STRATEGIC ADVISORY BOARD

The Strategic Advisory Board (SAB) of Memon Professional Forum was formed on

22nd November, 2000. The purpose of forming of this Board was to get benefit from

the experience of the Past Presidents of the Forum who fulfils an advisory role for

the Managing Committee.

SAB is a constitutional body which consists of not more than twelve immediate Past

Presidents of the Forum. Members of the Board appoint Chairman and Honorary

Secretary of the Board amongst themselves except incumbent MPF President and

Honorary Secretary General. SAB may also co-opt three eminent professionals who

at the time of co-option should be the member of the Forum.

FROM THE DESK OF THE PRESIDENT

Dear Fellow Members,

Assalam-u-Alaikum.

Let me begin with the name of Allah while thanking Him for His abundance bounties

and blessings that He bestowed upon me throughout my life and special thanks for

giving me the capabilities and strength to serve Memon Professional Forum as its

President for the term 2015-16. I believe that to become a head of any such forum or

organization is not a privilege but a great responsibility, as the moment you’re

elected, all the eyes start to watch on you and you are meant to give the best out of

you. I also believe that the time and energy, mental and physical both that one gives

to someone out of his life are the most expensive and irreplaceable things, and I am

glad that by the blessings of Allah, during my tenure, I have tried to give my best to

the Forum. I pray that May Allah accept all my endeavours and give me more

strength and courage to serve our Forum with zeal and zest.

I am thankful to all my Office Bearers and the members of Managing Committee for

reposing their confidence in me while electing me as the President of the Forum.

I am sure that our most of the members are aware that in order to run the MPF

secretarial smoothly, we need at least Rs. 1.8 to 2.0 million per year and to generate

this fund, the only thing besides membership fees is the income from the Diary

publication and this is the major task that needs to be accomplished in such a way

that we could ensure a saving of at least Rs.2.0 million for the same. Here I would

like to thank our dynamic Convener of Diary Committee, Mr. Abdul Jabbar Rathod,

Co-convener Mr. Muhammad Shoaib Ibrahim and his entire team who broke all the

previous records and collected Rs.2.735m worth of Advertisements for the Diary and

generated the highest surplus for the Forum. This year, along with Diary, this

committee also published Perpetual Islamic Calendars, which was greatly liked by

our members. I on behalf of my entire MC thank them again for their tremendous

efforts they rendered in accomplishing this uphill task. I would also like to thank all

our sponsors and advertisers who supported us whole-heartedly and provided us

with their various advertisements for our Diary’2016.For the Membership

Development Committee, we had Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed Madraswala as its Convener.

I am glad to inform you that this year we have brought 35 new members to MPF fold,

for which I am highly grateful to Mushtaq Bhai and all the MC members for their kind

efforts.

This year, our MC decided to update the MPF Directory, which was updated and

published back in 2008 and for accomplishing this difficult job, our newly elected MC

member, Mr. Fahim Sulaiman offered himself to be the Convener of this Committee

and Alhamdulillah within the first 3-4 months, he along with his team successfully

completed the job. I personally thank Fahim Bhai and his entire team for their tireless

efforts they put in to achieve this target.

Alhamdulillah, after a lapse of almost 7 years, our Social Committee under the able

convener-ship of Mr. Abdul Jabbar Rathod organized a mega “Family Picnic & Get

Together” on May 1, 2016 at Shamsi Farm House, which was attended by more than

600 persons including members, their families and relatives. It was a fun-filled full

day event, and one of the most organized picnics ever where Alhamdulillah we did

not receive any single complaint about the arrangements. I give full credit to our

Convener, Abdul Jabbar Bhai and his entire team for their untiring efforts in

organizing one of the best picnics ever.

On July 31, 2016, our Social Committee under the Convener-ship of Abdul Jabbar

Rathod also organized “MPF Eid Milan & Networking Brunch” for the members and

their families, including their children at Defence Authority Sunset Club, DHA,

Karachi, which was attended by our 11 worthy past presidents and more than 80

other members and their families. I take the opportunity to thank all our past

presidents who attended this Eid Milan & Networking Brunch and made this event a

success. I personally thank the Convener Social Committee, Abdul Jabbar Bhai and

his entire team for arranging this successful program. I especially thank Dr.

Mohammad Khalid Bhambha for his kind efforts in arranging the beautiful DA Sunset

Club hall free of cost.

This year, besides the MPF Picnic and MPF Eid Milan Networking Brunch, we

organized 9 programs, detailed reports of which are appended in the subsequent

part of this Annual Report.

As far as the financial position of MPF is concerned, you will find in the financial

statements of the Forum that this year we have invested another amount of

Rs.2.567m while making the total of Rs.3.978m, which was made possible only from

the proceeds of our last year’s Conference and this year’s Diary surplus.

During this year, we also received an amount of Rs.111,530/- as refund against

Education loan account, for which I am personally thankful to our Past President,

Engr. Mohammad Siddiq Essa who followed up on the recovery of previous loan

from one of our candidates and collected his all dues.

I would like to thank our Chairman SAB, Prof. Dr. Iqbal Ahmed Memon and all the

members of SAB namely Prof. Dr. Abdul Ghaffar Billo, Mr. Abdul Wahid Tejani, Mr.

Abdul Qadir Memon, Mr. Muhammad Ashraf Bawany, Engr. M. Saleem

Rangoonwala, Mr. Mohammad Zubair, Engr. Mohammad. Siddiq Essa, Mr.

Mohammad. Hanif Jakhura, Engr. Parvez Abubaker, Mr. Asif Ismail Mangroria, Mr.

M. Haroon Qassim, Mr. M. Rafiq Rangoonwala, Mr. Mehmood Parekh and Mr. Abdul

Aziz Tayabani for their guidance and support throughout the tenure.

My sincere thanks to all the Conveners and Co-conveners of our Sub-committees

who did their best and organized various seminars, like Ms. Sharmeen Majeed and

Sadia Iqbal for “Dars & Mehfil-e-Naat” and seminar on “Soft Skills Revamping Lives”;

Dr. Abdul Rasheed E. Vayani and Dr. Mohammad Khalid Bhambha for seminar on

“Obesity - Causes, Effects, Control and Treatment” and “Kidney Stone – Causes,

Management and Treatment”; Mr. Saleem Altaf and Khalid Latif for seminar on

“Banking Laws” and seminar on “Shariah Compliant Investment - Learn to Grow

Your Wealth Through Islamic Investment”; Engr. Abdul Rahim Abdul Karim and

Engr. M. Saleem Rangoonwala for an interactive seminar on “Performance

Measurement of a Supply Chain and What Can Six Sigma do For You?”.

This year, Engr. M. Saleem Rangoonwala, Dr. Mohammad Khalid Bhambha and Dr.

Saira Bano initiated a unique project and offered their professional services for the

revamping and redesigning of Canteen, Washrooms and Classrooms of JMA Public

School, which is run under the Chairmanship of Mr. Muhammad Ashraf Bawany. I

thank them for their sincere efforts.

My sincere thanks are also due to our Past Presidents Mr. Abdul Wahid Tejani, Mr.

Abdul Qadir Memon, Mr. Muhammad Hanif Janoo, Mr. Muhammad Zubair and Mr.

Pervez Abubaker who not only helped us in organizing various programs but also

supported me and guided me with their valuable suggestions through out our tenure.

My sincere thanks to Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed Madraswala for his valuable support and

FROM THE DESK OF HONORARY SECRETARY GENERAL

I feel immense pleasure to present 31st Annual Report for the Term 2015-16 and

Audited Accounts for the year ended June 30, 2016 of Memon Professional Forum. It

seems like yesterday to me, when I was honored to serve as Honorary Secretary

General of this Forum and it remained a great pleasure and honor for me to lead the

Forum. I am thankful to Almighty Allah who granted me and my team enough

strength and guidance for a whole year, not only to maintain the standard of this

wonderful Forum, but to serve the community in a meaningful way.

This year, Mr. Abdul Hameed Kath while taking a charge from President Mr. Abdul

Aziz Tayabani, was highly motivated considering the kind of benchmark set by Mr.

Abdul Aziz Tayabani’s leadership.

President Mr. Abdul Hameed Kath who had also served MPF as Honorary Secretary

General in past took the reins with very clear objectives in his mind, one of which

was to carry whole team along with him and engage all Past Presidents in MPF

activities. Each member of the Managing Committee was eager to perform this year

and the whole Committee teamed up to highlight the Forum among the

Professionals. I feel proud to be a part of such committee and enjoyed the company

of cooperative Office Bearers. The committee is becoming stronger with the

prominent role of Strategic Advisory Board (SAB) led by Chairman Prof. Dr. Iqbal

Memon.

I was also blessed to have many invaluable mentors such as Mr. Abdul Aziz

Tayabani, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed Madraswala, Engr. Pervez Abubaker, Mr. Abdul

Jabbar Rathod, Engr. M. Saleem Rangoonwala, Mr. Muhammad Zubair, Dr.

Mohammad Khalid Bhambha, Mr. Asif Ismail, Mr. Abdul Razzak Ismail, Mr. Khalid

AbdulLatif and last but not least our Honorable President Mr. Abdul Hameed Kath, to

name a few, who have guided me throughout the year for running the affairs of the

Forum effectively.

I was also lucky to have a great team of Office Bearers. I would like to thanks Mr.

Abdul Hameed Kath, Mr. Abdul Razzak Esmail, Mr. Altaf Lateef, Mr. Mohammad Ali

bhabha and specially Mr. Muhammad Iqbal Gaba. They were always available to

brace me with full energy whenever needed.

I take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation and thanks to all Members

of the Managing Committee namely Mr. Asif Ismail, Mr. Abdul Jabbar Rathod, Mr.

Abdul Rahim Karim, Engr. M. Saleem Rangoonwala Dr. Abdul Rasheed E. Vayani,

support throughout my tenure as Honorary Secretary General. It was a wonderful

experience working with a nice blend of senior members of the Forum.

During the year we conducted various activities with an aim to address all major

professional disciplines. In order to enhance the networking, two gatherings were

organized one was “MPF Family Picnic & Get together” for MPF members and their

families after seven years and other one “MPF Eid Milan – Networking Brunch”

under the convenership of Mr. Abdul Jabbar Rathod.

The major task for us was publication of Diary 2016 and with separate addition of

Islamic Desk Calendar for MPF Members, our Diary Committee under the

convenership of Mr. Abdul Jabbar Rathod. By the grace of Almighty ALLAH, I feel

pleasure to declare that we had a record surplusfor which I congratulate Convener

Diary Committee Mr. Abdul Jabbar Rathod, Co-Convener Mr. Muhammad Shoaib

Ibrahim and their team for the tremendous hard work put in by them and making us

proud.

This year a survey was carried out among MPF members for Members Data Update.

This exercise also allowed us to verify the members’ data. Mr. Fahim Sulaiman -

Convener, Mr. Muhammad Iqbal Gaba - Joint Secretary and President Mr. Abdul

Hameed Kath deserves special appreciation in this regard who not only floated the

idea but also remained instrumental in its implementation process. This electronic

survey (telephonic and web based) also gave a boost to our team as Members, in

general, reposed their confidence in MPF.

With a strong emphasis on effective communication with the Members, a SMS

service was established to inform members about various programs along with

updating of a MPF page on Facebook and MPF Website. Mr. Muhammad Iqbal

Gaba and Mr. Wasim Raza Patel deserve applaud for their significant role in this

lot of potential. The undergoing preparation to launch “MPF Excellence Award –

Meet the Future Leaders” was part of this plan and I hope that after launching this

program in next few months, we will be able to augment our growth significantly.

Report on Events & Programs Held During the Year

1. Dars & Mehfil-e-Naat:

This program was organized by our Ladies Wing which was held on Saturday

26th December, 2015 in the Holy month of Rabbi-ul-Awwal. At the beginning

of the program Naats were recited where after an informative Religious Dars

was given by a popular, professional Naat khuwan Ms. Faiza Junaid. After the

Dars Ms. Faiza Junaid also recited numerous famous Naats. The program

ended with Dua. The ladies participants of this program thoroughly enjoyed

the Mehfil. The Mehfil concluded with distribution of refreshment boxes among

the participants. Efforts of the Convener Ladies wing Ms. Sharmeen Majeed

and co-convener ladies wing Ms. Sadia Iqbal Memon were appreciated by all

the participants.

2. Seminar on “OBESITY – Causes, Effects, Control and Treatment”

This program was organized by our Health committee which was held on

January 31st 2016. The speaker was Dr. Abdul Rasheed E. Vayani (MC

Member - Memon Professional Forum, Medical Superintendant - KMC

Homoeo Hospital, Chairman - Health & Hygiene Society). MASHALLAH he

has presented about the causes, effects, control and treatment of obesity. The

program was open for the members and their guests. Keeping the importance

of the subject and also anticipating the large crowd it was held outside the

MPF Secretariat. Program Speaker Dr. Abdul Rasheed E. Vayani showed his

presentation on the topic an briefed the participants as to how to opt for a

healthy lifestyle. This program was highly appreciated by all the participants.

After the speech of the learned speaker our Hon. Secretary General

presented vote of thanks and also thanked the learned Speaker for sharing

his esteemed knowledge and experience with the participants, where after a

memento was presented to the learned Speaker by our President Mr. Abdul

Hameed Kath as a token of appreciation and remembrance. After the program

refreshment was served to the participants.

3. Seminar on “Banking Laws”

This program was organized by our Legal Committee, which was held on 27-

02-2016. The program was arranged in IKM Seminar Hall, UMH F.B area.

The speaker was Mr. Muhammad Saleem Thapdawala, Advocate Supreme

Court, Life Member of MPF. The convener and co-convener Mr. Saleem Altaf

Advocate and Mr. Khalid Abdul Latif Advocate respectively made remarkable

efforts for nice arrangements; attendance of the audience etc. Due to

President tour abroad, Senior Vice President Chaired the program. Hon.

Secretary General presented about the brief activities of the Forum. The

speaker Mr. Saleem Thapdawala presented his paper on "ISLAMIC

BANKING", and thereafter Q & A session held in which majority of Qs were

asked by the participates relating to banking jobs. The papers of the topic

were uploaded on MPF website. At the end of the program, a memento was

presented to the learned speaker by our Senior Vice President Mr. Abdul.

Razzak Esmail as a token of appreciation and remembrance. After the program Hi-Tea was served to guests.

4. Seminar on “Shariah Compliant Investment”

An awareness seminar on “Shariah Compliant Investment“ was held at MPF

Secretariat on Friday, March 25, 2016 in collaboration with Al Ameen Islamic Financial Services.

The seminar started at 6:30 p.m. with recitation from Holy Quran. Then Mr.

Mustafa Hanif Balagamwala, Hon. Secretary General MPF invited President

Mr. Abdul Hameed Kath for the inaugural speech. He gave a brief introduction

about MPF and the activities taking place under the leadership of the new

Managing Committee. He laid great stress on the importance of savings. He had a view that increase in savings contribute to economic development.

Next, Mr. Imran, Group sales Manager, Islamic Investments, was invited for

his presentation. He explained in detail about the Islamic Investments. He spoke on some basic points as follows:

The definition of a Islamic Investments

The role of the fund managers

The investment of these funds

The benefits we receive from investing in Islamic investments.

The participants appreciated the presentation of Mr. Imran. Question &

Answer session was conducted by Mr. Shahid Gul Motiwala CEO Al Ameen

Islamic Financial Services. At the end of the program vote of thanks was

presented by our Hon. Secretary General where after a memento was

presented to learned speaker by our President. After the program refreshment was served to the participants.

5. Interactive Seminar on “Performance Measurement of a Supply Chain and What Can Six Sigma do for you?” An awareness seminar on topic “Performance Measurement of Supply chain

&What can six sigma do for you?” was held on Saturday, April 02, 2016 at

MPF Secretariat. MPF Engineering Committee under the kind guidance of Mr.

Saleem Rangoonwala and convener Engr. Abdul Rahim Abdul Karim

arranged this seminar. Both the topics were of immense importance nearly for all the organizations. A huge participation was observed at MPF secretariat.

Donuts and Coffee were served to all the participants before the starting of

the program. Later the seminar started with recitation from Holy Quran by Mr.

Abdul Khalid Latif followed by a welcome speech by the President Mr. Abdul Hameed Kath.

The speaker of the program was Mr. Muhammad Akmal Attaullah the

professional speaker of the subjects, particular Six Sigma, Project Management, Quality Management and supply Chain Management.

The speaker attracted the attention of audience and delighted the participants

by his knowledge and methodology. Among the audience directors, GMs and

managers and score of professional of well reputed organizations were

present. This encourages MPF to arrange this sort of program at MPF secretariat. The participants took keen interest in the Q & A session.

Our Hon. Secretary General Mr. Mustafa Hanif Balagamwala presented vote

of thanks afterward a memento was presented to the learned Speaker by President - MPF Mr. Abdul Hameed Kath as a token of remembrance.

6. MPF Family Picnic & Get Together

A large number of MPF members and their families spent a day full of fun at

Shamsi Farm House & Resort on Sunday, May 1, 2016. The MPF – Family

Picnic & Get together always provide an opportunity to MPF members and

their families for a social interaction, which they enjoy greatly. The event was

full of fun-filled activities like various competitions, stage performances,

magic/puppet shows for kids, lucky draws, indoor and outdoor games with swimming & boating etc.

The program started with the recitation of the versus of Holy Quran by Mr.

Shahzain Abdul Hameed Kath followed by a welcome speech by the

President of our Forum Mr. Abdul Hameed Kath in which he gave the brief

introduction about MPF and some of the future activities to be held by the

Forum.

Thereafter our host of the event Mr. Saleem Altaf invited Mr. Abdul Jabbar

Rathod (Convener – MPF Family Picnic Organizing Committee) for the brief report and activities of the picnic.

Mr. Abdul Jabbar Rathod, Mr. Abdul Haseeb Vayani and Dr. Saira Bano got

all kids and youngsters engaged in various competitions held at the spot

including singing, playing games, mehndi and drawing competition etc. At this

occasion a large number of gifts were awarded not only to the winners but

through lucky draws as well with the courtesy of Shield Corporation, Arabian

Textiles, Aziz Products, Naubahar Rice, Tapal Tea &Haji Caterers & Decorators.

After Namaz-e-Zohar, Lunch and Tea were served at 2:00 p.m. then colorful

activities began again which lasted for two hours.

Later the mementos were presented by the Past Presidents to Mr. Abdul Aziz

Tayabani in recognition for his services to the forum as a President for the

term 2014-15 and Mr. Khalid Abdul Latif in recognition for his services to the

forum as a Hon. Secretary General for the Term 2014-15. Mr. Abdul Aziz

Tayabani was out of country, therefore Memento received by Mr. Muhammad Zubair.

The picnic ended with the vote of thanks by Hon. Secretary General Mr.

Mustafa Hanif Balagamwala. He thanked the audience, the members of MPF,

Members Managing Committee of MPF and especially to the Past Presidents

of MPF Mr. Hanif Janoo, Mr. Abdul Wahid Taijani, Mr. Abdul Qadir Memon,

Engr. Mohammad Siddiq Essa, Engr. M. Saleem Rangoonwala, Mr.

Mahmood Parekh and Mr. Muhammad Zubair who had graced the occasion with their presence.

He thanked the entire team of Picnic Organizing Committee, MPF Office

Secretariat, volunteer and last but not least expressed his heartfelt thanks to

Mr. Abdul Jabbar Rathod (Convener – MPF Picnic Organizing Committee) for

arranging this colorful event.

President Mr. Abdul Hameed Kath and Hon. Secretary General Mr. Mustafa

Hanif Balagamwala presented a plaque to Mr. Abdul Jabbar Rathod in

recognition of his service as Convener and that was the memorable moment in the history of MPF when audience has given him standing ovation.

7. “MPF Eid Milan & Networking Brunch” at Defense Authority Sunset Club

MPF Eid Milan & Networking Brunch was organized for the members and

their families, including their children on Sunday, July 31, 2016, at Defence

Authority Sunset Club, DHA, Karachi.

The President of MPF, Abdul Hameed Kath expressed with joy that it was

very well attended by the MPF Past Presidents, members and their families;

some 11 Past Presidents attended this event, among them we were lucky

enough to have one of the senior and founding Presidents of MPF, Janab

Ebrahim Qassim Sahb. Besides him, we had Hanif Janoo Sahb, Prof. Dr.

Iqbal Memon Sahb, Saleem Rangoonwala Sahb, Muhammad Zubair Sahb,

Engr. Siddiq Essa Sahb, Engr. Pervez Abubaker Sahb, Asif Ismail Sahb,

Haroon Qassim Sahb, Mehmood Parekh Sahb and Abdul Aziz Tayabani

Sahb. A number of ex office bearers, senior and junior members and their

families made this event a success.

The President of MPF mentioned that one of our past presidents, Mr. Hanif S.

Kaliya sahb was expected to attend but due to his health issue he could not

make it to it while his son Mr. Khurram Kaliya and other family members were

present. He mentioned that some of our Past presidents, like Yusuf Adil sahb,

Abdul Wahid Tejani Sahb, Abdul Qadir Memon Sahb, Ashraf Bawany Sahb,

Rafiq Rangoonwala Sahb and Hanif Jakhura Sahb could not attend due to

them being out of town. He emphasized that all those who could not attend

this event have missed a great opportunity. However, he thanked again all the

participants who made this event a success.

President of MPF, Abdul Hameed Kath while delivering his welcome speech

to all the participants paid tribute to the founding President of MPF, Late Prof.

Dr. Abdul Majeed Memon and mentioned that the plant of MPF that he had

planted back in 1985 has become an strong tree which has been serving the

Memon community in the field of professional development since then. He

also requested all the participants to pray for the departed soul of Abdul Sattar

Edhi sahb on this occasion.

Mr. Abdul Jabbar Rathod, Convener of Social Committee while thanking all

the participants to the MPF Eid Milan and Networking Brunch mentioned that

he adored all the Past presidents and senior members of MPF from whom he

has learnt a lot. All the participants enjoyed and got cheered up by his witty

and full of humour style of mastering the ceremony. He engaged all the

participants and kept them active during the entire ceremony.

As per the tradition of MPF, all Office Bearers of last term i.e. 2014-15 were

presented with a token of appreciation in the form of Shields by the hands of

our respectable Past Presidents.

Before the closing, our Past President Ebrahim Qassim sahb spoke to the

participants and mentioned that he feel very happy to be one of the founding

members of MPF and feel pleasure to be here when MPF is now 31 years old.

Hanif Janoo sahb also expressed his views with emotions that out of so many

other organizations and clubs, he likes the MPF most and feel to be with one

family whenever he is attending any MPF event. He thanked the President

and all the Managing Committee members and convener of Social committee

for inviting him to today’s even.

Engr. Saleem Rangoonwala sahb while speaking to the participants

mentioned that we feel pride that at MPF we have Past President from one

family. i.e. Ebrahim Qassim Sahb as father and Haroon Qassim sahb as son

He expressed emotionally that such kind of bonding and attachment is not

seen anywhere expect MPF.

formal vote of thanks to all the Past Presidents, Members, their family

encouragement in holding a successful Eid Milan and Networking Brunch.

8. Seminar on “Kidney Stone” – Its Causes, Management and Treatment”

This program was organized by our Medical committee which was held on

Sunday, August 7, 2016. The Speaker was Dr. Moin Qureshi, Urologist,

Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. He presented about the causes, management and

treatment of Kidney stone. He explained that Kidney stones are small, hard

masses that form within the kidneys. Kidney stone analysis uses one or more

test methods to examine and determine the composition of a stone. This is

done in order to help identify the cause of the stone and, where possible, to

prevent the formation of more stones. The program was open for the

members and their guests. This program was highly appreciated by all the

participants. After the speech of the learned speaker our President presented

vote of thanks and also thanked the learned Speaker for sharing his

esteemed knowledge and experience with the participants, afterward a

memento was presented to the learned Speaker by our President Mr. Abdul

Hameed Kath and our Hon. Secretary General Mr. Mustafa Hanif Balagamwala as a token of appreciation and remembrance.

9. Seminar on “Soft Skills Revamping Lives”

A seminar was held at MPF Secretariat in the evening of Saturday, August 20,

2016 on the topic of “Soft Skills Revamping Lives”. The program started at

about 6:15 p.m. with the recitation of the verses of Holy Quran by Mr. Khalid

Abdul Latif. Mr. Fahim Sulaiman (MC Member) invited the President of our

Forum Mr. Abdul Hameed Kath to give his welcome speech in which he

briefed about the activities of MPF and updated the participants that a

program titled “MPF Excellence Awards – Meet the Future Leader” is planned

to be held in coming months.

The speaker Mr. M. Ali was invited for his presentation. He is a Motivational

Speaker, General and Business English, IELTS Instructor. He explained what

exactly is meant by Soft Skills. He explained “Soft skills” is a synonym for

"people skills." The term describes those personal attributes that indicate a

high level of emotional intelligence. Unlike hard skills, which describe a

person's technical skill set and ability to perform specific tasks, soft skills are broadly applicable across job titles and industries.

The speaker attracted the attention of audience and delighted the participants

Keeping the tradition of MPF alive, this year also, Diary 2016 project was completed

successfully under the convenership of Mr. Abdul Jabbar Rathod and Co-convener

Diary committee Mr. Muhammad Shoaib Ibrahim. This year we have also published

a gift of perpetual Islamic Desk Calendar with our Diary 2016 to all the members of

Memon Professional Forum. Alhamdulillah for the very first time in 30 years history of Memon Professional Forum we have received highest number of Advertisements.

Minutes of 31st Annual General Meeting The 31st Annual General Meeting (Meeting) of the Memon Professional Forum

(Forum) was held on Sunday 20th September, 2015 at the MPF Office located at

Exclusive Trade Centre, Plot No: 26-C, 4th Floor, Rahat Commercial Lane 3,

Defence Housing Authority, Phase-VI, Karachi. At the scheduled time of 11:00 a.m.

the quorum was not complete, therefore the Meeting was adjourned for half an hour

and it started at 11:30 a.m., presided by the President of the Forum Mr. Abdul Aziz

Tayabani. On the head table with him seated were Mr. Abdul Hameed Kath the

Senior Vice President, Mr. M. Rizwan Usman the Vice President, Mr. Khalid Latif the

Hon. Secretary General, Mr. Mustafa Hanif Balagamwala the Joint Secretary and Mr.

Abdul Basit Kothari the Treasurer. The Meeting was conducted on the basis of

Agenda of Meeting that was duly circulated, by the Hon. Secretary General, with the

Notice of Meeting dated 5th August, 2015. The Agenda wise proceedings are as

The adjourned Meeting started with the recitation from the Holy Quran by the

Agenda No. 2 - To confirm the minutes of 30th AGM held on 28th September, 2014: The Minutes of the 30th Annual General Meeting held on 28th September, 2014 were

circulated amongst the members along with the published 30th Annual Report for the

Term 2014-2015 & Audited Accounts for the year ended 30th June, 2015. No matter

was raised relating to the Minutes of the 30th AGM and the Minutes were approved

as proposed by Mrs. Farzana Munaf and seconded by Mr. Mahmood Parekh.

Agenda No. 3 - To consider and approve the Annual Report for the year 2014-2015: Starting the discussion the President Mr. Abdul Aziz Tayabani read out his detailed

message contained in the published Annual Report for the Year 2014- 2015 and

briefed the members about the work and programs done by his team i.e. the

Managing Committee during the tenure of his presidentship, mainly the Diary 2015

Project, induction of new members into the fold of MPF, the programs arranged by

the Ladies Wing and the much awaited Entrepreneurship Conference ‘Dare to

Dream’. He also briefed the members about the financial conditions of the Forum at

the time he took the charge and how some of the members of his Managing

Committee rescued the Forum and helped to come out of the said crucial financial

conditions by giving loans and the financial assistance. Later he compared the

financial position with the figures at the beginning when he and his Managing

Committee took over the charge on 28th September, 2014 with the figures at the time

when he and his Managing Committee is giving away the charge on 20th September,

2015.

He thanked Mr. Muhammad Shoaib Ibrahim, the Convener of the Diary Committee,

Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed Madraswala the Convener of the Membership Development

Committee, Mrs. Rehana Aziz the Convener of the Ladies Wing and Mr. Muhammad

Hanif Jankhura the Convener of the Conference Organizing Committee and all the

other members of Conference Organizing Committee for organizing

Entrepreneurship Conference ‘Dare to Dream’. He also thanked all the members of

the Managing Committee for always being there with him at his right and left on

every event/project and supporting him by approving whatever decisions were being

taken by him. He also thanked Mr. Ahsan Ahmed Memon the MPF Office Secretary

for his help and co-operation throughout the year.

He ended his speech under the huge round of applaud by all the members present in

the Meeting.

After that Mr. Khalid Latif asked the house whether they would like him to read out

the Annual Report for the year 2014-2015 which was already there in their hands.

The house unanimously decided to take the said Annual Report as read and so it

was taken to have been read. Thereafter the floor was opened for the discussion on

the said Annual Report.

-- Mr. Muhammad Shoaib Ibrahim said that though the task of Diary Project was very

difficult. It was the team effort and the support of sponsors. He said that behind it

there was the continuous helping hand of the good leadership of the President that

made the Diary Project successful. Mr. Altaf Lateef added to this by saying that we

expect more this year from the incoming new Office Bearers.

-- Mr. Abdul Qadir Memon advised to get registered our Forum with the Tax

Authorities as we loose sufficient amount by the way of higher tax deductions

because of being Non-Filer. He appreciated the organizing and arrangements of

MPF Dare to Dream Entrepreneurship Conference and suggested that we should

think over and organize such conferences on other subjects& topics also which can

give boost to our Forum.

-- Mr. Muhammad Ashraf Bawany quoted that “Behind Every Successful Man There

is One Lady” and said that Mrs. Rehana Aziz has proved it this year by organizing

many successful programs of Ladies Wing. He appreciated her efforts and services

for our Forum. His this saying and appreciation was seconded by the whole house in

the shape of huge applause.

-- Mr. Muhammad Zubair congratulated the Conference Organizing Committee and

its Convener Mr. Muhammad Hanif Jakhura for organizing such a wonderful event

for the benefit of our Forum, which has surely increased the image of our Forum. He

suggested for starting some other projects like Education and Small Skill based

Trainings for the members of our Forum and their children.

-- Ms. Sumaira Muhammad congratulated Mrs. Rehana Aziz for conducting and

giving many successful Programs/ Events.

-- Mr. M. Saleem Rangoonwala reminded about the earlier proposal of forming MPF

Academy and suggested to join hands with some educational institutions like IBA/

Eureka etc. for the better education and knowledge of our members and their family.

-- Ms. Hena Sadiq suggested that the tenure of the President of our Forum should be

of two years instead of one year at the present. She very much appreciated and liked

our program ‘Networking Brunch’ held on 9th August, 2015 at Karachi Club Annexe

and suggested that we should continue and arrange more such events so that our

family members and young generation can meet each other regularly to create better

understanding amongst themselves.

Thereafter the Annual Report for the Year 2014-2015 was adopted unanimously by

the house with a huge round of applause.

Agenda No. 4 - To consider and approve Audited Accounts for the year ended 30th June, 2015: -- Starting the discussion on the Accounts Mrs. Farzana Munaf said that last year I

had observed and remarked that the “Financial Statements are Net Negative” but

this year I must appreciate the efforts of the President and say that the Gross

Income this year is almost double. She was referring to the figures under the head

Income of the Income & Expenditure Account on Page No: 48 of the Annual Report.

She also appreciated the efforts taken to reduce the expenses inspite of organizing

more events. For this she was referring and comparing the figures of the head

Seminar and Program with its Note No: 13. She very much appreciated the

management of funds and also appreciated the quality of the programs.

-- The President Mr. Abdul Aziz Tayabani informed the house that from the Diary

Project we have, this year, earned highest income as compared to last 10 years and

from the Entrepreneurship Conference ‘Dare to Dream’ we are expecting a Surplus

of more than 2.00 Million rupees. He also informed the house that so far we have

received Rs.0.793 Million and the balance will soon be received. The Surplus of the

Conference will appear in the accounts of the next year and like this we shall be

leaving a huge amount for the incoming President and his team.

-- Mr. Muhammad Hanif Janoo said that the Annual Accounts are made up to

30thJune every year, while the Managing Committee works almost up to the end of

September. Since the Entrepreneurship Conference ‘Dare to Dream’ was organized

in this Term on 9thSeptember, 2015 therefore all its income is supposed to be

reflected in the Accounts of the next Term. He therefore suggested that the Income

of the Conference of this Term should be highlighted in the Accounts of the next year

as the Income of Event / Conference held in the Term of the Last Year for record

purposes. His this suggestion was liked by the house and the same was approved

for the accounts of the next Term.

After the aforesaid discussion house approved the Accounts as proposed by Mr.

Muhammad Hanif Janoo and seconded by Mr. Waseem Raza Patel.

Agenda No.5 -To appoint auditor(s) for the year 2015-2016 and fix their remuneration, if any: The Treasurer Mr. Abdul Basit Kothari informed the house that M/s. Sikandar &

Company Chartered Accountants have been providing their honorary services as our

auditor, now almost for the past 10 years. They have consented for the Audit of our

Forum’s accounts as External Auditor for next term of 2015-2016. Now as far as their

fee is concerned, they will inform us later.

The house unanimously approved a sum of Rs. 15,000/- (Rupees fifteen thousand

per annum) as their remuneration.

Agenda No. 6 - Any other matter with the permission of the Chair: ( 1 ) The house recited Fatiha for the departed souls of Mr. Ashraf Ayub Mandvia,

our Senior Vice President for the term 2013-2014 and Mr. Hashim Hussain Kath

MPF Office Manager.

( 2 ) Mrs. Farzana Munaf appreciated the efforts of Mr. Ahsan Ahmed Memon the

Office Secretary of our Forum. She was of the view that after the death of Mr.

Hashim Hussain Kath during last year and the resignation of Mr. Abdul Haseeb

Vayani in December 2014, he did his best and managed office matters quite

successfully.

( 3 ) The President Mr. Abdul Aziz Tayabani informed the house that he would like

to present mementoes to all his Office Bearers, to the members of his Managing

Committee, to the Election Commissioner Mr. Mohammad Yakub Kapadia and to

Mr. Ahsan Ahmed Memon in recognition of their services to our Forum during his

Term. He also informed the house that the cost of the mementoes has been borne

by him and not by our Forum. Thereafter the mementoes were presented by him to

all the Office Bearers and the members of Managing Committee.

( 4 ) The Office Bearers and the members of the Managing Committee also

presented a shield to the President Mr. Abdul Aziz Tayabani in recognition of his

able leadership for the Term 2014-2015.

Agenda No.7 - To elect Members of Managing Committee for the term 2015-2017.

The President Mr. Abdul Aziz Tayabani requested the Election Commissioner Mr.

Mohammad Yakub Kapadia to Chair the house to hold the elections of the Members

of the Managing Committee for the term 2015-2017. Mr. Mohammad Yakub Kapadia

took the Chair and announced that only 19 (Nineteen) nomination forms for the

Members of the Managing Committee have been received by him and all the forms

have been found to be valid, therefore he declared all the 19 contestants elected

unopposed for the term 2015-2017.

After that, the Election Commissioner, called for the nomination forms for the election

of 06 (six) prescribed posts of the Office Bearers and announced that he has

received only 06 (six) forms for the 06 (six) prescribed posts and has found all of

them to be valid. He thereafter announced the names of the unopposed elected

Office Bearers and the Members of the Managing Committee as follows:

After the election process was over, the newly elected President and the Office

Bearers were invited to come to the head table. They then came to the head table

and introduced themselves to the house. The newly elected President Mr. Abdul

Hameed Kath then called the names of all the elected Members of the Managing

Committee who upon their name call stood up and got themselves recognized to the

house. The newly elected President Mr. Abdul Hameed Kath in his welcome address

appreciated the services of the outgoing President Mr. Abdul Aziz Tayabani and

pledged to work with the same zeal and thanked the Members of his Managing

Committee for posing the confidence in him and electing him as President of the

Forum for the term 2015-2016. He emphasized to work upon the Education Sector

as his main priority.
