Fifth Annual Chili Cook-off- Sat. January 10, 2015 –
5:00 - 8:00 p.m. St. Ann’s cafeteria
Come join in our Fifth Chili Cook-off! We had a ball in 2013 with 20 differ-ent cooks bringing their delicious chili dishes to share and compete. Eve-ryone is invited, but we’re hoping for 25 cooks this year! All you need to do is sign up and bring your chili in a crockpot with a ladle for tasting. The tasters will sample all the chili and then vote for their favorite. Bread and soda will be provided to complete the meal. You can bring your own beer or wine.
The cost is $7 per person with a maximum of $25 per family (for the chili cooks the cost is $5 per person with a max of $20 per family). Extra vot-ing tickets will be sold for $2 each or 3 for $5 so you can stuff the voting box of your favorite. All profit will benefit the St. Ann’s and St. Charles’ Food Pantries.
Once again we are asking parishioners to put their
used Christmas cards in a box in the back of the church. The cards are recycled to use for next years Giving Tree ornaments. It is very helpful if you tear off the backs of the cards and recycle at home, for the person that is cutting out the fronts for ornaments. Many thanks for donating them to this worthy endeavor.

There is a special joy that you feel when you sing Christmas carols. You don’t have
to be the best singer, or even stay in tune – it’s just warms your heart. On Satur-
day evening, December 20th, 27 of our YIM members gathered after the 4:00
Mass at St. Charles. We started our caroling by singing out front as people were
exiting. From there, we sang at St. Camillus, Bellevue Home and then Francis
House. At each stop, we got a little more in tune, a little more in spirit and we
sounded pretty darn good. Our audiences were so appreciative and even joined in
with us. We met the oldest Irish woman living 112 years old!!! She was so beautiful
and loved the singing! Francis House is just the most beautiful place, so full of the
spirit of love and so incredibly peaceful. We sang for the families gathered there
around their loved ones. It’s a difficult time for those families and we hold them
all in our prayers. After singing the teens were starving and they were treated to
rotini and meatballs! We watched the movie “Elf” in the Media Room and just
ended our evening with fun! Thank you to all our YIM members, their families and
all those adults who have chaperoned for us all year. None of this would be possi-
ble without those adults who give of their time to drive and just be with our teens.
Happy New Year to everyone at St. Charles-St. Ann from our Youth in Ministry. We
pray that God blesses you and your families with health and happiness for the New
Year!

RESPECT LIFE
God of this New Year, we are walking into mystery. We face the fu-
ture, not knowing what the days and months will bring to us or how we
will respond. Be love in us as we journey. May we welcome all who
come our way. Deepen our faith to see all of life through your eyes.
Fill us with hope and an abiding trust that youdwell in us amidst all our
joys and sorrows. Thank you for the treasure of our faith life. Thank
you for the gift of being able to rise each day with the assurance of
your walking through the day with us. God of this New Year, we praise
you.
