April 26, 2020 - Third Sunday of Easter

The Memorare.

Remember O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided.

Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee O Virgin of virgins my mother. To thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful.

O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

A Time of Peace…Ecclesiastes 3:11

National Day of Prayer History National Day of Prayer is an annual holiday that serves to encourage Americans to pray, meditate and repent. It is also used to draw awareness to prayer and religious beliefs.

The origins of National Day of Prayer date back to 1787, when Benjamin Franklin asked President George Washington to open each day with prayer, and to realize that prayer is deeply intertwined in the fabric of the United States. However, it was not until February 1952 during the Korean War that Reverend Billy Graham petitioned support of Representative Percy Priest to observe a national day of prayer.

On April 17, 1952 President Harry Truman signed a bill proclaiming National Day of Prayer, to encourage Americans to turn to God in prayer and meditation. National Prayer Day is celebrated every year on the first Thursday of May.

St. Therese Vocation Society Prayer

God our Father, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I ask You to bless and strengthen the spiritual renewal and vitality of all priests and consecrated

religious so that Your Church may shine with greater splendor and bear witness to Your presence in our world today.

In particular, inspire many men and women to respond to Your Son’s call to “Come, follow Me” as members of those communities which are living the religious life according to the mind of the Church.

Please inspire many men and women to respond to Your Son's

call to “Come, follow Me.” I ask this in Jesus' Name. Amen.

St. Michael the Archangel defend us in battle; be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do you, O prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

Pro-Life: We cannot diminish the value of one category of human life, the

unborn, without diminishing the value of all human life.”

Ronald Reagan, 40th President of the United States

How to make an Act of Perfect Contrition

Through an act of Perfect Contrition, you receive pardon for your sins outside of confession, even mortal sins, on condition that you determine to amend your life and make a firm resolution to go to sacramental confession as soon as this becomes possible for you.

Perfect Contrition is a grace from God, so sincerely ask for this gift throughout the day prior to making your act of contrition: “My God, grant me perfect contrition for all my sins”.

1. In reality or imagination kneel at the foot of a crucifix and say to yourself: “Jesus, my God and my Saviour, in the midst of your agony, you remembered me, you suffered for me, you wished to wipe away my sins”.

2. Contrition is ‘perfect’ if you repent of your sins because you love God and are sorry for offending Him and causing the sufferings of Christ on the cross. Before the Crucified Christ remember your sins, repent of them because they have brought our Lord to His sufferings on the Cross. Promise him, that with His help, you will not sin again.

3. Recite, slowly and sincerely, an act of contrition focused on the goodness of God and your love of Jesus: “O my God, because you are so good, I am very sorry that I have sinned against you and by the help of your grace I will not sin again. Amen”.

4. Make a firm resolution to go to sacramental confession as soon as practically possible.

How to make a Spiritual Communion

The key to Spiritual Communion is to grow in your heart a constant desire for the Blessed Sacrament. 1. If you are aware of serious or mortal sin, make an Act of Perfect

Contrition. 2. Imagine the sacred words and actions of the Mass or watch online or

on TV. 3. Make all those acts of faith, humility, sorrow, adoration, love and

desire that you usually express before Holy Communion. 4. Desire, with earnest longing, to receive our Lord present — Body,

Blood, Soul and Divinity — in the Blessed Sacrament. 5. Say this prayer of St. Alphonsus de' Ligouri: “My Jesus, I believe that

You are present in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You are already there, I embrace You and unite myself wholly to You; do not let me ever be separated from You. Amen.

6. After moments of silent adoration make all those acts of faith, humility, love, thanksgiving and offering that you usually express through prayers after Holy Communion.

Eucharistic Adoration: Understood simply, Eucharistic Adoration is adoring or honouring the Eucharistic Presence of Christ. In a deeper sense, it involves "the contemplation of the Mystery of Christ truly present before us".

During Eucharistic Adoration, we "watch and wait", we remain "silent" in His Presence and open ourselves to His Graces which flow from the Eucharist ... By worshiping the Eucharistic Jesus, we become what God wants us to be! Like a magnet, The Lord draws us to Himself and gently transforms us. — Apostolic Vicariate of Kuwait

Prayer for All Humanity Bless us all, 0 Lord, we pray, for loved ones, here and near, and far away. And everyone for whom we pray. Keep us safe each night and day, the homeless who have no place to stay. Those who are suffering in any way. The dying, those mourning or grieving and all who need God's mercy. Keep us safe, Heavenly Father, when we are at home, or travelling on our way, or when we are vulnerable, or in danger in any way. Most merciful Father, hear us as we pray for the souls in Purgatory, or who may be sent there some day.

The Magnificat The Prayer Of Mary

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Sav-ior for he has looked with favor on his low-ly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name.

He has mercy on those who fear him in every generation.

He has shown the strength of his arm, he has scattered the proud in their conceit.

He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty.

He has come to the help of his servant Israel for he remembered his promise of mercy, the promise he made to our fathers, to Abraham and his children forever. Amen. (Lk 1: 46-55)
