The Soldier System Conference and Tradeshow hasbeen organized as part of DND and industry’scommit ment to implement the government’s SoldierSystem Technology Roadmap exercise of 2009-2011.We believe this event will build greater collaborationamong industry, the academic community and DNDaround mid- to longer term Canadian Forces capa-bility needs with respect to the dismounted soldier.

The conference program has been designed withthree complementary objectives in mind: to provideindustry with a perspective of the possible futureneeds of the Canada Forces, as well as those of ourUS and NATO allies, in an evolving and increasinglycomplex and connected war fighter environment; toprovide a snap shot of the industrial capability andtechnology trends available from industry to those ingovernment with responsibility for addressing thefuture needs of the war fighter; and, to provide aforum to enable discussion among the principalsoldier system stakeholder community. We believethe program, over the next day and a half, will informyou, connect you and expose you to a greater understanding of the issues, markets and people ofinterest to you.

ADVENTURE LIGHTSBooth #12SMART BEACON

Adventure Lights has developed a small wearable beaconthat can be synchronized to work with other beacons, in anetwork and group, for quick visual ID of friendly forces incontact situations. This will allow commanders and firesupport units to quickly apply fire or make maneuver deci-sions, more readily identify IFF (Identification Friend orFoe) and increase both situational awareness andcommand and control. The system uses an Ad Hoc selfrepairing mesh network system that works independentlybut can also integrate with larger C4 Systems developedby Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Rockwell Collins and otherproviders. The beacons emit signatures in both the visibleand infrared (near IR) ranges compatible with Night VisionGoggles. These signatures can be pre set, changed in thefield or overwritten and addressed by close air support andcommand control.

The SMART Beacon Network is secure but with theproper protocols will be addressable and controllable byfield commanders and other supporting friendly forces.www.adventurelights.com
