Second Collection: Seminarian Fund Appeal Support Those “Answering God’s Call”
By the grace of God, the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana currently has twenty seminarians. This certainly shows that God continues to call young men to the priesthood from our parishes. Please help support our seminarians by supporting their calling. Next weekend our parish will take a collection for the training of these men to be our future priests in the Diocese of
Lafayette-in-Indiana. Will you help support our seminarians? Please look at today’s bulletin insert, and use the envelope provided for your gift. St. Augustine’s goal for the campaign is $4,266.00. Please be generous!
Congratulations to all of our Graduates! At the Graduation Mass on May 22nd, several graduates were honored for their service to our parish and community:
Nichole Stath & Keegan Stevens were the recipients of the Herman Nagel Server Award. The Herman Nagel Server Award program was created in honor of long time St. Augustine parishioner, Herman Nagel. Herman was a dedicated server from early childhood through his senior
years. This program was created to honor and reward our high school senior servers that have continued to serve Mass throughout their high school career. The group wanted to recognize these individuals for their service to God, the church, and to the parishioners. Each recipient will receive a monetary reward.
Michael Effinger & Nichole Stath were the recipients of the Knights of Columbus Council 1881 Scholarship.
Garrett Eldridge was the recipient of the Five Star Merit Award. The Five Star Merit Award was established in 2002 by members of the St. Augustine Class of 1979. An award given to a fifth grade student at St. Augustine School, who excels in five areas: Academics, Leadership, Christianity, Sportsmanship, and Loyalty. The student received a plaque in fifth grade and upon graduating from high school the student receives a monetary award from a scholarship fund made possible through charitable contributions.
St. Augustine’s graduating peer ministers, Nichole Stath, Kaitlin Nagel, Jillian Lucero, Sam Ahler, and Keegan Stevens were honored and recognized for their dedication and service to St. Augustine’s youth.

St. Augustine School Enrollment St. Augustine School is currently enrolling for the 2016-2017
school year. We have openings in all grades. There is one class per grade in Kindergarten through five and class sizes are limited.
We offer three choices for preschool classes: two day morning preschool for ages 3-4, three day morning preschool for ages 4-5,
and a five day afternoon Jr. Kindergarten for ages 4-5. Please contact Principal Anne Dumas at the school at 866-5480 or
[email protected] for more information.
SASBUCK$ News: Big news! SAS Buck$ gift cards with a 10% rebate will soon be available for both Ayda’s and Royal Oak Family Restaurant! How can you get your hands on those and other SAS Buck$ gift cards once school is out for the summer? If you usually buy the cards that are on-hand in the school office, you’ll now want
to visit the Rectory, which through the summer will be open Tuesday through Friday, from 8:00am to 3:00pm. If you usually
order your cards after church or online, know that those orders will be processed on a bi-weekly basis (the next order is June 5). A
new SAS Buck$ cycle will begin July 3rd, so the final order for this school year will be made June 19th. Questions? Call the school
(866-5480) or church office (866-5351).

A Note from the Parish Nurse: June is National Safety Month
Injuries are a leading cause of disability for people of all ages — and they are the leading cause of death for Americans ages 1 to 44. The good news is everyone can get involved to help prevent injuries.
During National Safety Month, St. Augustine is working with community members to help reduce the risk of injuries. This June, we encourage you to learn more about important safety issues like prescription painkiller abuse, transportation safety, and slips, trips, and falls.
Prescription painkiller abuse: Prescription painkiller overdoses
are a growing problem in the United States, especially among women. About 18 women die every day from a prescription painkiller overdose — more than 4 times as many as back in 1999.
Transportation safety: Doing other activities while driving —
like texting or eating — distracts you and increases your chance of crashing. Almost 1 in 5 crashes (17%) that injured someone involved distracted driving.
Slips, trips, and falls: One in 3 older adults falls each year.
Many falls lead to broken bones and other health problems. You can make a difference. Find out ways to help reduce the risk of these safety issues.
Safety proofing your home pamphlets are available at
each entrance and the church office. Please feel free to grab one.
For more information, contact Jocelyn Ventrello, Parish Nurse.
Wedding Banns
Please pray for Laura Benner & Nicholas Reed, who will marry on June
11th. Due to the floor renovation at St. A, they are to be married at St. Lawrence
Catholic Church in Lafayette, IN.
American Flag Ceremony The Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus will be
conducting an American Flag Ceremony in June of this year. From now until the date of the ceremony, the K of
C will be collecting flags that are worn and torn, no longer serviceable. In a week or two, we will be placing a container in the
vestibule of our church where your flags can be deposited. All clean American flags being donated should be properly folded
before placing them in the K of C container. We appreciate your help in making our planned event successful. If you have any
questions, please call Bob Evans at 765-426-7600. Thank you.
Floor and Pew Restoration Project Update: The floor and pew project is
underway! The church and school hallway tiles have been removed. The new tile is being cut and will
begin being installed. The pews are being stripped, stained and
varnished off-site. Pictured is the progress on the school hallways
after the tile was removed. More pictures can be found on the
church website– www.saugustine.org.
Thank you to all of the volunteers that have helped move the heavy items from the old tile floor. Many
hands have made this project progress on time and smoothly!
Congratulations! Best wishes and prayers to Clayton & Trisha Nagel!
They were joined together in holy matrimony at Saint
Augustine on April 23rd. May God bless your marriage!
