Here we are in November already …WOW. It’s Election time for all of us of voting age. I went early how about you. Whatever you do and whoever you choose to vote for, make sure you get out and VOTE!!!! If you don’t VOTE you can’t bitch about what goes on, cause you didn’t do your part. Think of all the Veterans, who served our country and those that paid the ultimate price for us to have the right to VOTE in free society. Happy Veterans Day to all our Gearhead Vets out there. Have a great Thanksgiving too later on in the month. While you may think that all the fun car stuff is over for the year, you are WRONG!! Check out the show section for some cool events here in November. Speaking of November events, make sure you block out some time to come to the 5th Annual Kris Kringle Kar Show on Nov. 8-9. From what we are hearing, Tom Akers and his crew have picked out about 80 “TOO COOL” rides for this year’s show. With a $2.00 entry fee to the show, you can’t beat it. When you come out to the show, make sure and stop by the HOT RODS & THREADS FULL SERVICE HOT ROD SHOP booth and say hey!! As you will see, I have cleared off all the Cruise Nite info. As you get them going for 2009 send me the info and we’ll get it listed for you. If you have a Cruise Nite going thru the late fall & winter months send that to me also and we’ll tell everyone about it. Check out the new issue of HOT ROD magazine in your mail box or on the newsstands now. Check out pg’s 40-41, in the story about the Danny Thompson Mustang that was run this year at Bonneville Salt
Flats. Gearhead Buddy Chuck Henderson (Kris Henderson’s dad and part of Kris crew for the Maxton April meet HOT ROD Jacket winner See a pattern here??) is in the picture as part of the crew on this TOO COOL ride. As a side note, check out his hat. That’s right…one of those COOL Hot Rods & Threads Hats. Congrats Chuck on being part of history with the Mustang…nice article. Speaking of Hot Rods & Threads celebrated their 3rd anniversary this past October. Congrats to the whole team at HR&T!! Giving a shout out to Danny Brown and his buddy Bill & Billy Webb. They got their picture in the NSRA StreetScene issue featuring the NATS. They are standing around Danny’s TOO COOL Model A Nostalgia ride, bench racing we can tell. Also want to recognize Bill Johnson and his 39 FORD. The bright red ride is looking good in the same issue. Congrats go out to Mark & Rhonda Delk for winning the “MIGHTY MUSTANG” award and Paul & Jewell Shauck for winning the “COOL CAMARO” awards at the GOODGUYS Nostalgia Nationals recently held at Beech Bend Raceway. Everyone that went said great show with near perfect weather. The event will be back next year so plan on attending. Gerry Schmidt, President of the Battlefield Region of the AACA recently had a very nice article in the TENNESSEAN. It focused on his collection of Juke Boxes, Player Piano and other antique music players. Gerry is quite the collector and does his own repair and fixing of the devices. Congrats Gerry!! We recently reported that work was progressing on the GARAGEMAJHAL in Franklin Tn. Insider info has come across our
desk, from sources (we will never tell our sources!!) deep in the project mgmt staff, that what we reported may not be 100% correct. Work is actually going slower than reported as the project manager has been seen “blowing off” a possible day to work on the project and he went shopping for NON GARAGE STUFF!! WOW that is HUGE!! Sounds like the new completion day may be up to 2 years down the road. As we learn more we’ll let you know. We welcome any rebuttals from the project manager if Brian so chooses to send one to us. SOME BREAKING NEWS!!! In 2009, the Hot Rod Power tour will make a Cruise Nite stop at the SOMERSET Cruise enroute to Bristol Tn. The actual date hasn’t been revealed yet, but stay tuned and we’ll let you know as we find out. This will be a BIG Cruise nite in Somerset!! Make sure you take a look at the business listings and website info. A couple of new GEARHEAD friendly businesses have come aboard this month.
