Thou believe that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. We have to

do more than just believe; (simply intellectually agreeing with the reality of the fact that God exists).

James 1:22-25 Power and authority over the enemy is found only in obedience! Ephesians 4:14

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of

the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholds

himself, and goes his way, and straightway forgets what manner of man he was. But whoso looks into

the perfect law of liberty, and continues therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work,

this man shall be blessed in his deed. Consider the armor of God; 7 offensive and defensive weapons.

Offensive: Shoes, sword, prayer; Defensive: Breastplate, shield, helmet, truth; What covered the back?

1 John 5:4-5 We overcome the world through faith in His word! 2 Corinthians 6:17-18

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world,

even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

1 John 3:8 We overcome self, the world and the enemy by abiding in Jesus! John 15:5

He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of

God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

John 14:30 Jesus walked in the power of the Spirit! 1 John 4:17 1 John 5:18

Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

1 Corinthians 10:13 We overcome the attack of the enemy through Christ’s Power!

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not

suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to

escape, that ye may be able to bear it. Sin is bondage: Romans 6:6; Strongholds: 2 Corinthians 10:4;

James 4:7 Two step process for overcoming enemy’s temptation! John 8:36

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Presence & Obedience!

Three primary types of attacks of the enemy are: 1) deceptions 2) temptations 3) accusations;

James 4:8 Walk close to God, commit to holiness, renew your mind! Amos 3:3

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts,

ye double minded. Ephesians 5:26 Romans 12:2 Psalm 139:23 Psalm 51:10 Luke 1:74-75

Psalms 84:11 The Lord is always with you in the battle! Deuteronomy 32:30-31 Ecclesiastes 4:12

For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold

from them that walk uprightly. 1 Peter 5: 8 vs. 2 Chronicles 16:9 - The choice is yours!

John 8:31-34 Obedience is the pathway to victory over self, the world and the enemy!

Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples

indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. They answered him, We be

Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? Jesus

answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever commits sin is the servant of sin.

Isaiah 59:19-20 The Lord will cause our enemies to fear us if we will walk uprightly!

So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the

enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him. And the

Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the Lord.

1 John 4:4 Our victory is assured only as we abide in Him!

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that

is in the world. The battle will be won before we even get there! Exodus 23:27 1 Corinthians 10:11

Matthew 4:1-11 Jesus set the pattern for us to follow when tempted by our enemy!

Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had

fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. And when the tempter came to him,

he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and

said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth

of God. Then the devil took him up into the holy city, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith

unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge

concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a

stone. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Again, the devil

took him up into an exceeding high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and the

glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God,

and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil left him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto

him.

Matthew 27:40 Our enemy wants to separate us from the cross! Luke 9:23 Daily!

And saying, Thou that would destroy the temple, and rebuild it in just three days, save thyself. If thou be

the Son of God, come down from the cross. The Secret: Victory over the enemy is found on the cross!

Revelation 12:11 The Pathway to Total Victory!! As simple as 1, 2, 3!!

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved

not their lives unto the death. Requires spiritual maturity! 1 John 2:13-14 Romans 8:14

Romans 13:14 Putting on Christ is putting on the full armor!

Psalms 91:1-16 Where we have to dwell in order to obtain the victory!

He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will

say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee

from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers,

and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid

for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flies by day; Nor for the pestilence that walks in darkness;

nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy

right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of

the wicked. Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;

There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling; For he shall give his

angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou

dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon

shalt thou trample under feet. (God says) Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver

him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer

him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and

show him my salvation.

Ephesians 6:10-18 How we actually walk in the victory we have inherited!

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of

God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and

blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against

spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be

able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt

about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the

preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to

quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit,

which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching

thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; 7 - Fullness, Completion, and Perfection!

Let’s un-wrap Ephesians 6:10-18 together and take a look at each individual piece and how they all work

together in tandem to produce the victory in and through our lives that has already been won on our

behalf!

Book of Ephesians

(NFL) One of my favorite Books in the Bible is the Book of Ephesians. Studying the Book of Ephesians is

like watching an NFL football game that has already been played that you set up to record on your Dish

or Direct TV receiver while you were away. You already know the final score and who ultimately wins

but it’s still a pleasure to watch. Already knowing the outcome, you have a tendency to watch it from a

totally different perspective. While you still enjoy the great plays, you don’t get as emotionally caught

up in the plays that don’t go so well because you already know we win. When you have been given

inside information regarding who has already won the game, it causes you to relate to the game totally

different than you might have otherwise. While you hate to see the fumbles and the mistakes, you are

able to remain at peace because you already know the outcome of the game. That’s what it means to be

in the world but no longer of the world. Jesus said in John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give

unto you: not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

(Body of Christ) One of the reasons I like the Book of Ephesians is because it is primarily a study of who

we are as Christ’s Body in the earth. It explains that we are called to function as His agents in the earth.

It’s not only about who we are but it’s also about what we have inherited and the resources that are

available to us as we are going about manifesting His plan, purpose and will in the earth. Paul ends the

book in Chapter 6 by saying ‘finally, my brethren’; This is his final word after he has provided us with

God’s eternal perspective on what our spiritual position is ‘in Christ’; and then he tells us three times to

‘stand firm’ in the midst of the battle that is going on around us; don’t be distracted, don’t become

discouraged or moved. Stand firm in what? In the position that we have inherited in Christ Jesus!

(Our Position of Authority) Paul told us in Ephesians 2:6 that we have been seated with Him in heavenly

places. As sons of God in the earth Romans 8:14, as we abide in Him, we operate from a heavenly

eternal perspective; a position of power and authority. Deuteronomy 28:13-14 clearly states we are

from above and not beneath.

All the real action is taking place in the heavenly places - which is where we must operate!

Ephesians 1:3 All of our spiritual blessings are there in heavenly places;

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in

heavenly places in Christ. Our spiritual resources, weapons of our warfare, are in heavenly places in Him.

Ephesians 1:18 Jesus is seated there in heavenly places;

The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling and

what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints; As we abide in Him we will be made to

understand the hope of His calling and will know the manifestation of His power in and through our life.

Ephesians 2:6 We are seated together with Him there in heavenly places;

And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: We have

been translated out of the kingdom of darkness into His glorious kingdom of light.

Ephesians 3:10 The angles operate from there in heavenly places;

To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the

church the manifold wisdom of God; God operates only through redeemed man.

Ephesians 6:12 Demons operate from there in heavenly places;

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers

of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Everything is taking place in the heavenly places. Our ability or inability to address the unseen realm will

determine the degree to which we are able to operate successfully in His authority, power and blessings

in the ‘seen’ realm! The natural seen realm is a manifestation of what is taking place in the spirit realm!

The tools by which we can operate in the unseen spiritual realm are the ‘Armor of God’. The first three

represent the state that we are to consistently operate in - ‘to be’; and the last four are what we are to

take up - ‘to do’; truth, righteousness, Gospel of peace; then shield of faith, helmet, sword and prayer.

Baseball player wears his uniform during the entire game but picks up his bat and glove when needed.

Recognizing Spiritual Cause vs. Being Deceived by Natural Effect is the Key to Victory!

If you can’t identify the spiritual root, you will be thrown off by the natural fruit!

2 Corinthians 5:7 Faith is vitally important!

Ephesians 6:10-18 How we actually obtain the victory!

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

Finally (being able to walk in everything I Paul have included in my letter comes down to this), my

brethren (we must operate in love; we’re in this together; one in Him; strength in unity), be strong in the

Lord (abide in Him), and in the power of his might (when I am weak, He is strong; I can do all things;

apart from Him I can do nothing; greater is He who is in me).

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles

of the devil.

Put on (we are told to put it on; He will not put it on for us; you can have it and it not benefit you; be

doers of the word) the whole armour of God (all that Christ was in the midst of the battle; in what ways

did He operate when attacked by the enemy) that ye may be able to stand (a strong offense is the best

defense) against the wiles of the devil (the father of lies and deception).

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against

powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual

wickedness in high places.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood (cause vs. effect; root vs. fruit; light vs. darkness), but against

principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual

wickedness (Satan’s evil hierarchy; strategies of the kingdom of darkness) in high places (our enemy

operates in the spiritual realm; we must understand cause and effect; we walk by faith and not by sight;

this is where the battle is won or lost; it’s lost in the natural).

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God that ye may be able to

withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God (seven parts make up the whole; both offensive and

defensive weapons) that ye may be able to withstand (not be moved; deceived or intimidated) in the

evil day (the day that you have been singled out for a direct or stealth attack against your health,

marriage, finances, ministry, etc), and having done all (eternal paradigm; right relationship; feeding on

His word; operating in love; walking in obedience; operating according to the word of God; exercising

your rights and privileges as a son of the Most High God), to stand (how you respond on the evil day will

reflect your spiritual maturity; tube of toothpaste under pressure).

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the

breastplate of righteousness;

Stand therefore (in the authority you have inherited and in the power of His might as His agent in the

earth), having your loins (vulnerable area; fruit bearing) girt about with truth (truth is the absolute

standard by which reality is measured; truth is reality in its original form before the fall; truth is God’s

view of reality; it’s light vs. darkness; how is it revealed to us? we are to start with truth; seek first the

kingdom; truth goes beyond facts or feelings), and having on the breastplate (protects the heart; the

source of life; the inner man; out of the heart the mouth speaks; told to have a pure heart and clean

hands; Satan’s strategy is to corrupt your heart) of righteousness (Satan is the accuser; we are the

righteousness of God in Christ; there is therefore now no condemnation; we are called to be and do

right; compromise gives place to the devil which can be deadly in the midst of battle; sin invites demonic

engagement; as ants and roaches love trash - demons love wrong - if they can temp you to sin - they

potentially separate you from God - reality - and then begin to chip away at your faith as they regain

control over the natural; touch not the unclean thing; walk in total obedience; righteousness provides an

objective standard in the midst of the attack of the enemy),

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

And your feet shod (roman spikes to provide sure-footing; we are in charge and are to take an

aggressive stance in overcoming evil) with the preparation (study to show yourself approved; this book

of the law shall not depart; by reason of use) of the gospel (good news; great commission; Father’s

business) of peace (how do you know you are moving in the center of God’s will; must be prepared to

allow peace to be your guide in the midst of battle; while we have peace with God - what we really need

is the peace of God; the gospel of peace does more than just get us to heaven - it brings heaven to us in

the midst of battle; my peace I give unto you);

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the

fiery darts of the wicked.

Above all, taking the shield (protects against attacks) of faith (a knowing in the inner man; responding in

obedience to God’s word - logos and Rhema; Biblical faith is thinking and acting like God is telling the

truth; Biblical faith is acting like it is so when it’s not so in order that it might be so simply because God

said so; faith is simple obedience which is measured by feet; you can always determine the degree to

which you have faith by observing the direction of your feet; faith has nothing to do with what you think

or feel but only with what you know and do; Hebrews Hall of Faith demonstrates the pattern - they

heard and then responded - they all took action being doers of the word they were given), wherewith

ye shall be able to quench (nullify) all the fiery darts (darts are lies, accusations and temptations) (fiery

darts are designed to distract - they are a diversionary tactic designed to drain one’s faith; hard to do

two things at once; consider Roman soldiers and American Indians; the enemy wants to keep me from

moving in faith; consider motion light switches - faith only works when there is movement in response

to the leading of the Spirit; Moses had to hold out the rod; Joshua had to tell the Priests to put their feet

on the edge of the shore of the Jordan River for safe passage; Peter had to step out of the boat) of the

wicked (perverted truths; twisted reality; the wicked one).

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word

of God:

And take the helmet (protects the mind) of salvation (our awareness of who and whose we are and

what we have inherited as sons; our eternal paradigm; our link with the Father through His Spirit;

Beverly Hillbillies - their thinking had become limited to what they could see and understand in the hills

of Tennessee - they never learned to identify with and life up to their wealthy position; as a man thinks

in his heart so is He; who does God say we are; and what have we inherited; what life have we been

called to; and why; Christians today are self-limiting even though they have been relocated; we are

seated with Him in heavenly places; take every thought captive; how can two walk together unless they

be agreed), and the sword of the Spirit (our primary weapon against the enemy), which is the word

(logos and Rhema) of God (it not only keeps us safe but it destroys every attack of the enemy; shines a

light on the wiles of the devil; quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword Hebrews 4:12;

it’s the only weapon the Spirit of God uses; that’s why we must internalize and learn to pray according

to the word of God; it will always be our most powerful defense and our most lethal offensive weapon;

it is translated Rhema in this particular verse of scripture; Like Jesus we only say what we receive from

the Father by the Spirit; therein lies our victory over the enemy; it is written when in the wilderness;

consider what might have happened in the garden of Eden; Satan is seriously allergic to scripture; not

everybody who says they believe in the Bible treats it as the authority it is; which is why it gets watered

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching

thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Praying always (we must remain in constant contact with our Commander and Chief for direction and

empowerment; apart from Him we can do nothing) with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit (be

anxious for nothing but in everything with prayer and supplication), and watching (remain alert at all

times, watch and pray continuously) thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; 7 -

Fullness, Completion, and Perfection!

Process of the Armor of God (Summary)

Belt of Truth: Provides perspective and tells us what the right actions are which produces

righteousness and right standing with God; We are to walk in the light as

He is in the light.

Breastplate: As the result of walking in the truth, the light, walking uprightly before the Lord protects

us from deception, accusation and from being separated from the influence, power and

authority of God; being and doing right protects me from the enemy gaining any kind of

a foothold in my life;

Feet Shod: Provides confirmation that I am in the will of God and produces eternal fruit on behalf

of the kingdom of God; hearing, lifestyle and ministry; We are to be led by peace.

Shield of Faith: Walking in obedience to the word you are given activates your faith; simply following

Devine orders without giving it any natural thought; allowing the Spirit to protect

and lead you victoriously through the battle; 1 John 5:4 tells us that our faith is

the means by which we obtain the victory; it’s the standard by which you

discern truth in the midst of the battle; the ultimate spiritual plum-line.

Helmet: Protects your mind of Christ; protects your spiritual identity; protects your eternal

paradigm and your ultimate connection to the spirit realm; your source of power;

Sword: Our primary means of attack; the word uncovers and reveals; rebukes and destroys.

We operate in life and in the midst of the battle according to the written word and we

overcome the enemy with the spoken word. 2 Corinthians 10:5 We experience victory

as we take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ;

Prayer: Our open-line of communication with the Lord through which we receive instruction as

well as all of the resources needed to stand victorious in the day of battle; apart from

Him we can do nothing. Matthew 26:41 Jesus said that we are to watch and pray so

that we would not fall in to temptation on the day of battle.

When all seven pieces of armor are in operation, you are seated in and operating from heavenly places

in Christ Jesus. He came to destroy the works of the devil. It’s in Him that you experience His victory in

the midst of your very real circumstances. We are told to put on Christ. He is our armor. How do you

dress for success? You enter in through praise and worship; you then pray according to the will and

purpose of God; Prayer according to the word of God is providing God earthly permission for heavenly

intervention. It is quite literally withdrawing virtue from the hem of His garment in the midst of battle.

Jesus said according to your faith be it done unto you. We truly have been given everything that pertains

to abundant life and godlikeness in this life; Deuteronomy 32:13 Victory is achieved in the high places.

Psalm 62 will always be the key to your every victory in the Lord!
