KNOCKING OFF THE NATIONALLY RANKEDFor the fourth consecutive season, South Dakota State defeated a team nationally ranked in the top 25 with its 88-79 win over No. 15 DePaul on Dec. 15. The Jackrabbits had previously defeated No. 15 Nebraska (2012-13), No. 12 Penn State (2013-14) and No. 25 Arkansas (2014-15). The nine-point win over DePaul was also the largest margin of victory of those four contests. The win was also SDSU’s fi fth over a nationally ranked program since joining The Summit League in 2007-08.

ABOUT THE SUMMITIn its fourth decade of Division I athletics, The Summit League offers 19 championship sports and has a combined enrollment of over 120,000 at nine institutions, including four located in top 60 U.S. metro populations and two land-grant universities. Member institutions include: Denver (University of Denver), Fort Wayne (Indiana University-Purdue University-Fort Wayne), IUPUI (Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis), North Dakota State University, Omaha (University of Nebraska Omaha), Oral Roberts University, the University of South Dakota, South Dakota State University and Western Illinois University. THIS AND THAT• Since joining The Summit League, SDSU has a combined 218-77 (.739)overall record and 127-26 (.830) league mark.• SDSU has been ranked in the Mid-Major Top 25 Poll 79 of the last 80 weeks.• Western Illinois tied the program record with 17 3FGM twice this season, while South Dakota State drained 17 treys vs. Old Dominion. That number is tied for fourth in league history.• Oral Roberts captured its third-straight PSO Mayor’s Cup by defeating Tulsa on Nov. 20.• South Dakota connected on 17 treys in the loss at Kansas State (Nov. 19), setting a new Bramlage Coliseum record.• A regular season Frost Arena record 5,532 fans were in attendance for the SDSU vs. Notre Dame game on Nov. 21.

CONSTRUCTION BOOMOmaha opens its new facility, Baxter Arena, on Nov. 14 as The Summit League is in the midst of a construction boom. IUPUI and The Summit League Tournament began playing in upgraded arenas last season. North Dakota State will move into a drastically renovated facility and South Dakota will open a brand-new arena in 2016-17. By next season, 44 percent of the league will be playing in new buildings.
