INTERVIEW SUBJECT GUIDE

A guide to the interviews and publications

of the

GREENWICH LIBRARY ORAL HISTORY PROJECT This is a guide to the more than eight hundred and fifty interviews conducted since its founding in 1973 by the Greenwich Library Oral History Project (OHP). Sponsored by the Friends of Greenwich Library, the Project is staffed by volunteers, and new members are always welcome.

The recollections of the narrators interviewed span the period from the 1890s to the present and provide an extraordinary portrait of life in Greenwich, Connecticut. The transcripts of the interviews and a detailed index to the collection are located in the local history reference area of the Greenwich Library. The published books circulate at the Greenwich Library, its Cos Cob and Byram Shubert branches, and the Perrot Memorial Library in Old Greenwich, Connecticut. The interview CDs, transcripts, and oral history books may also be purchased at the Oral History office. Nearly all of these interviews have been transcribed, and more than two hundred of them have been published as or excerpted in 137 books published by the OHP. This guide is intended as a reference for the student, scholar, and casual reader. Researchers are reminded that the Greenwich Library, which has reserved all rights relating to the oral interviews, transcripts, and publications, has copyrighted them. Any question regarding permission to use any of these materials must be directed to the local history reference librarian of the Greenwich Library. Attribution to the Greenwich Library Oral History Project must be given for any use of the material.
