know that they are not a
mistake but have a home in the Church.
In Christ’s love, Fr. David

Catholic Trivia
This week’s question: What does “Ordinary
Time” refer to?
Be sure to come back next week for the
answer!
Last week’s question: What is the Feast of Corpus
Christi and when do we celebrate it?
Answer: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood
of Christ, historically known by its Latin name, Corpus
Christi, celebrates the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in
the Holy Eucharist—Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. It
was traditionally celebrated on the Thursday following the
Solemnity of the Holy Trinity, however, in modern times
the Feast has been moved to the Sunday after Trinity
Sunday. This year Corpus Christi falls on Sunday June 3.

Prayer for Our Newly Ordained Priests
O Jesus, our great High Priest, hear our humble prayers
on behalf of your priests, Fathers Peter Nsa Bassey,
Paul Stanislaw Cygan, Peter Santandreu and Gerard
Skrzynski. Give them a deep faith, a bright and firm
hope, and a burning love which will ever increase in
the course of their priestly lives.
In their loneliness, comfort them; in their sorrows,
strengthen them; in their frustrations, point out to
them that it is through suffering that the soul is purified.
Show them that they are needed by the Church, they
are needed by souls, they are needed for the work of
redemption.
O loving Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Priests, take
to your heart your sons who are close to you because
of their priestly ordinations, and because of the power
which they have received to carry on the work of
Christ in a world which needs them so much. Be their
comfort, be their joy, be their strength, and especially
help them to live and to defend the ideals of
consecrated celibacy.
Amen.
Please pray for our newly ordained priests.
Bishop Richard J. Malone will have the honor of ordaining four
men to the priesthood on Saturday, June 2nd, 2018. The
special Mass will begin at 9:30 a.m. at
St. Joseph Cathedral.
The new priests, who were ordained
deacons in September, are:
Rev. Mr. Peter Nsa Bassey
Rev. Mr. Paul Stanislaw Cygan
Rev. Mr. Peter Santandreu
Rev. Mr. Gerard Skrzynski
Join us on
Monday, June 4th
at 3pm or 7pm in Msgr.
Ebner Hall.
You’re invited to a free screening of the movie
“All or Nothing-Sister Clare Crockett”.
A film about the life of Sister Clare Crockett who died in
an earthquake in Ecuador. Come and be inspired by her
amazing story. Sister Clare was an aspiring young
actress from Ireland who desired to become rich and
famous. She had an instantaneous conversion one Good
Friday when she venerated the Cross. She eventually
gave up everything to answer the call to religious life. It is
a story of the mercy of God, of a radical conversion and
total surrender. Call Karen Bishop at 674-2070 for more
information.
Father’s Day is coming soon...
Celebrate Father’s Day with a Novena to
show your loved ones you are
remembering them! Our Father's Day
Novena of Masses will begin Sat., June
17th. The Novena Cards and Envelopes
are available at all doors of the Church. Please take a
larger envelope if you will be honoring a loved one and
you wish to give them a card. The smaller envelopes are
to remember our loved ones that have passed but are not
forgotten. All envelopes returned will be place on the
altar throughout our Father’s Day Novena.
Cooking Tip: When Barbecuing you
can simply use cooking oil instead of
lighter fluid. Crumble some paper
sprinkle with cooking oil (not olive oil)
then place the charcoals on top of
the paper and light. By the time the
oil burns off, the coals will have
ignited.
