RESPECT LIFE CORNER Human Trafficking – No place is exempt from human trafficking today. It is nothing short of modern slavery, exploiting people for profit through sex and labor. Small towns, rural areas and large cities alike are targeted by traffickers. Learn, Act, Connect, Pray: Human trafficking ranks with gun and drug trafficking as the top crimes globally. It is so insidious because it is kept hidden through intimidation and control. Pray that human trafficking will be brought out into the open and the victims get the help they need to gain control of their lives.

“I was blessed to attend strong catholic parishes and entered the

Academy of Fine Arts to study painting, which was a dream come

true. Still nothing in my life satisfied me completely. I wanted to grow

closer to God and I felt the call to give my all to Christ. However, I

was terrified with the idea of leaving my family and my dreams,

painting, dancing and children. Then a moment came in prayer when

deep in my heart I simply said to God, “OK, I will do it”. Suddenly, a

peace entered my life like I never experience before. I never knew

such peace existed. I completed my school studies

and soon went to the convent with my suitcase.”

The Second Luminous Mystery

THE WEDDING OF CANA

1. Jesus, His Mother and disciples were invited to a wedding in Cana.

2. During the wedding feast the wine ran short.

3. Mary turned to Jesus: "They have no wine."

4. Jesus replied: "What would you have me do? My hour has not yet

come."

5. Mary said to the waiters: "Do whatever he tells you."

6. There were six stone water jars, each holding fifteen to twenty

gallons.

7. Jesus bids the waiters to fill the jars with water, and then draw

some out and take it to the chief steward.

8. The chief steward said to the groom: "Every man serves the good

wine first... but you have saved the good wine until now."

9. At Mary's request, Jesus worked His first miracle.

10. Christian marriage has been raised to the dignity of a Sacrament.

Spiritual Fruit: Let us pray for all of our Dads – living & deceased.

May they know the importance of their role in their children’s life and

all of society. Pray for the farmers for a successful planting & wheat

harvest season.

! GOLD RUSH DRAWING ! The Ss. Peter and Paul Parish Gold Rush fundraiser is going well; we have sold 200+ tickets already. This is one of the largest fundraisers for the parish and school, and its success depends on you. All net profits are divided evenly between the parish general fund and parish grade school. Tickets are $100 each or you can get a group together to buy one or more tickets. You will have 9 chances to win $1,000 or more starting at the SS Peter & Paul Parish Picnic on Saturday, June 9, where we will pull 2 - $1,000 winners at 10:00pm. If your tickets is drawn for any of the Early Bird prizes, it then goes back in the drawings so you have more chances to win $1,000 or more. The next Early Bird winners are July 15, August 15, and September 15. Grand Prize drawings are pulled on Saturday, October 7, at the Holy Name Trivia Night. We lowered the total number of tickets to sell to 625. And this year we are adding a bonus draw IF we sell 550 tickets before Trivia Night. That makes 10 chances to win $1,000 or more! You can get them at the parish office or by contacting Staci Wittenauer ([email protected] or 618.791.7131). Thank you for your continued support. Good luck!

Presents

“How God is Present Even in the Midst of Unimaginable Tragedy”

Presenter: Sarah Hartrum - Decareaux

Tuesday, June 26 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Adult Faith Formation House

220 Mill Street (next door to the parish rectory)

Join us as Waterloo resident Sarah Hartrum-Decareaux shares her story of discovering God in the midst of unimaginable pain. Five years ago, Sarah’s husband and her 8 and 10-year-old sons died on a

hiking trip when the weather took an unexpected turn for the worse. She wrote her story in the book titled

From Here to Heaven: Our Family's Story of Tragedy, Triumph, and the Best Yet to Come. Sarah

has spoken to a variety of groups and community organizations over the past few years, who have

drawn inspiration from her faith story and learned to discover God in the midst of their own pain. She will have books available for those who are interested

and she will be happy to sign the books.
