Wedding Banns I Dan Grillo & Lori Ann Keisic
We are so privileged as Catholics to be a part of the one Church spread across the earth. It is always a great consolation to me to be able to travel to other lands and always find Jesus alive in the Holy Mass. He is with his people in the greatest of poverties and in the heights
of power. God has no favorites. I am mindful especially of the return of freedom and the Mass to the people of Mosul, Iraq after the nightmare of ISIS for the past two years. Countless martyrs were put to death however in often grue-some ways. Could we have done more? Difficult ques-tions. One of the marks of healing has been the ringing of the bells from the city of Bartella in Iraq. For the past two years they did not ring, due to ISIS terrorists who overtook this area and forced all Christians to flee. The military offensive to take Mosul and the surrounding area back began more than a week ago. A push by the Iraqi army, Kurdish forces and Shiite militias has led to a retrieval of some 30 villages around Mosul. They have freed them from the clutches of ISIS, who devastated and desecrated their churches. An-cient, ancient Christians. Pope Francis has been holding these exhausted populations in prayer. At the Angelus this past week he recalled the sufferings Iraqis, especially Christians and other minorities, targeted in the crosshairs of ISIS. It is reported that “the Christian refugees who fled to northern Iraq celebrated the news of the liberation of Mosul, and other important Chris-tian strongholds like Qaraqosh or Alqosh, dancing and sing-ing. Between June and August 2014, these people had to flee Mosul and the plain of Nineveh with the arrival of ISIS. In one night alone, more than 150,000 people fled the sec-ond largest city in Iraq. However, terrorists do not want to abandon the country without offering as much resistance as possible. Thus, the UN warns of gory practices by these extremists”. (Rome Reports) The spokesperson of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights at the United Nations stated, "We are gravely concerned by reports that ISIL is using the civilians in and around Mosul as human shields as the Iraqi forces advance. They are keeping civilians close to their offices or places where fighters are located, which may result in civil-ian casualties.” It is estimated that up to one million people could leave the city in the following days due to the weak-ening of ISIS authority, which would cause a new humani-tarian disaster in Iraq. Pray for the persons of Iraq and Syr-ia. They are like us in our desire to love, laugh, hope, mourn, create families, raise their children and live a normal human life. ISIS has robbed them of the gift of peaceful human existence. Fr. Mark Vander Steeg

The Director’s Cut Film Presentation of …
THE ORIGINAL IMAGE OF DIVINE MERCY
An Extraordinary Film for an Extraordinary Year!
With a presentation by director Daniel diSilva…
who will bring to life a whole new perspective on, not only the film, but on the masterpiece at hand. Having shot the film across six countries, diSilva has accumulat-ed more information about St. Faustina’s work of art that any film could hold. He has collected the most fascinat-ing details about why the Original Image of Divine Mer-cy took the arduous journey that it did, some of which have been “top secret” until now! There is so much to tell about the painting that has captivated the world and why the real story behind the Original Image has re-mained relatively unknown until the making of this film.
The Original Image of Divine Mercy features exclusive interviews with first-hand eye-witnesses, as well as Bish-op Robert Barron of Los Angeles (Word on Fire); Fr.
Michael Gaitley, MIC: George Weigel biographer of Pope Saint John Paul II and author of Witness to Hope; author Fr. Leo Maasburg, spiritual director and confessor to Blessed Mother Teresa; and many others.
The film also features conversations about the im-portance of Art in culture with American comedian Jim Gaffigan (The Jim Gaffigan Show), and multiple Gram-my and Emmy Award-winning musician Harry Con-nick, Jr. (American Idol), and Fr. Karl Wallner from the Cistercian Abbey in Stift Heiligenkreuz, Austria, home to the Billboard chart-topping Chant CDs . Light refreshments to be served with the presentation
