Dear Friends in Christ, As we come to Lent's Second Week, we look to all that is happening at St. Ann's related to this beautiful season of renewal. Our Day of Reflection on The Our Father will take place next Saturday, February 27, from 10-2 PM in the church hall. We will prayerfully consider the entire prayer and think about ways that we can live all the portions of it. The day will include Exposition and Benediction as well as lunch. Join us for an opportunity to deepen your understanding of one of the greatest prayers in our tradition. The signup sheet is on the main bulletin board. On March 5 and 6, Strengthen Your Brothers Ministry will be holding a book sale in the front vestibule of the church. The Ministry will be selling new and used religious books. All proceeds will benefit Strengthen Your Brothers. Take some time to get some new resources to enrich your spiritual life! Also on March 5 and 6, the Oxford Council of the Knights of Columbus will holding a breakfast after the 9 and 11 am Masses. Proceeds of the breakfast will be put towards the St. Ann's Parish Winter maintenance expenses. Tickets are on sale after all Masses in the sacristy. In conjunction with the breakfast, the Knights will be holding a membership drive. To all men of the parish who are not Knights, I would personally invite you to join us. During this Lenten season, we consider new ways to grow in faith and put it into action. Becoming a Knight is one way to do both. Before our meetings we gather for Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction as well as the rosary. Deepen your life of prayer as well as meet other committed Catholic men with which to share fellowship. We wish to congratulate Tara D'Ambra, William Brown and Charlotte Worster who participated in the Rite of Election at the Cathedral last Sunday. We are proud of their progress and commit ourselves to pray for them daily as they complete the final period of preparation leading up to their initiation as new Catholics at the Easter Vigil. Let's keep praying for one another as we journey together during Lent. In Christ, Fr. Michael

Spiritual & Corporal Works of Mercy In this Jubilee Year of Mercy let us reflect on the meaning of and ways to live the works of Mercy in our daily lives. Visit the imprisoned Lately, we have seen a number of "reality" TV shows about life behind bars. The incarcerated people featured on them lament their situation, and often, the violence and degradation of prison life is depicted in graphic detail for us, the viewers. Yet real people go to prison every day. Many are indeed guilty of crimes they have been sentenced for, but they are still God's children with an inherent dignity and worth. A large amount of prisoners got there because of addictions to drugs and/or alcohol which spiraled out of control. Jesus gives us the challenge of finding Him living within inmates. When we work to eliminate the root causes of violence, such as poverty, we keep new people from eventually becoming imprisoned. To visit those behind bars is to move with God's Spirit and grace, so that those without hope may come to know the freedom of heart that Jesus brings.
