Online and Television Mass for Sunday, August 2 and beyond https://www.dioceseoflansing.org/masses-and-online-spiritual-resources

EWTN has daily and weekend Mass on television—check your cable/satellite listings. Television/online liturgies do not fulfill your Sunday’s obligation to gather with our people. We encourage your in person

participation as soon as you are able even though Bishop Boyea has dispensed the obligation of Sunday Mass for all Catholics in the Diocese of Lansing through September 6. We miss you as much as you miss the Eucharist!

Please note that while the ministry scheduler app has names listed for all roles we will not need Eucharistic Ministers at this time. If you or anyone in your home is ill, please do not attend, even to fulfill your assignment

The deadline for our parish census is August 15. Please get your forms in. You can even call the office to confirm that your information is correct. I don’t know if the leaves are falling off the tree in my backyard because of the fire or because the electricity killed the tree.

They finished shoring up the church floor. So we’re back in church for daily mass. We still need a new ceiling and electrical work to be done. The contractors I’ve called don’t seem to be in any hurry for new, smaller jobs.

Please pray for our teens as they celebrate Confirmation this weekend.

Eighteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time, Cycle A

Matthew 14:13-21

Jesus feeds the crowd with five loaves and two fish.

Today we jump ahead in our reading of Matthew's Gospel to Chapter 14. Last week we heard Jesus conclude his discourse with the crowds about the Kingdom of Heaven. In Matthew's narrative, Jesus then leaves the crowds and returns to Nazareth, where he is rejected. Matthew then recounts the

story of John the Baptist's arrest and execution at the hands of Herod. Today's Gospel reading

begins at this point.

ST. VINCENT de PAUL CONFERENCE In the Gospel , Jesus says: "There is no need for them to go away; give them some food yourselves," and taking the five loaves and two fish, he blessed them and gave them to the disciples to feed the crowd. Know that your gift

to our St. Augustine St. Vincent de Paul, to help those living in poverty, touches many lives just like the loaves and fishes. Our next meeting is Thursday Aug 20 at 7 PM.

To our St. Augustine Family/Parishioners: During this Covid 19 Pandemic your St. Vincent de Paul is here to assist you! If you have loss of income or any other need we are here to help you. All calls/information from you will be kept confidential. Call Deacon Bill/Pat Sirl (810 750-2669) for our SVDP care, support and love.

St. Augustine Martha Ministry

We are a group of volunteers who want to celebrate family!

When we find out that a family is expanding, we go into

action! Whether they are giving birth to a first child, a 5th, or adopting, we coordinate a week’s worth of meals to allow the family to focus on the new addition.

If you would like more information about us or want to help please email:

[email protected]

If you know of a family who is expecting please let us

know and we will get in touch with them!

Family Faith Formation Sharing the Gospel Imagine being one of Jesus' disciples. One moment you see more than 5,000 hungry people. You don't know what to do. The next moment you see Jesus turn a small lunch into a huge feast. Jesus gives you the food, and he asks you to share it with the hungry people. Jesus asks the same thing today. Share what he gives you with others, too. Prayer Jesus, help me to share what you have given me. Something to Draw Draw a picture of yourself handing out food to hungry people.
